These are good suggestions. Refried beans really helped me through this stage. Protein, protein, protein!

Molly, you are too cool! You look fabulous! You can really tell a difference in your overall shape! You lucky dog! I wish my bod was changing as fast! PS-I like the blonde hair better!

Just started solids and went to town :(

"I'm hoping that this band will give me a little more control than that." Yes, your band with proper fill will help the hunger but you will always have to maintain a certain level of self control. Now the trick is...was the food you ate healthy? If so, then don't worry about it. If not, then you may need to step back and make sure you get yourself going in the right direction. Don't worry about the weight gain. This happens to almost all of us from the switch-over to regular food. It will settle down within the next week or so. And don't let yourself get discouraged. So, go ahead and eat, stop when you're satisfied, and make sure it's food you're proud of--if you do this you'll be just fine! -
April 2006 Bandits September Challenge
LapBandit replied to Ceparano's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Awww, I'm jealous! I've just started using the eliptical at my gym and I really like it. I want one too. And, I agree...this thread is keeping me focused too. It takes a village! -
OMG, Molly. You are so, so, so close now!! Congrats on the 50lb mark! I'm proud of ya!

I didn't have trouble with liquid temp. The night after surgery I wasn't hungry but drank some sugar free hot cocoa and I swear it felt so good on my belly. It wasn't very hot and I didn't even halfway finish it, but those few sips felt really soothing! Just test it out slowly until you see for yourself if there's gonna be any difference to you.

Yep, I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop too. But, I'm slowly realizing that if I put in the effort and dedication then this will actually work this time! It's a scary proposition...I'm so used to just hitting my head against the wall. But things are different now...we're gonna make it this time!

Congrats and happy bandaversary! You look wonderful!

How often do you see your doc to discuss issues and fills
LapBandit replied to rorysmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I see my surgeon once a month. We discuss everything including fills at each visit to assess my progress/restriction. -
I agree with Paula...two days should be sufficient. With the disclaimer about pain meds...everyone reacts differently to those so you'll have to see if you're even taking pain meds and how they make you feel. Ask your doc to be sure what he/she recommends. Physically though...I was able to drive after the second day.

Carol, I have the VG too! No, I don't think golfballs will do any damage to our bands. But, it is something we should try to avoid. I agree with above, if your happens alot and unprovoked then you may need to discuss it with your doc. When it happens to me, it's always been my own fault.

Molly, if you ever need to practice some hair techniques keep me in mind! Actually, I'm debating going to get a haircut today! I have never found a style that I love. I hate my hair!

Yep, that's what I call it when it happens to me. Throw in the "deer in a headlight" look as well and that's me after chicken that was too dry!

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!
LapBandit replied to Rockin' Robyn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jaclyn....227??? I can only dream! You've renewed my hope! What are your tips? Lots of protein, excersize?? Please share! -
That is WONDERFUL news! I am so relieved for you! What a great way to start the weekend! Hubby will probably get bored in a week then his unemployment vacation dream will run out! Molly-how's that back feeling?
-
Well, I can't kick ya in the ass but I guess I can hit you in the head with a fish???? LOL! You'll get back into the swing of things! Be a tennis shoe and JUST DO IT! Josette--You are having the crappiest week ever. I'm really sorry about everything. Hang in there and remember--you got friends here to listen! Molly--Back problems are the worst. I've suffered with a terrible back too. You probably already know this but...alternating heat and cool (ice pack) helps work your back muscles to relax them. I hope it's feeling better soon!
-
I agree, it probably has something to do with how you were laying on the O.R. table but I'd call just to double-check. I felt worse the day after surgery too. I guess some people's bodies take a little time to "register" that it's just undergone major surgery. You should start feeling a little better each day. By day 4 I was pretty well back to normal. Congrats!~

HELP...Is this the right thing to do???????
LapBandit replied to April's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
April-You're having the same pre-band freak out that many of us had. If you are committed to changing your life for the better then you'll be fine! As far as telling your Mom, or anyone else for that matter, it has to be your choice to decide who to tell. For me, I didn't make big announcements at work but now it's a little akward because people are noticing my loss and keep asking me how I'm doing it. I feel stupid telling them that I had major surgery 4 months ago! That's why I decided to tell my family...I imagined how offended I'd feel if I found out my Mom snuck out and had major surgery without telling me. But that's MY opinion. You are entitled to your own. My point is just to think down the road when family starts noticing your loss...what do you plan to tell them? That's my two cents. Good luck with surgery and you'll do great! -
Molly and Ericsmom-you guys rock! Isn't that awesome to try on clothes and have them fit. And yes, I say you officially get credit for fitting into a pair of pants even if they're too small. My motto is...if they physically fit onto my body and I can zip them without using tools then it counts!! Julie...I finally broke free after all those yucky TOM hormones passed! Thanks for noticing! You'll be busting loose from your plateau any day now!
-
OMG, that stinks that you have to do this. I wonder why your doc wants it? I didn't have to do this for my surgery. Now, my aunt had to do it for her GB and she said it was pretty intense. I agree with NurseTeresa...better be home for this!! And stock up on TP. I hope it goes well for you.
-
I have cycles of ravenous hunger too sometimes. I just do the best I can and it usually only lasts a day or two. Perhaps you're just having something similar? Have you recently increased your activity or exercise? When I bumped up the exercise I became really hungry until my body caught up with my new routine. Hang in there!

Tried solids for the first time...QUESTION???
LapBandit replied to Kirsten117's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, it sounds like you are full. Being full post-band feels differently than without the band. It feels fuller higher up on your chest, not the good ol' belly full that we were all accustomed to pre-band. I agree, to me it felt as though I needed to burp when I was full as well. Congrats, sounds like you have some restriction already! -
18 months post op (to the day) and the dreaded slippage
LapBandit replied to Parvathi's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My goodness, you've had so much going on and now a slip too. I'm really sorry for everything and I'm sending best wishes your way that things start turning around for you soon! Please let us know how you're doing! -
I didn't lose during liquids either and we're not the only ones. There's nothing wrong with you. All this prep and then mushies stages serve a bigger purpose than weight loss-they get your body ready for surgery. So, please try not to even worry about it because once you're post-band and back to real foods you body will respond and you'll get to see some real action!
