Do you have a reward for yourself when you hit goal?
LapBandit replied to Dianechef's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
WOW, Diane! Congrats! I'm really happy for you! Now, I'm way too far from even deciding on what my goal even is, but if I ever get there I'm gonna party like its 1999!!! Ha Ha -
I wore jogging pants and a big t-shirt with slip on sandals. I made quite the fashion statement but who cares...it matched the lovely hospital wrist band and band aids! I agree with some of the others...I wish I had brought a pillow with me to help hold my tummy in place on the car ride home. Otherwise, I felt fine. GOOD LUCK!!!

Yep, my Bariatric Center has weekly meetings. I go to as many as I can because this next year is going to be totally focused on losing weight so even when I don't get a lot out of a meeting, I still know I "stuck to my plan"!!

So, how's it going for everyone? I'm not sure I'm making much progress lately. I'm eating properly but haven't gotten my workouts in as I like. My job keeps interfering with my life!!! Ahhhh....I would just LOVE to be out of the 3's at my next appointment on the 14th. If I can get to 299 then that will mean I've got 8 pounds left until I hit 100 lost!!!!! Can you believe it??? I've got 15 pounds until Twoterville...can it be done in 3 weeks????
-
Me too! But, I can't always get out of work on time to get to the gym. It makes me soooo frustrated. I wish I could just tell my bosses "hey, give me one stinkin' year to take care of myself".
-
Wow Jack! Are you a doc?? If not, you should be! That was an impressive explanation! Thanks!
-
OMG!! Me too! That was so funny!!!!

I bruised with my fill too. But, it didn't hurt one bit so I was happy!

Do You Still Have Your Gall Bladder?
LapBandit replied to mslynn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had 4 of the 5 f's...I was in my twenties though when I had to have mine removed. I also had that "dumping" thing following it's removal but luckily for me that passed and I don't have that problem any more. My gallbladder "went bad" following a 30 lb loss I had made on my own using Slim Fast. Slim Fast is bad stuff!! The doctor's told me that they think that's what pushed my gallbladder over the edge...so much sodium and other junk in there and your body just can't process it correctly. I didn't have stones...I had "sludge" and it was very painful. But like most of you...my symptoms weren't the average ones. It took a trip to the ER to get it out as an emergency surgery because I was so dehydrated and worn down that I couldn't even eat any more. Wow...those were the days. Now that it's gone...I feel fine! -
I'm in the suburbs of Twoterville. I'm hoping to move into the 'ville by next month! I've got a VG with 6 cc's and I think I finally have some restriction. I think I may ask for a little more fill at my next appointment though. Perhaps 1 cc more and I'll be good to go! I have about 16 pounds to go and I'm really trying to get there. Once I do I think I'll feel like I'm really starting to accomplish the dream of making my way to "overweight" status!! I'm not thinking I'll ever get to a "normal" weight but if I can atleast drop "obese" from my medical history I will feel wonderful!! I've dropped down from "super obese" down to just plain old "morbid obese". Funny how that's exciting but sad at the same time!!!! Good luck everyone...I hope we're all moved into our new neighborhood soon. We'll throw a Twoterville block party when we're all there!!!!
-
Sounds good to me...I'm in! I'll look for it!

We're in the race together because I am exactly where you are. I really, really would love to be back in twoterville before my next appointment in the middle of July. Think we can do it?? You're right tho...that would be a pretty impressive loss for a month and I don't want to get disappointed if I can't make it. That would be awesome to hit that goal. I think about it all the time because it's my first "mini goal" and I really want to get there! GOOD LUCK!!! I'll keep sending positive vibes your way...please do the same for me!!!

I think so! I did read somewhere that estrogen is stored in fat cells and that it can get released during weight loss. Any way, I also had about a two week stint where I was overly emotional. I swear it wasn't "mental" it was chemical. Weird huh? The good news is...mine mysteriously cleared up just as quickly as it came on.

I'm just curious if anyone else out there experienced the same complication as myself during their surgery. Apparently they use "seat belts" to strap you to the OR table. One of the belts pinched a nerve in my leg and ever since surgery my left thigh has been numb. I'm hoping this means my leg is now healing, but it really burns. I guess of all the possible complications you could get from surgery that this is very minor; however, it isn't exactly pleasant. Did anyone else suffer this complication? I've been told there is really nothing that can be done to speed up the healing. I'm taking a B-complex daily because I read that it helps with nerve function but I'm open to any suggestions that may help! Thanks!

There are lots of reasons for why we get "off track" :faint:with stuff in our lives. But, it's time to snap out of it, girl!! Even if you're at a point where you're happy with your weight then you will forever need to continue making healthy eating choices for yourself ...OR...lapband or not...those sixty pounds COULD come sneaking back and you don't want that, right? You can do it! Even if you can't fit in gym time like you used to at least focus on eating healthy again and it may spark you to get back into the gym. GOOD LUCK!!

Wow, that is exactly what is happening to me. My doc offered to send me to another specialist for neurontin but I declined because I've read about serious side effects from it and I tried it years ago for herniated discs but never thought it did much for me. So...it sounds like yours never went away??? My doc estimates 6 months for the nerves to regenerate. I cannot image having this forever. It is the strangest feeling Numbness/Burning/Itching all at the same time sometimes! UGH! Well, whoever hears of a solution first please share!! I do think the B12 complex I'm taking has helped decrease my symptoms. Now, it's mainly a burning sensation and less numbness. Thanks for all the thoughts everyone!

7 Weeks Post-Op and Internal Sutures Surfacing!
LapBandit replied to LindaV's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Me too...I had one tiny piece come out from my port incision then a pretty big piece surfaced later from another incision. It looked like a loop of fishing twine sticking out of my skin so I gently tugged on it and it popped right out. That was several weeks ago and my doc says they look fine. I guess as long as it didn't hurt or look "bad" then I would guess that you're fine too! Weird stuff, huh?! -
Thanks, Sunta! I'll check into it.

I agree, I just had my first fill and did liquids the first day then tried mushies the next and then felt fine. Two weeks seems a little overly cautious...are you sure you didn't misunderstand--maybe your doc meant two days??
-
I was told that sugar free is always the better choice than "no sugar added" so that's what I stick to. I had "no sugar added" juice though because I couldn't find any sugar free juice. I drank A LOT of juice the first few days. I also bought sugar free hot cocoa. The warm liquid felt good to my sore tummy. You sound like you are on the right track. One word of caution...I personally had purchased WAY, WAY more stuff than I actually used. I ended up giving away a lot of food because I just wasn't hungry for the first two weeks. I'd stock up for a few days just so you don't have to go shopping right after surgery but don't worry about really stocking your pantry until you see how your appetite is during your immediate recovery. GOOD LUCK!!
-
My doc also says "No" for multiple reasons. But, someone in my support group said that they tried it and it really hurt bad. I've not tried it, I'm too scared! I've read many people on this site who said that it's OK if you let it go flat but then what good is that?? Part of the "thrill" for me has always been the fizz! LOL.

I use ediets. They have a nutrition tracker that allows you to enter in everything you eat then record any daily notes (I enter in my water and excersize notes for the day) then they have a nutrition analysis for each day that calculates everything into a summary like you see on food labels except that it's for a full day. I think I pay $5/month but it's worth it to me.
