I too was suffering terrible hip pain. For months I couldn't sleep, stopped walking & jogging for exercise. Finally got to see orthopedic doctor who told me I have bursitis and something else wrong with my knee and that I will never be able to run again and might not be able to walk for exercise. In the middle of all this I changed insurance. What a nightmare! Anyway, I finally was able to go for physical therapy and it has made all the difference. In addition to the exercises they have me do, I put a cold pack on my hips and knee at night. For the first time in months I have been able to sleep without interruption now 4 nights in a row and no anti-inflammatory meds! I am trying to be optimistic about walking/jogging again but so far I am just up to one mile walking. Previously I could jog 2 1/4 miles without interruption. I hope you will see a doctor and ask about physical therapy. It really has helped me immensely. Good luck!

Good for you! I quit 1/1/07 after smoking for 42 years. It has been the BEST thing I've ever done! You will be soooo glad you quit. :clap2:

I had my gallbladder removed yesterday. I had been having problems for just over a month. It really came down to having the surgery at my convenience or possibly winding up in the emergency room. It was also interferring with my ability to exercise. The surgery was similar to lapband and was performed by my lapband doctor. So far it has not been as painful as the lapband recovery. I'm glad to be done with it.

Carlene - if your daughter is assisting in the investigation/prosecution of her abusive ex - she may qualify for TX Crime Victims' Compensation Relocation. If she qualifies, she might be eligible for up to $2000 in moving expenses such as deposits, application fee, U haul rental, etc. AND up to $1800 in rental assistance. This program has been a life-saver for many women who are leaving abusive relationships. I hope your daughter will make decisions that increase her safety.

I am so sorry you are having to go through this. Your husband can NOT make you leave your residence just because you are not working and he is angry with you. The only time the police make someone leave their residence is when emotions are running high and they are afraid violence may occur if one party does not leave - or if violence has occurred and someone is arrested. You need to get to an attorney - pronto. Because you don't work, you might qualify for Legal Aid - it is certainly worth looking into. You are understandably upset but you need to take steps for your protection - physically and financially. If you think he may become violent, please contact a battered woman's shelter and discuss safety planning. Again, I'm so sorry you are having to go through this.

I quit 135 days ago after smoking for 42 years! It was much easier than I ever dreamed possible. DH and I used patches for the first week or so and then used 2mg Nicorette gum. I stopped the gum after a few weeks but carry it in my purse - just so that no matter what happens I don't have an excuse to pick up a cigarette. It feels wonderful to be smoke-free.

Many years ago I caught myself thinking how pretty someone was or what pretty hair,skin or eyes someone had. It hit me that I should let the person know I thought they were pretty or I liked their hairstyle - why keep positive thoughts like that to myself? I never dreamed I might hurt someone's feelings if I commented that they had beautiful skin or a lovely smile. I love compliments and assumed other people liked them too - especially when they are sincere. Please don't assume that anyone complimenting you automatically finishes their compliment thinking, "for a fat person" or anything of the kind. You just might have the prettiest eyes or smile that person has seen in a while!

As someone who has sucessfully used a handgun to persuade an uninvited stranger in my house to leave before I left him without a head, I would be hard-pressed to let someone take my guns. Many years later, as a 911 operator, I took calls from people who had guns - and those who did not have guns - while burglars were in their homes. The difference was pretty convincing. Those with guns knew they stood a chance - those without knew they didn't unless the police got there in time. BTW, sometimes it took 10 minutes or more for the police to arrive. I have a concealed handgun license and scored 249 out of a possible 250 on my last shooting test. I'm almost 55 years old, female, and have had access to guns my entire life and have never behaved irresponsibly with a gun. Not everyone should have a gun and/or license but I sure like the idea that a good many non-criminals have them.

I eat salads all the time with no problems. In fact, I've grown to LOVE salads since my lap band surgery.

The only way I can eat chicken is to soak it overnight in slightly salted water. It is very moist and tender when I take the time to do it.

I am the mother of an adult lesbian daughter. From about the age of 3 we realized she was different than our other daughters. We are proud of who she is. She is bright, funny, loyal, compassionate and doesn't lie,cheat or steal. She has true character. (I'm happy to say our other daughters possess these same qualities.) I can't believe there are people who think she should live her entire life without experiencing sex with someone she cares about because THEY think she should CHOSE to abstain. Her father and I have been married for 37 years and encourage our children to form committed, stable relationships. The government, actually no one, has the right to discriminate against consenting adults based upon whether they are heterosexual or homosexual. I would think rational people would promote stable, monogomous relationships. Everyone wins. I also think if people were so concerned about "the sanctity of marriage", there wouldn't be so many people cheating on their spouses and our divorce rate wouldn't be around 50%. Just MHO.

My daughter was assaulted by one of her class-mates in Junior High. The school did not call me. When I arrived home that night hours later she still had a mark on her neck. I went to the school, talked with the school resource officer (police officer) and insisted on filing assault charges. I also insisted that the school contact me if she was ever assaulted again on school property. She never had another problem. I guess the fine of about $300 got the bully's parents attention and they got their daughter's attention. Also, I taught my daughters how to defend themselves if they were ever attacked. I'm so sorry your children and you are having to put up with this bully. Hopefully the school will deal with this boy and his problems effectively.

My husband had doubts about the surgery and wanted me to ask our family doctor before I "did anything drastic." I had thoroughly researched lap-band surgery and decided I didn't need anyone's permission to do what I thought was best for my health. I remember thinking, "this is something I can live with." I mean really live with - being morbidly obese and feeling miserable with high-blood pressure, heart problems (a heart stent under my belt), joint pains, unable to sleep etc. was going to kill me, and I felt, in the not-too-distant future. No regrets here and my husband is my biggest supporter. P.S. Several of my co-workers had lap-band surgery. Another co-worker walked up and heard another woman and me discussing lap-band. He said, "What is this, the latest FAD for weight loss?" (It was clear he did not approve.) Without hesitation, we both blurted out, "Yep", looked at each other and burst out laughing. He shut up and walked away. I don't care if others don't approve - it's my life and health after all. Moody 211/180/160
