I began looking into Lap Banding in January 2009 by attending a serinar.  I liked what I heard and set up a consultation with Dr. LaMasters in West Des Moines, Iowa.  I was able to see her rather quickly and I was very impressed with her personality and that she took the time to explain what the lapbanding envolved.   I weighed in at 255 at 5 ft. 2 in. that day.  My insurance denied me the first time and wanted me to complete a 6 month doctor supervisied diet.  I began doing Weight Watchers on my own at home and began walking under my doctors supervision by attending monthly doctors appointments with my primary care doctor.  By the end of the six month diet I had lost 62 pounds.  Finally I was approved.  I did have to delay another appointment with Dr. LaMasters to set up a surgery date because of some gall bladder issues that had been after me for a year and a half.  Finally had the gallbladder removed then I was on my way to see Dr. LaMasters on November, 9.  My surgery was scheduled on November 19, 2009.  The surgery went well without any complications whatsoever.  I am looking forward to seeing the progress I make in losing weight with Lap Band!
