Rangergirl started following Inches vs. Pounds...., Severe acid reflux, When do you stop eating before fill? and and 7 others
-
I had the same problem. Was sleeping sitting up and still was choking on stomach acid. Went to have band checked and found out that i had a huge bulge the size of a mandarin orange. Was completely unfilled and a month later (today) I went back to have it checked and thank god it had gone back to normal. Was scared to death that I would gain weight but with careful watching of what I ate and having only soup for dinner i actually lost 4 lbs which I hadn't done since Dec. WooHoo!! If you continue to have a problem get a barium check and follow their directions carefully. Tip: sleeping on your left side helps too. Good luck and hang in there as it will work out.

Oh yeah on the stuck pill issue been there done that. Had a real problem sleeping due to major gastic backwash recently had to get band checked via barium xray...they said, have you taken med lately? Of course I said yes and they showed me that one of the pills I took was "stuck" at the opening and apparently it had happened every time I took that pill. Dang. Total unfill and have to start over again. My advise is to ask your pharmacist if the pill can be crushed and if so get a pill crusher, tastes horrible but better than the alternative of getting stuck. Even after a year I took mine (thinking no problem before) and took it as usual and ended up having to get totally unfilled to relieve the gastric and inflamation problem. No matter how long you have been banded it can sneak up on you. Good luck and hope it gets better for you.

When do you stop eating before fill?
Rangergirl replied to monkeymama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine says nothing to eat or drink 4 hrs before the fill and liquids for a couple of days afterwards, mushies for a couple days more and work yourself back up. Everyone's dr is different but this really works for me. -
Band Slippage Surgery
Rangergirl replied to PattieW's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was having serious acid reflux so bad I had to sleep sitting up and still chocked each night) so I had developed another bleeding ucler so when to get band checked. Good news no slip but close had a big bulge and if I had waited any longer it would have slipped. They unfilled me completely and now I sleep great. I go back in 30 days for a fill and start the process all over again. Culprit - thought a little Sprite would be ok, NOT. Follow the rules and stay away from carbonated drinks. By the way, haven't lost hardly any weight while this problem was going on. -

Don't beat yourself up Pappyny it will happen. There was 2 months that I gained the same three lbs over and over but now seem to be heading in the right direction and you will too. -
Christmas Weightloss Challenge
Rangergirl replied to Fluffy Jen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Now down 4.4 lbs. I don't like to weigh in on Mondays (old WW phobia:)). I had gone in just a few days prior to Thanksgiving to have my band checked to make sure it didn't "slip" during a run of the stomach bug (it hadn't) and didn't have the same restiction afterwards and gained, ugh, not what I wanted. Went for another fill last Wednesday and have now started losing again. I think if I can get close to my goal I will be a very happy camper. Good luck everyone! -
RubyTuesday, I have a CPAP machine. It takes alittle bit of getting used to it but once you start you will see and feel a difference. My DH says he slept with an alien but at least he could get some sleep too. I have a case for mine and it's easy to store, don't know about plane travel with one. I haven't used mine in about a month now with my weight loss so far. I still will snore loud enough to wake myself up once in a while when my head is stoppe up. Good luck!

I got a fill and can't drink anything w/out throwing up
Rangergirl replied to diana6303's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the stomach bug and threw up like that and decided to call the dr office. They told me to drink cold stuff which would help reduce the swelling much like a sprain, (good excuse for a Sonic Grape slushee) but to make sure I didn't have slippage I went and had a barium xray done. All was good. It pays to be careful. Good luck. -
Medical and Restaurant Cards?
Rangergirl replied to Curlycat3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I sent in my registration form for my Lapband with the understanding that I would get a card to show resturants but never got an acknowlegement of my band registration. ?? Most resturants I have gone to do not recognize the card and not let not let me order off the childs menu. Maybe it was just the place I went to that didn't. Who knows. I do need to followup with my dr office to find out I guess. -

Wow everyone is doing great! I think I bet the record for the lowest weight lost - .4  But I did take my measurements for the 1st time since I started and though the scales were not kind to me I have lost a total so far of 48 3/4" all over. I vow to do better on the scale next week. If I can only get 10 off by 12/23 I will be happy. Hang in there everyone I know I am. -

Christmas Weightloss Challenge
Rangergirl replied to Fluffy Jen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I to have had trouble losing lately but I can say it is probably because I have not been exercising at all while planning my daughters wedding. The wedding was on Halloween (couple & guests in costume) and now I can concentrate on getting back to a schedule of walking, etc. I am going to make my goal by Christmas!
