Miss Daisy, i keep seeing over an over about how the bypass patients regain, and their malabsorbtion tendencies dissapear. what i don't understand is if their stomach is "bypassed", how is it not better than the sleeve when we still have part of our stomach? i'm confused, why wouldnt we gain our wt back too. tsvm...vicki:blink:

How sweet Janine, well i am your buddy for sure, i also did everything backwards and started college in my thirties, so your not alone. yes, i had the band 2x and i wont miss it one bit, be glad you didnt go for it. My doc told me they will be obsolete in about 4-5 yrs. Its probably good you have a lot of homework, will keep your ming off things...

I have heart problems and my ekg came back abnormal, but my surgeon and my pmd cleared me for surg. I'm putting it all in God's hands. i will pray for you and hopefully it is just a benign glitch...best of luck..vicki

I would love a buddy, I am 53 yrs old and have had the lapband for 2 1/2 yrs, it prolapsed in march of this yr and i had it fixed, now 7 months later and 40 lbs heavier i am going in for surgery on mon. nov. 1st. for the sleeve. I am soo scared, but so hopeful all goes well and i will be more active and just generally happier with myself. I am going to visit my daughter and her fam. at christmas time and will be traveling with them to savannah Ga. about 4 hrs from their home by car and hope this is not too optomistic at 7 weeks post op. I am also going on a cruise in Feb. and am so excited about the things i will be able to do (snorkle) that i wouldn't be able to do today if i went..I hope there is some one i can just talk to along this journey. and I am a good listener too...lol Thanks for hearing me out, Vicki~

I bought the GNC unflavored protien powder and the guy in there didnt have a clue. He just looked at me and said I dunno, well, I dunno either LOL. can anyone help with ideas, i asked him if i could mix it with food and he said it probably wouldn't be a good idea..... thanks vicki

yeah, that would be nice, although i already had the 5 hole procedure, and then a revision of my band after that, he did cut over the old incisions, but now they are thicker and redder. I guess its a lilltle late for a belly button procedure for me..LOL

thanks Mini, so, how do u know how much to put in and does it make the food thick? can u taste it? sorry for all the questions, i never dealt with unflavored before, I don't have a kroger here,, My daughter is coming from atlanta for my surg, but i dont think the yogurt would fare well...LOL thanks,,vicki

YES Janine I am STARViNG, or so my head tells me, i dont know... my scale said i was up a lb today too. they actually have a name for the people starting a diet and it called the last supper..LOL.....i think we all go thru it. I dont know how some people on this site do 1 or 2 weeks of Clear liquids before theyre diet, i cant do phase 1 south beach...i had grits with my eggs and i had dannon lite and fit yogurt with whipped cream! i am chewing gum like crazy, but all i can think about is food....what diet are you on if any? did u find out what ur doctor allows after surg?..I'm curious...thanks, vicki

OK, so i feel a little inexperienced writing this, but i have had the band and a revision in the last 2 1/2 yrs and am being sleeved in 6 days. i have done so much reading and researching for the past several weeks that it sounds like it could be a stricture. Don't want to scare you, because I really dont know, but i have read that scar tissue can form inside the sleeve and pull the stomach together forming a stricture, you should probably make an appt with your doctor and maybe get a swallow study done...good luck to you. i hope it is just something simple and will go away on its own... ~vicki
