  1. My dh is not supporting my decision to b banded. He's worried that something might go wrong during surgery and I think he thinks it's (surgery) not going to work. He thinks that I'm looking for a quick fix and just wants me to do it on my own. He is overweight as well. We could both benefit from the surgery. Have any of you experienced this? Any ideas on how to change his mind? I want his support because we are a team. My husband is my best friend and I value his opinion. TIA!
  2. I'm not sure when my surgery will be. Hopefully in May or June. I haven't been approved yet for surgery. So what should I do in preparation for the surgery? I love sugar, carbs, and pop. I tend to eat fast food too much. I'm not working out, but I'm planning to try to as soon as I'm 6 weeks postpartum from my c-section. Do you have any advice for me? I really really want to give up the pop. Any other helpful hints that helped you lose more quickly? TIA!
  3. Thanks for the advice! We just have to stop buying the stupid pop! ha ha ha I gave up caffeine for a year, I think I can do pop. So is Crystal Light the best stuff out there?
  4. So the bariatric center called me today and told me the only thing they are waiting on is my doctor's release/approval. I've got an appt with him tomorrow. I'm kinda nervous about it. He and I talked about it last spring and then I ended up pregnant. I can tell he's not all about wls. Did any of you have a doctor who was against the surgery? Will they do my surgery if he doesn't approve?
  5. Yep, he wanted to run a cholestrol check/bloodwork. Then he's going to send it in. The only thing I have right now is hypertension, but he's never run any bloodwork on me before. I'll be curious to see what happens with it. Thanks for all of your support.
  6. I am just afraid that he is going to say I need to document weight loss with him for at least 6 months. We haven't really tried anything together. This is going to be a really good time for me to do the wls because I have the summers off from teaching.
  7. Just curious what you ate after the surgery. How long on mushies? When/or did you ever eat semi-normal again? I'd love to hear the different stories please! TIA! Andrea
  8. So does most of the weight come off quickly from the liquid diet? What's the key to losing consistently after that?
  9. It sounds like the weight loss can really vary from person to person. Is the liquid stage the hardest? Are you hungry alot?
  10. Well he did fax a paper for me this morning, so that's good! We talked about it a lot last spring when I started thinking about it. Then I got pg. I told him yesterday that I had forgotten about it. He just wants us to be able to lose weight on our own. He's at the most he's ever been too. We lost a bunch of weight before we got married on our own. I had a ton of time to work out. Now he's in school at night and we have two kids. Life is just a lot more busy to dedicate that much time. I was working out for hours. I have time to workout now, but just not as much. He seems to have a hard time communicating why he's against it. I don't think either of our parents will be down with it, but we're adults and don't need there approval.
  11. Thanks for all of your support. He doesn't even want to talk about it and it makes me uncomfortable to talk about it with him, which is strange for us. I appreciate all of the advice. Please keep it coming!
  12. Just curious. I just had my baby on January 13th. I would love to get it done this summer.
