Hello ljv. Sounds like it was a rough start but a happy outcome. I kind of felt the same way about the restriction. I definitely feel tighter in the morning but I guess I thought I would feel full all of the time and not be hungry like I felt in the beginning. That is not how I feel at all. I still get hungry, but I can't eat nearly as much without getting full very fast. Therefore, I eat a smaller amount of whatever I cook for dinner and then wait. I can usually tell if I have eaten to much because I get very full and feel miserable for being so stuffed. So it is a live and learn kind of experience for me. I have to learn what I can handle. The good news is that I get to eat normal foods, just not as much as before and I get the added benefit of having good food (I do avoid breads though) and I get to lose weight too. Again, this is just my experiences so far with one fill. Nothing stuck yet....Yay! Take care and Good luck!

Okay; just had my first fill about an hour ago. It was not bad at all. Took less than 5 minutes. The surgeon came in with his nurse; used their mobile ultrasound to locate my port; wiped my incision down with iodine and stuck the needle in (it did not hurt at all). He talked to me the entire time which helped, so I knew what was going on. He took any air out of the band and then put in 3 cc's of saline. I had a few sips of water to make sure I could swallow and then I was done. Of course they told me to call if I have any complications, especially vomiting. I stick with clear liquids today, then soft liquids tomorrow and then back to food on Saturday. If there are no problems then I go back in a month. Good luck to all! Stay strong!

I haven't posted in a while either; guess it means I am feeling better. Really, February was very busy and hectic for us. My dad left on the 15th, so I am back to caring for myself and my family, so it has been slow but constant. I can tell I am feeling much better because I do not have any more gas pain or heartburn that I had previously when I eat. I am now hungry a lot. I am down about 20-25 pounds but did not lose any last week when we had friends visit from out of town. I ate a lot. Not as much as before, but more than usual. Believe me, I felt full and miserable later. I didn't lose any weight but I was surprised that I did not gain any. I go for my first fill on the 5th of March. I am truly excited about this fill. I think I have healed enough that I need it to get some restriction. I hope everyone is doing well. Believe me there were times, I just wanted the band out, but now I don't hurt at all and I am feeling fine. I used the Gas-X strips for the gas pain and I used Prilosec OTC 1 x daily for the heartburn. I still have the occasional hiccup burps, but nothing painful. Good luck!

Hello fellow 1/27 bandsters! Just checking in. I think I am finally getting past the gas build up in my system. I am still mostly doing the soft liquids and my surgeon did not mention "mushies", he just mentioned soft foods; so last night I ate a small helping of my dad's spaghetti. I have been saving up for this moment..and it was so good. I was proud of myself for not eating very much; but last night and this morning I have a terrible pain in the breastbone area. It almost feels like heartburn. I am not sure what to make of it, but I don't think I will be doing that again anytime soon. Any suggestions? Good Luck to everyone. -

Wow! Hello fellow 27th Bandsters! It truly helps having this forum and site to look all of this information up. I too was banded on the 27th of Jan and quickly started regretting my decision. I do not even remember the surgery or coming home. The med's were great....hehe. They gave me one of the sea-sick patches to wear behind my ear until Friday so I did not experience the nausea, but the gas pain was certainly more than I expected and I quickly got the Gas-X strips and a heating pad and that helped a lot. I have also been walking a lot. It's strange, it felt like the gas was moving up. Yesterday I hurt in my neck and shoulder, but after my f/u w/my surgeon and reading this site I learned that was normal and now that I am on liquids until Friday, I am much better. Clear liquids was getting boring. Luckily, my surgeon gave me liquid Hydrocodone for the first few days so I took that at night and if needed I take the liquid Tylenol. I am starting to feel better and am just taking it one day at a time. My surgeon said I can walk on the treadmill, so I am hopeful that will help pass the time, since I am not working at the moment. I would definitely have to say that today has been the best day so far, but I have been bloated and gassy for most of this experience so far. I don't go for my first fill until 3/5/09, so we'll see how I do with the rest of this month. Good luck to all! It will get better! -
I am new to this forum, but am also scheduled to get my band on 1/27/09. I am so excited, but this 1 week clear liquid diet is hard. I've broken down twice, but both times I ate a lot better than I did previously, and I am trying again to get back on track. Hopefully, this won't delay my procedure at all because that would be devastating. My dad is driving down tomorrow to help us out this week until I get back on my feet. I just felt like chiming in. Good luck to all this week!
