I am at the point of having soft foods. I know crackers isn't soft but when they go in the mouth they get soft. The reason I am asking is I can have tuna and chicken salad. They would be much better with crackers. Just one or two. Guess I really need to ask Nut.....But what experience have you had with saltines?

I know long term it isn't a good choice but neither is smashed potatoes. Thought maybe would help with the hunger and the need to chew...

Reeba1976, You will absolute love him. He is really nice and did my band 2 1/2 weeks ago. The whole staff is nice and helpful. He will answer all your questions. If you haven't been to the seminar he will require you to attend one. I went a couple of days before my first appointment and met him there and he answered a lot of questions, as well as giving out valuable information packets. Suzanne

Anyone else pain free after surgery?
Suzdavis replied to AngieB2009's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my surgery on April 14th and actually told the surgeon I had to look down my gown to really believe I had been cut on. I felt really lucky and blessed. -
Hey guys, Sitting here at work reading the posts and wondering how you were closed? Did you have staples or stitches or like me have the glue? I liked not having anything that would have to dissolve or be taken out. I have healed really good and the glue is just beginning to peel off. No problems...I was banded on 04-14-09. Just wondering how everyone else was done.....

Staples, Stitches or Glue?
Suzdavis replied to Suzdavis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't think to ask before hand either. Sorry about your problems Kage and Moonbeam. Hope everything heals good with them...I am two weeks out and my glue is only off on the small incision. I can't bring myself to go ahead and pull the others off. I think they will fall off on their on. I'm not a picker so I'll leave them alone.... -
Staples, Stitches or Glue?
Suzdavis replied to Suzdavis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is funny how different DR's can be. At least all have had good results..... -
OK guys I need a slap on the hand. I was banded on the 14th of April and haven't posted post-op yet. So here I am. Everything went super. I was required to stay overnight and let me tell you I got NO sleep in the hospital. If they had left me alone I would have been fine. I felt so good after surgery I had to look down my gown to make sure he had cut me. No pain at all. After getting home the next day I had a scare in that I tried to take a pain pill curshed up in Water and it felt like I had swallowed a golf ball. It stopped just below my breastbone and for 1 hour I spit foam and nasty tasting medicine. From Wednesday until Friday I couldn't even sip water. I knew I had to drink so I called the Dr and they told me to get in the office ASAP. Dr said he puts a small amount of fill in at the surgery and with my swelling it must have made it too much. He took a needle and withdrew 2CC's and immediately I felt better and could drink. From that point on I have felt great. I am still on liquids and am really ready for mushies next week. I know I can make it because it in only a few days more. Still not really hungry so Soup it will be.... Ready for the lbs to start dropping. Can't really start any excerise program yet but go back for a refill on the 14th of May. Guess I'll start then. Have been walking a bit every day after work.....

"No Fill For You!" Because I was a Stupid DooDoo POOPIE HEAD!!!
Suzdavis replied to Oblong's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oblong and lat1, Which kind of band did you receive? I had heard or read somewhere that the realize band comes out of surgery with a small fill but the lapband comes empty. Just checking to see if that was the case here...... Suzdavis -
Question about pre-surgery loss
Suzdavis replied to beautyqueen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon told me it was my weight and BMI at my first visit with him. I was borderline on the weight but with my diabetes, acid reflux and sleep apnea the BMI only had to be over 35 that also at the first weigh-in. -
Feeling Strange while on Pre-Op Diet
Suzdavis replied to Rogue's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Rogue, Are you a diabetic still taking meds? My Dr told me to watch my numbers and adjust if need be. I have been on pre-op for 3 days and sometimes have felt strange and when check my sugar it is really low. Just a thought. If so be sure and call your Dr and ask him how to adjust your medicines...... -

Hello Everyone... Am so excited to officially become an April Bandster. I am a happily married (36 years) overweight lady. In high school, where I met my husband, I was a slim cheerleader. Then the wedding and 15 months later a wonderful son. But he brought 50 extra pounds that never left. 5 years later a beautiful daughter and she couldn't be outdone so she also brought 50 pounds. I know it wasn't their fault the extra 100 lbs stayed around. I have numerous times gotten rid of 1/2 of the extra but you know......It found its way back. I am so looking forward to getting rid of all 100 lbs and more. I was approved for an April 14 surgery date and Cigna so graciously agreed to pay for the majority of the cost. I have Type 2 diabetes and Acid reflux along with sleep apnea. I so want to be able to throw the pills away. My first goad is to lose enough to skydive out of an airplane and land on knees that wouldn't hurt. BTW I am 54 years old but feel 40ish and can't wait to be able to act 40 instead of 80....

Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1
Suzdavis replied to Band_Groupie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yeah, I can officially call myself an April Bandster. I got insurance approval yesterday and my surgery date is April 14, 2009. I'm so excited. My DH and I went out last night for our 36th wedding anniversary  and I started my pre-op diet today. He is a sweetie and is drinking for breakfast what I am, and having for supper what I do. He said he would just take him something for lunch or go out with the guys at work. He is really making it easy for me. I can't wait to be small again. And more importantly get off these 3 diabetes meds..... -
Sorry this is a new term for me. I haven't had surgery yet but am scheduled for April 14th. Is Fill Center different than a surgeon who performs the surgery. Do certain Dr's only "fill" their patients? If not Dr "Fuzz" Fernandez is my surgeon at Wake Forrest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He and his staff are wonderful. Hope this helps.....
-
Hello, I am one of "Fuzz's" banders....I haven't had my surgery but have gone through the process and just yesterday got my insurance approval. My surgery is scheduled for April 14, 2009. Fuzz and his staff are first class. Everyone is so informed and each staffer knows what is expected from the other...I highly recommend them. I just started on the pre-surgery diet. Where are you located in NC. I live in Lexington....

Good for you!!! If you are like me I heard yesterday and it is a load off my mind. 6 months of work finally paid off. My date is April 14 and I am so ready....:tt1:

real difference between Realize band and LapBand?
Suzdavis replied to TeraDN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is scheduled for April 14 and my surgeon suggested the LapBand over the Realize band because of my size. I do have excess weight (about 100 lbs.) but not as much as some. He says for someone "smaller" he has better results from the LapBand not slipping.:huh2: -
I wish you the best of luck. Who is your insurance co? They submitted mine on Thursday of last week and the office called and said they had my approval today. I have Cigna...My surgery date is scheduled for April 14.
-
I think if you are self pay it doesn't really matter....I just got off the 6 month insurance required diet. Really it wasn't bad. I did the low carb and on that you can eat lots of things. All my blood work improved and I lost 26 lbs. I was kinda afraid the insurance co (Cigna) wouldn't approve me but I heard to day they did. The six months really flew by. You will have a lot of appointments and before you know it you will be planning the surgery... Best of luck with your diet.....
-
Yeah! Just got off the phone with the surgeon's office and they had received my approval for surgery from the Insurance Co. I have Cigna and was worried. Thought I'd have a wait but the information was submitted last Thursday afternoon and we got the OK this morning..... My date has been set up for April 14...Now for the pre-op diet. Need to start it tomorrow but it is not full liquids. I can have a low-fat small dinner so I am confident it will be tolerable. SuzDavis

I have to have a 3 week diet. Wow can't believe it is actually 3 weeks from today....Should have started today on the diet but didn't know for sure about the approval...Will get into it Gung Ho tomorrow..I have been on a low carb for my 6 month diet and lost about 26 lbs....Off to a great start... I live in central NC and am having the surgery at NC Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem NC. My doctor is Dr Al Fernandez...I really love him and his staff.... Now I need to figure out how to do a ticker...I have mainly been lurking here and decided to wait to attatch it until I was sure my insurance approved me....Yeaaaaaa!!!!

Realize Band or Lap Band
Suzdavis replied to Jacks2009's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked my Dr and he said with most band surgeries it doesn't matter. But he would advise me to have the Lap Band. He said he had several people that didn't have a great deal of weight to lose that the Realize Band slipped. I only have about 80-100 lbs to lose and he suggested I have the Lap Band. Good Luck with which ever you choose....
