Pebbles, sorry you're having such a rough time. We're all here for you so post when you need us! As for the ice cream, I agree, i don't think it hurts to have a scoop or two. As long as it's not a hot fudge sunday every night, I think you're safe!

I was banded August 15th. So far I've lost 23lbs, but I haven't lost anything in the last couple weeks. I'm going to try and get a fill scheduled for next week sometime. It'd be better if I could exercise but I hurt my knee and can't do too much because of that.
-
Mine took about 3 weeks to go back to normal. I couldn't button my pants for 2 weeks! Not fun, but it does go away.
-
Finally back and caught up! I'm so jealous of those of you getting fills. My doc doesn't do them unless you haven't lost any weight for 2 weeks in a row. I have lost each week, but up till this week it was only .5 lbs a week for awhile. But, started exercising this week and I lost 3 lbs! Yay! I feel almost no restriction though. I did have my first PB. Just a small one, passed in a couple minutes by dear god that was horrible. So I guess the band is doing something. I'm definately not eating as much as I used to, but I stop because I know I shouldn't eat more, not because I can't eat more. *sigh* I'm definately not hitting my 10lb goal for September. I think so far I've lost 6 this month, but can't tell for sure because I never actually wrote down my starting weight this month. I definately will for October though! Keep up the good work everyone.

Pebbles, I'd call your gyno and your surgeon, just to be on the safe side. Hope you're feeling better!
-
That sucks! I have no idea where you are located, but Dr. Heydari in Crystal Lake Il does lapbands at Centegra Memorial. That's where I got mine done and was thrilled with the program. Dr. Heydari is an excellent surgeon. Might be something to look into if the Wish Center won't honor your surgery. Hope you get it all figured out and can get banded on schedule. I can't believe the hospital would end the program and leave patients hanging like that. Seems like they should at least complete the ones they already have scheduled.

Well, one month out today and down 21 pounds. I haven't lost anything this week though, which is frustrating. But, if I don't lose any next week either, that means I'll be able to get my first fill! My docs policy is you get a fill when you haven't lost anything for 2 weeks. I feel little to no restriction now, so I want a fill. I get to progress to solids next week and I can't wait!

Post-op: How long until you progressed to solid food?
msbug replied to Constance's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had liquids for 3 weeks, pureed food for 4 weeks, soft foods for 3 weeks, then onto solids. I'm still in the puree stage and STARVING! -
Actually, if you add in the 2 week pre-op diet where I was only allowed 4 cans of Slim Fast a day, it'll be almost 3 months before I can have real food. :faint: Yep, it SUCKS and I'm HUNGRY! :hungry: How sad is it that I'm now really looking forward to next Tuesday when I can progress to soft foods? This puree stuff is getting really boring. Of course, 2 weeks ago, I was thrilled to get on purees. It's all semantics, right? And weird about the Mexican cravings, that's what I've got a taste for too.

Chrissie, don't give up! You're 7lbs less than you were 2 weeks ago. That's pretty impressive when you think about it! The weight's not going to fall off fast like it would with bypass. Just hang in there till your fill. Your body's been through a huge change and needs time to adjust. Mstrish, I was on liquids for 3 weeks before moving to pureed food. I'll have a total of 3 weeks on purees, then move to soft. 3 weeks of that, the regular. It sucks! What's everyone having for Breakfast these days? I'm tired of oatmeal and hate yogurt and cottage cheese. I'm at a loss for what to eat these days!
-
trizzy, you're probably in ketosis, which gives you extremely nasty breath. I highly suggest Crest mouth wash! :couch2: I was using it almost every time I went to the bathroom for 2 weeks after surgery.
-
Swelling and gas! I gained 9 lbs from the surgery. Don't worry, it will go down in a couple weeks.

Neuro-surgeon on Tuesday! Death to Pitunia!
msbug replied to vinesqueen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hit the road Petunia! Good luck. -
GE Mom, I'm on purees too. I've had tuna fish with a hard boiled egg added in. That alone gets me a ton of my protein. Breakfast is usually Quaker weight loss oatmeal, lunch seafood salad or egg salad. Or I'll take a baked potato and mash up the inside with a little melted cheese and some low fat sour cream. I'm liking mushies much better than the liquids!

Well, I've discovered where all the weight I have lost has come from. Apparently I'm losing weight in my boobs! My bras are driving me nuts they are riding up, straps falling down, and the cups are way too big all of a sudden. That's the one place I didn't really want to loose weight. I never thought the first new item of clothing I'd need to buy would be a freakin' BRA!!
-
I'm in! Although now I have to remember to check this forum for our thread, not the other one! I want to lose 10 pounds by October 1 and be able to fit into the jeans in my closet! I'm sooooo close. I didn't lose anything this week and it's frustrating. I know this isn't going to be easy, but with as little as we eat, you'd think I'd have lost something! I'd lost 2 lbs earlier this week, but when I started pureed, gained it back so it's a wash for the week. I'm hoping I'll lose at least 2 next week.
-
So, started real food (well, pureed real food) on Tuesday and I've managed to gain 2 lbs back. Guess I'll join the rest of you who did that when they switched off the liquid diet. Not fun. Hopefully I'll start losing again soon. But I have to say, I'm thrilled to be having real food now! Who knew tuna fish and egg salad could taste so yummy?
-
Booda, I also gained a lot from the fluids and it took a week to get back down to my presurg weight. Most of the swelling has gone down in the 2 weeks since surgery, but I asked my doc yesterday and he said it could take as much as 6 weeks for all the swelling to go down. :faint: That shocked me! I had problems sleeping the first few days too. Once I got back to my bed though I started sleeping like a log. Hang in there!

Holy carp libra! You get a fill already?! My doc won't even consider doing them till 6 weeks out, and then only if you lose no weight 2 weeks in a row. lucky you that you don't have to wait that long!
-
libra, sorry you had to have that first pb. Bet it taught you a good lesson though! I had a cheeseburger tonight and it tasted divine! Of course, I pureed it in the food processor with some ff dressing till it looked like cat food. But it still tasted great! whimsicalclay, glad your surgery went well! I was the unlucky one who gained 9 lbs of fluid, so I'm happy to hear that seems to be the exception, not the rule. Take it easy the next few days.
-
Jamie, I think it's fine for the first couple weeks post op. Remember, you're losing some of the fluid they pumped in you too. I've technically lost 17 lbs since surgery on the 15th, but I have to factor in that 9 lbs of that was extra fluids and bloating (I was 9lbs heavier the day after surgery than I was the morning of surgery!). I had my appointment with the surgeon today for follow up and he said I should only try to lose 2 lbs a week from here on out. Not sure how that's going to work for the next week or so though, I've already lost 3 this week! It should stablize in the next couple weeks though and you'll start losing slower. Meanwhile, I got the all clear to move on to purees now! Yippee! How sad is it that I'm excited about eating stuff the same texture as baby food? But I was so tired of pudding and soup. I pureed some seafood salad for lunch and it was heavenly! I'm doing a chicken breast w/ a little ff sour cream tonight. I'm so happy I can have more flavor now.
-
After I was banded I looked like I was 8 months pregnant I was so bloated! Tommorow is my 2 week mark and I'm still a bit swollen, but not nearly as bad as before. The Gas-X caplets did nothing for me, but the chewable Rolaids that are for gas, bloating, etc. worked well.
-
Great list, thanks! It's nice to see everyone listed out like that. Good luck to all of next week's banders! The month is almost over, which means the end of the wait (or is it weight? ) is near for all of you!
-
pbrown, part of it is probably your diet, but part is just the simple fact you had surgery only a little over a week ago! It takes a while for the anesthesia to work its way out of your system, which can cause fatigue for a few weeks after surgery. I was banded on the 15th and still feel weak sometimes, like when blowdrying my hair too. Just take it easy for the next few days, no matter how good you feel, you're still healing! As for the headaches, did you stop caffeine when you had the surgery? If so, could be withdrawl from that. Hope you start feeling better soon.

Ok, so after my little temper tantrum earlier (sorry 'bout that!) because I've "only" lost 6 pounds since surgery I talked to my mom and she reminded me that I've lost 6 lbs since this past Sunday, so less than a week. I was 9lbs heavier after the surgery and it took me till Sunday to get back to the weight I was the morning before surgery. So, I lost 9lbs in the 5 days after surgery and 6lbs since then. So I feel better now for some reason. I think all these liquids are starting to get to me.
