  1. Sorry if this thread has already been started but I looked around a bit and couldn’t find one. I think that those of us who are scheduled for September need a place to support each other, help pass the time, and not spam up the boards with a thousand approved threads:tongue2:!!! I am so excited to being this journey. So, how about it? Any lost September banders out there?:)
  2. Uhg!!! I go to school in MA but my surgeon and family are back in CA so I got a .9 fill over break and I'm seriously hurting. I havent thrown up at all so it doesnt seem worth paying for a ER visit in the tiny town I go to school in... I just feel terrible after eating event the tiniest portions of band friendly food  I got the fill about 5 days ago so hopefully it will loosen up but until then or I decide on another course of action I'm switching back over to mushies. LOL if I have to spend the next 6 weeks on mushies I am going to look great over summer jk  How is everyone else?

    WTF?!?!?!?! Really!?!?!?!

over filling SUCKS so Id advise you to take it slow the weight will come off and in a much more pleasant way. If you dont feel any restriction in 2 weeks call him and tell him you want to come in earlier

    corn or flour tortillas???

def wait until regular food stage but neither are on my surgeons no no list. I personally cannot do either but I get stuck on weird things like scrabled eggs and am find with giant slices of cake so you just have to find out what works for you
  5. ya mushy crackers are mushies not liquid for me I cant even do cream soups during liquids
  6. actually I have the same problem with fries they are by far the worst I dont know why but ill be slimming for 2 hours if I stick even on in my mouth sigh good old says when I would drench steak fries in ranch dressing and seasoning salt... though I guess I also had to walk around with my pants unbuttoned so its a trade off lol
  7. when I am super lose I can tolerate tiny portions of mashed potatos but other wise its right in and right out  its terrible even if I dont have a band forever I doubt I will ever try and put them in my mouth again
  8. My doctor doesn use flouro for any of his patients and he said he has never had a problem. If you doctor uses flouro I would ask him to do it without (LOL that could go badly) but if he is experiences at doing it without I dont think its a big problem. At lease its never been for me
  9. I noticed a significant increase in anxiety right after the surgery, about non surgery related things. I think this is because I used eating as a coping mechanism and couldn't do that anymore. I had 3 panic attacks in the 3 days after the surgery but after that it got much better. As for depression I have been feeling much better since I started getting out and moving around during the day and getting more exercise. Hopefully all goes as well for you as it I'd for me good luck

mosean, thanks so much for the reply. with that diet do you about how many grams of protein you are getting per day? My doctor is very lenient with the preop diet, only making me replace one meal a day for the last week with a protein shake. I asked if I could do a liquid diet to get my body used to it and she was fine with it but because she doesnt require it I have no information about it in my preop diet plan. Thanks for any details you can provide. Good luck everyone

Hey mosean, JW what kind of a liquid diet are you doing? Like how much protein and how many calories and such. Anyone else who is one the liquid diet I would appriciate you sharing this information also.

LOL ya! Think of how thin you would be if you are still on the shake on Christmas JK I think that people who are having complications come on this board for support. Most people who the band is working for and are loving it have better things to do (like enjoying their awesome new bodies) than post on here for support. We will all just have to stick around and let people know about our successes  We can do this!

We will have to be each other strength! Ihope we can all really help each other out because I am not really telling many people in my life and I have a feeling I will need the support I wish I had advice for those who are really struggling with preop diets but (especially since I was approved) I have been super motivated to keep it up lately. I cant wait to do this! Gah! Cant the 16th come quicker??? LOL

Hah! All this bagel talk is making me want a bagel mmmmm. Haha supporting each other fail! We always gain weight at the least convienient times. I had to do a 6 month diet for my insurance and somehow I managed to gain 25 pounds during that time. (though i had just moved into the dorms and I wont even pretend I was trying to diet) That sounds like a cool study. I have like a freakishly slow metabolism that my doctors cant explain (LOL or dont even try, they just send me for thyroid tests evey five minutes *duh not the thyroid!*) If there is anything that we can do to speed up our weight loss its worth a try:) Alas Im off to bed ttyl and glad you have joined our september board!

Welcome hmarko and congrats :smile2:! I think that the amount of help question might be better posed on the post-band section. I am not really sure, I think that I will need help (LOL but I'm kinda a baby when it comes to pain and taking care of myself) but then you might be more self sufficient than me. I actually ended up moving home from college for a year so my mom can help me out and I can learn to eat healthily on the band. I wouldnt assume you are never going to be able to eat a bagel again, I think most people when they are maintaining can eat just about anything just in much smaller amounts. Hah, as for the weight gain, I am like you when I gain I seriously gain and when I lose I am pretty good about dropping fast (though never as much as I gained ) I am very excited to start this journey and we can all support each other

    Horseback riding

I would clear that one with your surgeon because it is still going to be ab work which you cant do until your surgeon clears you. Glad to see you are feeling beter  (or atleast I guess you are because you are talking about climbing ontop of a horse which I would do in my best condition )
  18. Hah! Arent those hoops fun? But you are almost finished! Way to go! We will be on our way very soon! Luck with approval!

Greg: Hah! I totally know how you feel. I started my six month insurance diet and managed to gain 23 pounds. Somehow they still approved me... I jumped through all of the hoops though I guess maybe they thought that with the weight gain I really needed this. I am down 10.9 of those pounds already though and am hoping to go down to where I was 6 months ago just because I would feel safer for surgery at the weight. I may be only 19 but I already have heart problems because of my weight :scared2:. Mickey: Have fun at the party and tell the bday boy best wishes. IDK why but for some reason giving up things like bday cake and doing preop diet feel really good to me. I feel like I'm taking the right steps forward. LOL and I feel like I have control over what I eat which is something I rarely feel. You can think about that feeling perhaps at the party when you are watching everyone else eat cake :tt1: that and running with the grandkids and seeing them graduate from college and get married. I'm so glad to see more Septeberers joining this board we have to spread the word! ttys

Pleasure to meet you tnz! :scared2: I'm glad people are starting to find this September board :tt1: I cant wait to get to know you guys too! I decided not to tell anyone outside by SDBFF and my family about the surgery so I am hoping the rest of the September banders can be some of my support. I have no idea what shakes to get either. If you find any particularly yummy or easy to get down shakes let me know because I will need some too

Very exciting! Keep us posted! I have to schedule that appointment when I get back from camping :scared2: Were going to kick all this weight in the butt together :tt1: congrats everyone
  23. I'm not there yet but that was one of the first things that my surgeon (who has the band herself) told me. She was like you might think that first 85 pounds are hard but thats only because you havent tried to lose those last 5 pounds yet :scared2: best of luck

Yay! I am going camping all of next week, so I am hoping to drop a lot with all the hiking and eating well. I cant wait! Ever since I got my approval I have been very motivated and have lost over 10 pounds (which is good because I gained on my 6 month insurance diet) I am hoping I can stay this motivated until I lose to my goal :scared2: do you guys have any goals to hit before surgery?
  25. I would try anyways my insurance company says that they accept 35+ if you have a comorbity like yours. I have cigna though but good luck
