  1. I would mention it to the surgeon, just in case. Also, my surgeon told me that although it's not the norm, sometimes it can take a couple of months to completely absorb the gas from surgery. Hope you feel better soon!

    girls night out

The girls in my group are super supportive. They all understand my choice and help me along...even offer to give me a shot in a thimble!!! Don't be so hard on yourself. If these girls are your close friends then they just want your company, regardless of alcohol!

    Metformin for PCOS

I took Metformin for diabetes and apparently it did help the PCOS because I got pregnant!! Be sure to take precaution if that isn't your plan for now. Nobody had told me that it could be used for PCOS. We had one child that was 21 years old and had decided no more after trying for so many years. I thought I was having symptoms of peri-menopause when the gyno said "you're pregnant!" We now have a 25 year old and a four year old!

    Very Excited!

Holy Smokes! That is awesome! I'm new to all of this, just banded 1/28. The time will fly even though it feels like it is dragging. Your insurance sounds amazing...mine only covered $5k out of $16k. :tongue2: But whatever, our health is worth it, right?? Best of luck to you!!!
  5. Hi Anjee! I was banded the same day and am feeling a little overwhelmed...but like you, very dedicated. I'm hoping to get support and learn a lot here. I hope the same for you!! Best of luck!!
  6. So far, so good. Very little pain, unless I overdo. Don't seem to be having any trouble with liquids except the protien shakes...YUCK!!! My only complaint is a constant gassy feeling like I need to burp but can't. At first I thought it was from the surgery but that seems to have disappeared. I'm eating very slowly and stopping before a "full" feeling. I have been walking after eating as well. I've tried the Gas-X strips without success. Any suggestions would be so appreciated! :tongue2:

    Newbie, banded 1/28

My doc considered the clear liquid phase to be the first day or two. Because of my insurance I had to stay the night in the hosp. They could not release me the next day until I showed I could handle thick liquids. I am supposed to have a 4 oz Zero Carb Isopure shake in between each meal that he is considering part of my liquid intake, not meals. For meals, from two days to three weeks, he has me on thick liquids, anything that will flow through a straw. So it sounds like each Dr can really vary on their guidelines??

    Newbie, banded 1/28

Sorry for the confusion...liquids are my "eating" right now. I have my first follow-up visit tomorrow, so I'll check with him. I really think it is trying to program myself to sip, not gulp. Since I'm concentrating on it so much, I think I somehow make myself swallow air. But keeping my chin up and know this will "pass." Thanks!

My Dr. told me anything that will flow through a straw. I have been blending cream soups and thinning with milk, or blending smoothies with protein powder, for a couple of examples. I'm only eating from the list he gave me for the first three weeks. Does this not sound right??

What soup options do I have

I was just banded this past Wed, 1/28. My Dr. told me "anything that will flow through a straw." I put split pea through the food processor and it was yummy! Today I went and bought several different flavors to try. That's what made the difference for me, flavor. Cream of chicken is SO bland!!
