how many calories am is supposed to eat
svsparkle posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone I was just wondering about my calorie intake. I know I'm supposed to keep it under 1500 calories a day but I'm confused on what else I should be counting. Should I be keeping and eye on my fat grams and my carbs or is it just the calories. I've been keeping my calories around 1100-1300 a day but haven't lost any weight in two weeks, so I'm just curious if I should be counting something else. thanks -

hi everyone I got banded today. It's been a little rough, my back really hurts, i think from the gas pain. Right now my stomach is really sore, it feels like a rock is sitting on and inside my chest. It's nothing unbearable if I keep up on my meds but it's definitely painful. I've heard that the third and fourth days we start to fill better, I'm really looking forward to that. good luck everyone -

Did you cheat on pre-op liquid diet
svsparkle replied to crystalcml's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I've cheated on my pre-op diet. I'm on day five and had half of a small steak, no sauce or anything else with it. I did also yesterday eat a can of dry tuna as not to cave and eat the pizza in the house. It is so crazy I knew I was addicted to food but I cant believe how much I wanted that pizza, i couldn't even go in the same room with it. Wow what a reality check. I think I am doing pretty good. I have lost four pounds in three days and am hoping to lose another two or so before my surgery on monday. Good luck everyone -
Started my pre-op diet and Im so hungry...
svsparkle replied to ashleyb's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG, I am starving! I have been on my pre-op diet for three days and just thinking about eating Jello or gagging down one of those Protein shakes makes me want to hurl:) I really don't mind protien shakes but having it as my only source of food has really made me dislike them. I go in for surgery on the 16th, so I have for days left. I know this is all for a great cause, but I wish my doctor would have allowed me atleast a peice of chicken:) I'm stickin' with it and pulling myself through. I know it will be worth it. -

I am on my second day of the pre-op diet. I have to say its a struggle to not grab food when I get board or hungry. I'm gonna stick through until the end, but boy my stomach sure is growling:) I'll be having my surgery on the 16th. I am so excited but nervous about the pain. I have no problem admitting that I am a baby when it comes to pain. I'm hoping all goes well and that first week slips by fast and comfortably. good luck everyone -

Question about fees
svsparkle replied to mcchico530's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would talk with your insurance and see if that is permitted. I have a lady at work who had the gastric bypass and the doctors office charged her a thousand dollar fee before they would do the surgery. when her insurance found out about this they said she shouldn't have to pay anything but her co-pay through the insurance. Needless to say the doctors office refunded her her $1,ooo. My doctors office has a flate rate $500 education fee that no insurance will cover. We are told this up front and it includes the life time access to the dietician and exercise specialists, no matter if is ten years down the road. I'm wondering if you doctor is uping the education fee for his owen profit. I wouln't take my word for it but i think it's certainly worth looking in to. Good Luck:)
