2 weeks until Banding
Fluffy_Gurl replied to taeboguy-too's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also getting my band on the 12th! Very excited I do not have to do opti-fast but Clear liquids for 3 days. Which I am not excited about but I did quit smoking cold turkey to have the surgery and so far have gone almost 40 days without smoking, so I figure if I can make it through that I can make it through the few weeks of not really eating food lol Best of luck o all of us, here hoping for great surgery outcomes and healthier bodies! -
So, my wonderful boyfriend has started expressing concerns that i'm gonna get all skinny and then leave him. We have a LDR so that makes it a little harder. He is also 11 years older than me. These are issues for him mostly, I have no issues with either. altho I would love for him to move back here since his whole family lives less than two hours from me. anyway, I am not sure how to address this. I know they are his insecurities but I love him, have no intentions on leaving him, in fact just the opposite. the first thing i thought of when i got the approval from my ins for the surgery was wooohoooo I can wear a pretty wedding dress! Of course we arent exactly engaged yet but we have talked about it and I am sure it is in our future. He is the man i want to marry. Help!!! Any advice?????????????????? Please and thank you!

Lmbao. Funny! I seriously giggled for 5 min! seriously tho...the kind of guys who "like" bad girls, only like them while they are being "bad" after that they arent a second thought. Stick with being who you are and the right boy will fall into place.

Congrats! and Welcome! I think that you may benefit from joining an overeaters annon. group before your surgery. being prepared emotionally will help you be successful when u get your band!

Someone who has never had a weight problem will never understand. Even though my family is trying to be supportive they just dont get it. Until someone has gone through the emotional issues of being overweight, the teasing, staring, shopping in the "fat girl section" getting stared at when looking in the "regular section" for a gift, been laughed at etc. They will never understand. just like i dont understand what its like to be a smokin hot sex godess...yet anyway lol I say...screw em! yu have support here. If they dont like it they dont have to have the surgery. right? As long as you believe in you thats all that matters! Good luck in your new journey!

Surgery scheduled January 14th! Having a hard time quitting smoking!!
Fluffy_Gurl replied to cherrybomb4949's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i had to quit too, altho i knew i would be tested, hardest thing i have ever done, on the bright side i know if i can quite smoking i can b successful with the band. I would call ur dr office and let them know you have been "chewing the gum" on occasion. and quit smoking now!!! -
Im not banded yet...but that being said...alo of the anti anxiety meds as well as antidepressants com in "sprinkle" form. you can look them up online to see if there is a med that would work for you that is similar to zoloft. personally, I dont function well without my antidepressants so I hope that i will be able to take mine after i get my band.

I just lost my job right before my surgery! help!
Fluffy_Gurl posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So..yesterday...I found out that I no longer have a job...I am still waiting to see when my ins will run out. I am so frustrated, sad, and angry. After three years of doing research on lap band etc, I finally had insurance that covered the suregery, made the appts and had the surgery scheduled....October 26 (they scheduled it out because I had to quit smoking for two months prior to surgery per the doc) I am now 25 days without smoking cold turkey.... Has anyone else had this happen to them??? What did you do? I am contemplating asking the surgeons office if they would move up the surgery but I dont know if that is even an option.....This sucks!!!! Not only do I not have a job but have no surgery either? BUMMED BIG TIME!!! -
Im not banded yet..but I hope things go well for you!!! good luck with your new doc and the revision!

Maybe find a genre of books you may enjoy, music, meditation, writing, painting, .... im on my own path of discovery..not banded yet but quit smoking and i am definatly trying hard not to fill that void with food. I am feeling the lonliness pain too!

Does COBRA continue the insurance you already have or is it a different insurance? -
Is there anything that you regret not eating before your band? Something that you cant eat now? Is there anything that you cant eat now that you have your band that you thought you would be able to eat? Have your tase buds changed? Does food taste different? Just a few things I've been wondering about today..like..."Am I gonna be able to eat celery?"

First of all....always remember that BOYS ARE DUMB! It doesnt matter how old they are etc...they are always boys. Secondly, there are so many guys out there that you shouldnt worry about the one who may not have wanted to have lunch, maybe hes recently started to see someone etc... Nevertake it personally. The best advice I can give is to do things that make you happy, get involved in something that you enjoy outside of work. when your happy and not looking the right one will fall right into your lap. And stop stressing about that guy. Why would you want to be with a guy who isnt polite enough to say maybe another time...or something similar. YOU are worth someone who is interested in you for everything that you are! So I guess what I am saying is never settle for the guy who isnt going to be everything you deserve!!! Find ways to spend tmie with others who may not be of the opposite sex and form some friendshps. That takes care of being lonely. lonely sometimes leads to bad choices in mates.

How did you do it????
Fluffy_Gurl replied to Fluffy_Gurl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nicotine slows the healing process and can cause other complications and increases the risk of blood clots -

Begging for help!!! Personal Choice/ BCBS insur. PA
Fluffy_Gurl replied to JWL08's topic in Insurance & Financing
Although I havent been banded yet in my research i have found that several doctors wont band less than a year after you have a child, also your insurance company might be more inclined to approve you after your thyroid issues are under control..this is just my personal opinon not based on personal experience for what its worth. -
Octuplets Mom...Should she...?
Fluffy_Gurl replied to rodriguezequal's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I voted yes. I whole heartedly believe that this woman has serious mental health issues. Who in their right mind would do this? Taking her children away from her would be the best thing to ever happen to these children. Children should have parents who love them. I do not believe that this woman loves her children. The only reason she had these children was for some kind of claim to fame or recieve material things she could not afford for herself. In most cases children are born from love, not that this is true in all cases but in most, and deserve to have loving homes to go to. This woman on the other hand has thought of no one but herself. How in the world is she going to support all of these children. I am not just talking about financially but emotional as well. these children not to mention her already existing children are going to suffer because of ehr mental instability. Who does something like this? it is almost unfathomable to me that a woman, a mother, would know she was having this many children and not even have car seats to bring them home in??? Did she think the magic fairy was going to safely deliver them home? I am a single mom of one and i struggle every day to make ends meet and to be there for my child. I do not feel that this woman has any idea of what she has done and the implications for her and these children for the rest of their lives. I say shame on her, shame on the doctors who implanted her, and shame on her family and friends for not trying to get this woman some therapy after she had the first six. -
I was just wondering if anyone has gone through surgeryloans.com for financing for lb surgery..if you had not so great credit and what your payments are. I am looking at dr.kirshenbaum in denver area and he charges around 10,000 self pay. just looking for some advice and maybe what to expect. thanks!

I hate it when people post just to post.....

I can soooo understand your frustration. I live next to a high school and the teens are horrid. I catch them in my yard smoking drinking etc all the time. they think because I live close to the school that they can treat it as their property and do with it as they please. They climb my tree in the front yard, throw their trash everywhere, leave unmentionable items in my yard...its disgusting!!!! My neighbor and I have teamed up and have acually started photgraphing them and turning the pics into the police. They do all of these wonderful horrid things after school as well. All hours of the night and weekends also. I would think having been a teenager once that hanging out near the hs on the weekend wouldnt be so cool but appearantly I am wrong. the photos have cut down on the mischief some but we are still working on eliminaing it!!! Good Luck with the unruley!
