    LapBand VS Sleeve??

I stand behind what I wrote, you clearly have no concept of what the sleeve is considering what YOU have written. The sleeved stomach does not stretch "back out like they were before the surgery." This was taken from one of several sleeve sites which all give the same info. Note the sixth statement. Risks Sleeve gastrectomy is more common in Europe, but most American health insurance carriers still consider it an investigational procedure and do not cover the cost. Anytime you have anesthesia or surgery, there is a risk of blood clots, other complications or death. Do not smoke. Smoking would put you at high risk for infection, blood clots, slow healing and other life-threatening complications. Complications can occur with the stapling, such as leaks or bleeding. You may need malabsorptive surgery – intestinal bypass or duodenal switch – in addition to your sleeve gastrectomy in order to lose all the weight you need and want to lose. The smaller portion of the stomach may stretch. Foods that you eat now may cause discomfort, nausea or vomiting after your surgery. Gastric surgery puts you at higher than normal risk of developing gallstones and gallbladder disease. You will not lose weight or maintain your weight loss unless you eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly. This is the reason we stress long-term follow-up with our center and your doctor.
  2. Amen Sister!! That was what I was trying to convey in my original post, but of course got drawn in by the drama and took the bait!
  3. Seriously??? Because it makes me laugh! Oh, and I am SO sorry about that "last word" comment. guess I Was TOTALLY wrong about that one...And of course you are RIGHT and EVERYONE ELSE is wrong because you have been officially crowned "Queen of the Lapband World"! I bow to Thee as should all others on this board. But SERIOUSLY, when did I say anything about "mods closing this thread"? You no more have the right to tell me to skip this thread than I have the right to tell you not to no longer post here . And who's telling who not to "open it any more to get updates"? Puhleeeze, why not follow your own advice and move on? Oh, I forgot...because you're RIGHT! and I am definitely not "wagging" my finger at you.
  4. Always have to have the last word, don't you?.....
  5. People, people.....! Please move on! No matter how much each of you rant and rave, you are not going to get everyone to agree with you!! You are all starting to sound like lunatics! (although I must admit that I am reading this thread several times a day to see who pops up next with a counter attack). No one here is an EXPERT and each and every one of us has his or her opinion...and you know what they say about opinions....Everyone on here has made some valid points (except for the name calling which is totally immature). No one is totally right and no one is totally wrong. Some are arguing just for the sake of arguing. Why don't you all name a time and place, meet and face each other and duke it out until the last man or woman is standing and he or she will be the winner! I will sell the tickets for this event!:smile2::eek::eek:

I really wanted that chinese food

I had this surgery so I would not have to be on a diet the rest of my life. I do not eat non-fat(what that stuff is made of is just as bad for you),and I eat some low-fat. I figure if I'm going to eat small quantities, it's going to be good tasting quality food, not tasteless diet crap. I eat regular salad dressing, etc., just less of it. I love what the band has done for me. I eat well balanced meals plus the occasional treat and even some junk food, but in limited quantities. I have eaten chinese, burgers, hot dogs, bbq, pizza, etc. It' wonderful to be able to eat what I want, stay in control and still lose weight!
  9. Went to the doctor today and he told me what to keep as an "Emergency Kit". He says after walking, moving around, etc. doesn't help if you are stuck, a small amount of Adolph's meat tenderizer mixed with water, or a swallow of Coke will help to dissolve the food. It should only be used if all else fails and not on a regular basis. :thumbup:Good to know:thumbup:

    Sore throat

After my surgery, I had thrush, which was caused by the antibiotics given during surgery. I had a white throat and tongue. Gross! I called the dr. office and they called in a prescription for me. Gotta warn you though, the liquid medicine was terrible. but it cleared it up in a couple of days.Good Luck!

    anyone not full off protein?

I don't stay full on protein either. I usually also have a salad or some other vegetable, plus a little potatoes or pasta. We have to do what works for us. As long as we're still losing weight and not doing anything harmful, we're ok.
  16. Having this surgery is the best thing I have ever done in my life! You will be fine. Good luck to the new you!

    New and Lots of Questions

Have you lost any weight? I had my surgery Jan 5 and my first fill Feb. 24. I can eat more than I could after surgery, but am eating way less than I used to before the surgery. The full feeling is subtle for me. Usually when I burp or hiccup, I know I'm full. My doctor calls this the "soft stop". I have had no problems what-so-ever and have lost 24 lbs. total since pre-op diet. Not as fast as I would like, but it is coming off. Good luck, and hang in there. Sometimes we are just too hard on ourselves.
  18. I had my surgery Jan. 5. I have had no complications. Just the general gas(shoulder) pains the first day. I get my first fill next week. Can't wait since this last week I have had no restriction.
