  1. I have been having problems with my fills for a few months now. It started when I went in for my 3rd fill and it felt like all my restriction had gone away. I went in a week later to have some more Fluid put in and I haven't been the same since; waking up in the middle of the night choking on saliva and whatnot. I went to the ER and had my band totally drained. A month later I went in and they filled me with 7 cc's. (There was a lot more to this but I'm paraphrasing.) I just went in for my 1st fill since the 7 cc's and I'm up 2 lbs. and have esophageal dilation. It was horrible! Seeing them put 2 cc's in me, having the liquid not flow through the band and feeling totally fine, like I didn't just drink anything!! Well needless to say I flipped out!! I don't understand!! How badly did I just damage my body!??! And I tried asking my doctor what this really meant and all he did was give me the fat girl talk about watching what I eat and needing to exercise. FORGET THE WEIGHTLOSS!! I want to know what I just did to my body!?! Is this reversable? Are there complications from it? Did I just do serious damage? Needless to say I hopped off the exam table and ran out crying. So I'm asking some of you. I don't care if I am fat for the rest of my life!! How much damage did I just do to myself? How do I fix this?? It was horrifying to see my esophagus just flapping around and no fluid flowing to my stomach! Help... Someone tell me the truth...
  2. Sorry, I don't get on here often so sorry my response took forever. Yeah, I went in for my 2nd fill today. I'm doing better, I realize that the doctors have to say certain things for liability purposes but I learn more from the people on this website and research than I ever have from my doctors. I'm glad to have the worst of it out of the way, but I truly do value the people on here much more than the advice of my doctors. Safe or not...

  3. I hate Cedars! I have had problems with them since day 1!! It took me almost 6 months just to get the surgery done...It should have taken half of that, at the most! But the care coordinators are complete morons!! And all the complaining in the world doesn't help. I'm in the process of writing a letter to Cedars and my insurance provider, detailing the experience; which has been riddled with incompetence, from the get-go. And, I am going to post it on every lapband site I can find! That's how much I can't stand the facility. The doctor, competent, but if he doesn't have the team to support the service. If you’re getting it done here, get ready to be treated like cattle, because that’s what you’ll feel like. It just seems like a greedy doctor trying to get as many patients, in and out, as possible. Good Luck! And if you can, get out and go somewhere else! You can find great lapband doctors all over Los Angeles!

    How long on post-op diet?

My PCP made sure that I picked up some gatorade so I was able to get my electrolytes up. Honestly the first few days my stomach growled but I wasn't really hungry. Now, two weeks later, I have to make sure that I drink a shake before I get hungry. I kinda sip on them all day long. This way I get my Protein in and I don't become famished. That's the only way I've been able to get along without feeling like I'm starving.

    How long on post-op diet?

Well, that's good to hear... I'm just going to just stay safe and stick to mushies for a few more weeks.

    How long on post-op diet?

I was banded on the 12th. They basically put me on mushies after 1 week. I'm still on them though. I'm afraid to accelerate and push anything else up a week because I was able to push mushies up. I'm mostly worried that, what if the band slipped and that's why it's so easy for me to eat? Would it hurt? Would I know? Am I being paranoid?

    How long on post-op diet?

I was just about to post something about this! I was on clear Proteins and I had to go to the hospital because I almost fainted from being so weak. My primary care physician (who I do have to say is against the surgery) was furious at the diet, spoke to my surgeon and on day 5 put me on full liquids and mushies. That being said, I have had no complications and I'm confused as to why. I can drink fluids with no real quantity restrictions, I've had no vomiting, I have no problems getting any consistency of pureed food down. It honestly doesn't feel like I've had surgery AT ALL. I'm losing weight, but it's mostly because I'm watching what I eat, not because I'm full... I don't get it... Is it because I haven't had a fill? I mean I don't push the limit at all but I'm confused as to why I don't feel any restrictions. Is it that, if you do everything right, you wont???
  8. I was just banded on 2/12 and I purchased the Isopure drinks in all flavors and some Protein bullets. I'm having the worst time getting them down. They taste so horrible!! I'm honestly not one to complain, and I know that there's really nothing I can do about it but grin and bear it but it's really not so easy. Any suggestions on what I can do? I'm afraid to dilute them because it will be too much liquid to get down...? Also, I'm hating my liquid Multivitamin. It's green and smells awful and is kinda chunky. Not at all what I expected. Any suggestions on what else I can do for my Vitamin supplement?
  9. Hi everyone! I've been lurking around for quite a while. I started looking into lapband surgery back in September and after much debate I've decided to go through with it. I'm scheduled to get it done next Thursday and I just wanted to see if anyone else is scheduled around the same time... Chandra
