  1. I have a 6 yr old daughter in 1st grade - and I told her from the time I decided to have the surgery. She can SEE that I am overweight - and she understood when I told her I was going to have some surgery to HELP me get rid of the extra weight. I have been on the pre-op liquid diet for 12 days now - and she knows that I have to eat/drink my "diet food". I have raised her eating healthy foods in healthy quantities. She is a little upset that she has to go to school on the day of my surgery. But my husband/her dad is going to bring her up to see me when she get's out of school.
  2. I get banded on April 28th - and have been on the pre-op diet since April 13th. I cheated the other day -- stopped and got a rallyburger....it tasted soooo good while I was eating it. But about 10-15 minutes afterwards my digestive system went wild on me -- boy it wasn't used to that stuff. So it worked --- reminded me that being healthy is the way to go - and keep to the right portions.
  3. Hi Everyone - So glad to hear that many of you are doing so well post-op. I am 3 days from surgery (April 28th) - and getting anxious. I can't wait!!! Have a good weekend everyone!
  4. Hi -

I am doing okay - just a couple days before my surgery. I just can't believe it is almost here.

The actual consult that I had with Dr Richardson went fine - no NEW questions - just confirming what had already been asked by my primary doc, the intake nurse, the nurtritionist, etc.

I got all my shakes on the day of the consult - My favorite are the Chicken and Tomato soup. The strawberry shake tastes horrible (to me anyway). The Chocolate is okay and so is the Pineapple Apricot.

The doc told me that I don't NEED to use the products they sell - but they want to make sure what I do use has the right protein and stuff in it.

Have you had your psch eval and nutrition eval?

One thing I would like this office to promote is the use of this website or e-mail between patients (those that want too!) -

and maybe have more opportunity for face to face support group meetings.

  5. Ok - I am 6 days into my pre-op liquid diet. I am trying different Protein powders for my shakes - and I am about Jell-o'd out. Please post your favorite protein powders, shakes, allowed foods and recipes for the liquid diets (Pre and Post). Thanks - I need to get my shopping done and would appreciate your comments, ideas and recipes!! Getting banded = 8 days!!!

    Mid-Michigan LapBandsters

Once I got the 6wk of classes and ALL of the required tests/items were in their hands - I had my pre-op visit with the surgeon and got my pre-op diet shakes. I could have scheduled the surgery 14 days out (because of the 14 day pre-op diet) - but due to work project and a planned vacation - my surgery date was scheduled for much later - I have felt a bit of a disconnect due to the time from my completion of classes and my surgery - I thought I might get a call from the someone on staff when sometime during this 14-day diet -- but I haven't yet and my surgery is next Tuesday.
  7. Hi - I am a "soon to be banded" patient of Dr Lane - at Ingham Reg Hosp. Anyone out their also a patient with them? They have had sooooo many seminars - the weekly meetings are PACKED - so thought some of you may be on this site and we could exchange stories and suport each other throught the process. :crying:

Drs Lane and Richardson - Lansing

Cool - I am going to be banded next Tuesday - April 28th- :rolleyes2: I think Dr Richardson will be my surgeon - I can't wait -
  9. Thanks for the replies ....... It sounds like milk in included in most of your pre-op diets? Mine diet does not include milk, just Water - mixed with the Protein shakes/soups Which made me thinkg that I could not have pudding, milk, etc. Hmm........maybe i will call my dr office and ask.
  10. I see the ad banner here on LapBand Talk - but I wonder if anyone on here has tried it?
  11. Glad to hear you are doing well - 21 lbs that is awesome!!

The cruise was great - nice weather, and OMG the food - I sort of went crazy some days/meals - but kept it pretty close to my "normal".

We talked about taking another in in 2 years - I think I will be able to enjoy the "at the pool" scene better then.

  12. Hi Everyone- I am getting banded on April 28th............and I am on day 3 of the pre-op liquid diet. yesterday was horrible - today is good - so I am hoping that tomorrow will be even better. Anyone else with an April 28th date?

Okay Bunnies... who have you told?

I have told a few people -- we had a "Biggest Loser" type competition at my work last year and I told the 13 of them through an e-mail, I told them that I was open to questions, comments, etc ....only ONE has said anything to me about it, and that ONE is very supportive! My husband is still not understanding it all - he is supportive. My daughter is my best support and she is SIX YEARS old........I can't believe it - yesterday at dinner while I was having my shake. She said "you are having your diet food?" and I said "yep, I am... and you are having your healthy dinner too." She then said, "Mom you having the surgery will really make you healthy." I almost cried!
  14. I am 3rd day in with the pre-op liquids.......yesterday was SOOOO hard for me - it seemed like I was smelling food everywhere. I had a huge headache all day, and felt dizzy most of the day. Today is going better -- no headache and not having the HUGE hunger pains, yet. Congrats to all that have had recent surgery - keep it up --- can't wait for my turn on April 28th!!
  15. Hang in there and do your best today - minute by minute - only YOU can do this -- and YES, you can!!!
  16. Hi everyone! I am back from my 2 weeks of vacation (well sort of the 1st week was for work). I started my liquids today -- and I have to say that I have not had any 'hunger pains' yet - but I think that is because I am busy at work and not having time to think about eating. My "bad" time is at night - after my daughter goes to bed. Will see how the rest of the day and 13 days ahead goes..............a little scared and anxious. glad to hear others have been banded and are doing ok --
  17. How did your surgery go?

I just got back from 2 weeks away - 1 for work and 1 on a cruise!

Hope you are doing ok - my surgery isn't until April 28 and it is here in Lansing, Dr Mindy Lane of Minimally Invasive Surgical Associates.

  18. Just got done with the surgeon consult -- my surgery date is April 28!!! It could have been sooner - however, I have some work projects that I MUST get completed prior to surgery and we have a CRUISE scheduled April 5-12.... so 2 weeks of shakes after the cruise and then I am a go!!!! :blushing: YEA!!! I am so excited!!!:blushing:
  19. tstanart - you and I are the same size and weight -- I am older though (lol!) --- You are getting banded 3 wks ealier than me -- so keep me posted how things go - k?
  20. Hi there!

I am a fellow Michigander -- so I thought I would say hello!

    I don't start my 14 pre-op until Apirl 13 - and then I get banded on April 28.

I am in the Lansing area -- what about you?

  21. I start my 14 day pre-op liquids on April 13 - (day after my return from a 7-day cruise!). Good Job you guys that are on it now -- keep up the great work!
  22. OK - thanks I don't know that I could/would use all of the things...so the cost probably isn't worth it to me, right now. Here is a web site that I found - and have been using...works pretty well for me. You enter your daily food and Water intake and you record your activity. AND it is FREE!!! It may not be helpful for everyone though. Calorie Counter, Diet Tracking, Food Journal, Nutrition Facts at The Daily Plate

    Meet the Bunnies

Hello - My name is Stephanie I am 46 yrs old, married for 12 years and have a 6 year old daughter. I have been overweight most of my life - even when I was a competitive athlete - my family always made fun of me becasue I was the FAT gymnast! I had looked into getting the lapband in 2006, but my husband got deployed - and then in 2008 I started to look into it again -- and again he got deployed!! He is back - and I am now getting banded!! April 28 is my surgery date. I can not wait to get it done and start getting rid of this excess weight. I want to go for walks and bike rides - go to Cedar Pointe and actually have fun. I can not wait to wear a regular swim suit. Thanks -
