I'm going to get my wife to read your post when she gets home. Right now she says that she can eat almost as much as before the band. Myself, I am satisfied with just a very small serving or I get stuffed. I ate some dry tuna the other day and I think I almost found out what stuck means, it just stopped and I felt some pressure. I looked around and almost felt a little panic. I took a little sip of water and it went down. A great reminder for me to chew chew chew. Thanks for your encouragement!!

Seems to me that the support of family and friends is very important. Without support I would probably give up. My wife gets discouraged because I am losing at a faster rate, but thats the way it always works. Men are lucky I guess. Our doctor wouldn't band us both on the same day in case there were any complications, but one week apart isn't bad. It sure feels good to already have to put a shirt away because it is to big. It's hard for me to understand to big, I'm so used to my clothes being to small!! We plan on donating our clothes as soon as we shrink out of them so that we can't go back. I can't wait to say that I am in maintenance mode! 76 pounds to go:rolleyes2:

First patients to have Realize...let's hear from you!
Wanttolose replied to 2BtinyinTN's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
HI! I was banded with the Realize band on April 26, 2009 and am down 22 pounds as of this morning. My wife also was banded on April 19,2009 ,also with the Realize band, and is down 13 pounds and lots of inches! Are there any other husband and wife teams out there? We go in together on May 31 for our first fills. -
I'm down 3.4 pounds this week. I'm going to try and start weighing in on Fridays with you guys.

I drink a protein shake in between meals to avoid getting hungry, and then overeating. I also find that when I do get hungry I need to find an activity to see if the hunger goes away (head hunger).

April Bandsters?
Wanttolose replied to hopeful41411's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't hardly stand milk either, and I am also in the liquid phase of the post op diet. I have been using Lite Soy Milk instead. I told my doctor and he had no problems with soy. I hope that this helps. -
Jack, I don't know if you remember or not, but several months ago I posted about how I wasn't sure if I should get banded or not, or if it was really worth it. You were one of the only ones to post a reply. You gave me lots of encourgement. I just wanted to say thanks and let you know that I had my surgery one week ago. Thank You Thank You!!

I was banded on April 26th. The surgery went great, except I couldn't pee afterwards. They said this is normal for some men. Had to have a catheder. The catheder was removed yesterday:thumbup:. It's true I haven't been hungry at all. I'm down 9 pounds. I go in for my check up tomorrow. Actually I am noticing a little hunger this morning. Gonna have a protein shake and hopefully that will curb the hunger pangs I'm no feeling. Good luck to everyone!!

April Bandsters?
Wanttolose replied to hopeful41411's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did it! Yea!! The surgery was easy. I can't believe that I am now banded!! I was so worried, but the surgery was so easy. Now the hard part-healthy living. Thank you all so much for your support, couldn't have done it without you! -
Well I made it! I am now banded:thumbup: I had my surgery yesterday, April 26th and am feeling GREAT. I was scared to death because I've never had surgery before. Let me tell you it was a breeze compared to what I had worked myself into believing it would be like! I did ,later, have to go to the ER because I was having trouble urinating and got a catheter, but they said this was a normal reaction that some people experience after general anesthesia. Other than that I feel like a million dollars. I am so excited to start my new life. I am having very little pain.My wife :tt1:was banded exactly one week ago and is also doing great. So if any of you are out there worried about the surgery, don't be. I can tell you that the expeience that my wife and had was great and worth it! Good luck to you. Yes I know I'm new to this and don't have all or many of the answers, but I' soooo glad I did it, and am looking forward to all the great advice we will receive from our fellow bandsters.

April Bandsters?
Wanttolose replied to hopeful41411's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have my date of this Sunday, April 29. I'm starting to get kind of scared as I have never had any surgery before. My wife was banded last Sunday and is now doing well. She had a fair amount of pain on Sunday night and Monday. Wish me luck! Should I be so nervous?? -
Great for you! This really encourages me. I take my wife in to be banded in 2 days and then I go in 9 days.
-
Thank you for the encourgement! I'm sure that we will have lots of questions. How do we get involved with the April 2009 group? Thanks
-
Did anyone else get a date and then have second thoughts? My wife and I are scheduled for the lapband on April 26th. I think that i'm just scared because I have never had any surgery before. My wife has no doubts. I need to lose the weight, no doubt about it. I know that I will be healthier and happier. I don't need any more health problems and I want a better quallity of life. I guess that i'm looking for support. Thanks!:cool2:

My wife and I filled out their online form but were never contacted. We then tried Temple Hospital and have been very pleased with them. They are liv-lite.com.

Some thoughts as I approach surgery date
Wanttolose replied to HAL380's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I sure am glad to find out that others are thinking and feeling the way that I do. My wife and I are going to get banded in April. She has no doubts, but I wonder at times if I can do it. Reading that my concerns are normal really helps out. -
This is my first post. I don't have my surgery date yet, but I am getting a little nervous. I have been reading alot about how tough the first few weeks will be. Is it really as bad as some of the posts say? I keep seeing the word STARVING! I know I can do this, just want some encourgement. I'm lucky because my wife is also approved for the Lapband and will have her surgery at about the same time as me.

Thanks! I know I've been stuffing myself for way to long and need to learn what food and how much food my body really needs. I have a feeling that I will be amazed at how little food I need to support a healthy body.
