:w00t: We are now socialist, one step away from communism, the red menace. I wish Mr. Bush could have run again, he would have wiped the floor with that Osama. Look at this economy, it was never this bad under Mr. Bush Spend, Spend, Spend, Who's got the money? Aww, it's alright we'll make more

Anyone notice Post Banders are a bit snobbish?

I find that post banders look down their noses at us pre-banders and feel we have no valid opinions about anything. What do you think  -

Supporting my wife through Lap Band
El Diablo replied to sqcomp's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi there Tigard! The pepsi has got to go! Won't work with the band. Make it a pre-condition for her surgery, if she can't quit the soda, she won't have the discipline to follow the band rules. -

taking classes for lapband

Good! The only problem I had was gas pain in my shoulders as expected but that was manageable and gone by day 2. There is a thread of surgery day stories on the forum that has tons of details if you want to look for it. -
This should piss some people off but that is not my intent. Best case scenario it becomes a spirited discussion of the merits of waiting. Worse case, those offended will rant at me for a while and I won't miss a wink of sleep over it. This is dedicated to all of you pre-banders out there who get discouraged, frustrated about the time it takes to finally get to band land, whether it be due to insurance or pre-op diets or any reason that causes you to take more time than you originally hoped for a band date. So.........have you noticed that the people with the most problems, slowest weight loss, slippages, pb's, complications, etc. are the people who went from seminar to surgery relatively quickly as opposed to those who for whatever reason had to wait 8 months to a year. I personally am using the time to learn. I will not be posting a thread in the future asking what is PB after I'm banded. First and foremost I am GETTING MY MIND RIGHT! for the changes I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR!

There used to be a guy...scratch that genius, who conducted a scientific poll on this very subject. His name was Dan and he was somewhat of a hero of mine as well as for thousands of others on the forum. Check the wisdom here .... http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f84/have-you-noticed-87126/ -

Hi, just had it done five days ago, no hunger yet, I'll be on liquids for two weeks and so far it's looking pretty easy. I haven't been hungry at all. Milk is my main liquid with some juice, water, coffee, tea as desired. -

There is a free application in the itunes app store called Lose It. My favorite feature of it is that it calculates the carbs/proteins/fats/fiber etc. in the foods you eat. It also tracks weight changes calories consumed/remaining for the day exercise calories burned and calculates date to goal weight based on current choices/habits It has all popular restaraunts so no guessing how many calories you ate It has all name brand grocery store products, so for instance if you made a recipe using 4 different things it will total the calories and nutrients for you and serving size to include half servings calculates calories in home cooked meals Just wanted to share, and it's free so enjoy

If I could clarify, she was not saying That YOU were sliming and Pb'ing this individual. Especially since that would be impossible unless you are one of those ectoplasm thingies like on ghostbusters. I think the responses you are getting are a result of your negativity. Where is it your place to tell the OP that she didn't need the surgery or that she could have changed her mindset without the surgery, I agree 100 percent that going to the trouble and expense of the surgery for SOME people is what causes them to change lifelong bad habits and as we know the band represents a lifestyle change not just a diet. And as a side note the OP DOES have restriction without a fill just by having the band in place.
-
I believe that the decision just to get the lap band in itself is/should be a change in mind set that will allow you to lose weight. I hope not to get a fill either. Good job to the OP, keep it up, you can do it and be a role model for those of us who see the band as "just a tool" if you don't need it, don't pull it out of the toolbox.:cursing:
