  1. ah the infamous slime!!! stick with mushy foods for a few days, your usually tighter right after a fill for a few days and eat very slowly and chew chew chew. it take a little bit to get the hang of it. when i eat too fast i get the exact symptoms you're describing. mornings are tighter too, drinking warm tea or decaff helps get the day started. If it gets to much that you can't stand by all means look into an unfill but chances are in a few days you will be better. i had an overfill once (matter of fact it was my second fill too) but i have a twisted port and not so easy for me to get an unfill, it was game on then. but within a few weeks it got easier and let me tell you that was a record breaking month in weight loss for me too!
  2. no don't do it. isn't there anybody in the dr's office who can do it? mine has a nurse practitioner who does it, I rarely even see my dr anymore. is there anybody who is his back up when he is away? there has to be another option
  3. ladyt during my pre op I was allowed protein shakes and for supper i was allowed to eat a lean cuisine (preportioned was best option for me), it wasn't strictly all liquid. they want you to limit your calorie and carb intake so your liver will shrink to make it easier for them during surgery is my understanding. ask your dr what the calorie and carbs they want you to consume. doesn't sound to me like you broke a cardinal rule anywhere
  4. all good advise on here but I was going to say what has already been said, the grazing can really add up before you know it and when i have had problems with salmon it was usually because it was too dry
  5. I know I don't have as much padding as I use to and when I had been dieting before I would notice this. Sometimes I get so cold or feel chilled. Does anybody feel this way sometimes? I realize being mid 40's women go thru hormonal things but I don't think it's associated to mid life. My sister said she use to get chills when she dieted and was losing weight. I was just curious if anybody else goes thru this. It's not all the time either just every so often. Any ideas?
  6. popped in when I saw central, southern illinois good luck mrmrslamb you will do great. theidle- I too was banded by dr rhorschieb in september and now I've hit my first goal and am below 200, I haven't been in the 100's in over 20 years! 189 dr said 160 should be a good weight for me to set as goal and my loss will start to slow down now. it's nice to run into some "locals" on here. keep up the good work!

    Wondering about extra skin

at your age the extra skin might not be as big an issue, on average weight loss is about 2 lbs a week with lap band.

    Soda soda soda

that doesn't make sense to me sense the band is on the outside of the stomach.? I find I can eat flat breads such as tortilla shells, but only with small bites and chew like crazy, but i think mexican foods is one of the highest calorie choices out there so I only do that as special occasion on a high calorie day

    Soda soda soda

that's enough right there to stear me away from sodas

    confused

I usually keep sugar free breath mints with me and suck on one after a meal to help cleanse the pallet. that helps me make it through the hour
  11. my story is a duplicate of linda's the moment i started eating real food the weight came back faster than i could blink. and the medifast program is not cheap

    Unnaturally cold all the time

I've posted the same complaint too...... it comes and goes, I've heard comments that it has to do with the less amount of fat you consume to your metabolism to the less padding you have now. all i can say is, bundle up and hang in there till summer

    After a Fill

after the swelling and irritation goes down from the surgery you will feel hunger before your first fill. I only lost weight the first 6 weeks by pure willpower (don't know where that came from. after my first fill lost a few more but the third fill it was game on. I just had my fourth fill yesterday. i might not have made leaps and bounds in my loss but it's been steady
  14. definately, you don't want an infection. but I will say there is a nagging sensation in the port sight that can last for months but will get better. it's been about 7 months for me now since i've been banded and every so often it reminds me it's still there but nothing bothersome, but definately if it feels like it getting worse don't hesitate to call the doctor
  15. I agree Snowgator, it really inspires me to hear how others are getting along. I'm assuming when you say you get stuck you mean the food not going down. I have that prob if I let myself get too hungry and then I will tend to eat too fast and not chew properly, I still have to remind myself at times to slooooow down and chew chew chew. I'm so glad to have found you all and read how you are all doing. Here it April we got another month behind us, ALMOST THERE. gotta go, Biggest Loser is on, I'm hooked on that show
  16. a lot of times we get wrapped up on size numbers. i was so excited that i bought a pair of jeans the other day that were a 14, i hadn't worn a 14 in probably 20 years. my sister reminded me as we were leaving that store that that particular store usually does run a little large, my responce who cares, tag says 14 so they are a 14. i agree with what a lot are saying on here, we do lose here and there and the fit probably isn't the same and the visual perception that we have of ourselves. i have heard a lot of times people constantly view themselves at their heaviest even after they've lost considerable amounts
  17. I know what you mean, too funny. i can't wait until summer this year. I have always in back of my mind dreaded summer because of the heat and I was always self councious in summer clothes. but this year, first hot day and i'm going to sit in the back yard and soak up the sun!!!!
  18. That makes total sense. I couldn't figure out why when trying on pants everything was always baggy in the legs and butt but then if i found them to not be baggy I couldn't snap them.. it was making me very frustrated and one time when i did find a pair that fit real good like it was made for me the very next week when I went to put them on they were too big allready.. what's up with that?

    How often do you weigh?

I had to finally take my scale to my daughters house so I can't step on it every time I walk past it. I was getting way to obsessed. but still if I am visiting someone and see a scale in their bathroom, guess what I'm on it! probably not a good idea since all scales weigh differently, so now I only log what I weigh at the gym once a week
