Anyone Ever Fall Off the Pre-Op Diet?

Thanks all. I didn't beat myself up too much as I know it wasn't a huge slip but was worried it might have caused a problem with surgery and I want this so bad that it wasn't hard to get back on track. Had a moment of weakness but so over it.

    Pre-Op Diet - HELP

I know the feeling of starting the pre-op. I have been on mine for 3 weeks now since my 1st surgery date was delayed until 5/1. Hang in there is does get better and it will be well worth it. As vayiayia said, "just keep well hydrated".

    Waiting for Approval for LapBand

I have tried to go without mine but I wake myself up snoring or snorting trying to catch my breath. I have used mine for so long that I can roll over several times during the night and flip the hose along with me. He says it is funny watching me sometimes. At lease he can't understand what I say when I talk in my sleep. :crying: Have faith about the approval. I hate having to wait on other people to make a decision about my health and life. You will be right on my heels.

    Waiting for Approval for LapBand

Ditto on the apnea machine. When we go rving I have to take it with me, my DH teases me by saying I look like an alien at night. You will be surprised at how fast the time will fly by trust me. I don't mind at all, it is nice to have someone who is doing the same thing to live a longer better life.

    Newbie here.

Welcome! Seminar, dr appt, and it seems like the next thing you know you are doing the pre-op diet. Well it wasn't that fast but time really flies. My DH is the same way. When we started dating 35 yrs ago he weighed 117 lbs and I weighed 118 and I have out weighed him the majority of these years. He has put on 50 lbs and I am proud of each one so to speak. :tt1: Good luck and remember it is natural to be a little nervous.

    Waiting for Approval for LapBand

Welcome CreatingPspFun, I also have sleep apnea and a strong family history of heart diease. I was worried sick about getting approval but I did, it took 6 wks. I have not had my surgery yet as it was put off due to needing a nuclear stress test but it was rescheduled for 5/1. Good luck and have patience as it will all work out.
  8. ahb08 forgot to tell you that it may not seem like your cm is working for you but remember if you don't get approved They don't get any money bottom line so she will come through for you in the end. Believe, believe :)

  9. KayVee, know about having to work around things. Would you believe I planned mine around my bosses schedule and how it would affect him? He's great and I love working for him.

  11. Hey ahb08, who will be doing your surgery? Dr John Marsden will do mine when I finally get to have it done. I felt that same way, nervous, anxious, you name it especially when the insurance nurse called me about my CPAP study. I told her the dr who ordered it was dead and his office closed and the place where it was done 6 yr ago had closed and all I had was the machine itself which I use every night. I was really worried I was going to be denied at that point. They really know how to work us but I did finally get approved, it was 6 weeks after the initial submission so hang in there and all will be well.

  12. Kayvee, The waiting is so hard especially when you are waiting on other people to make a decision that is so important to your well being. You need to make sure that after approval they do all the necessary tests well in advance of your surgery date in case you run into a problem like I did. Let me know, I'm rooting for you!

  13. ahb08, all worked out well with my cm but I did have to push her a little. I called every week for any updates but made it sound like she was doing me a favor. My momma always said you catch more flies with honey. :) My insurance is 90/10 also. I bet you can work out a payment schedule for any balance but my mind hasn't gotten that far yet. Acutally I was supposed to have my band done this morning but have to have another stress test (#4) and the only time available was next Thursday. I was soooo down last night but realized it was for the best and it is a good way to make sure my heart is in good working order what with family history. Boy am I a Chatty Cathy.

  14. I am so frustrated and disappointed. :rolleyes2: I was scheduled for my banding tomorrow morning but have had to put it off for a couple of weeks due to inclusive stress tests. First, you know how you have to have the standard EKG? Mine showed a tiny abnormal result (which was probably due to me being stressed for being a few minutes late after being hung up in traffic) so I had to schedule a bicycle stress test. The girl said the target was to get my heart rate to 140 and I told her she wasn't going to get it that high as I am on 3 bp meds and I have a naturally slow heart beat, well she got me to 120 and stopped the test. Low and behold drs office called and said they wanted me to have an echocardiogram to get my hr to 140. I'm ok with that. Well, this girl was having a problem seeing a portion of my heart due to "the girls" being dense so now they want me to have the nuclear stress test done but that can't be done until next Thursday. I don't have a problem with that it just means I have a good surgeon who wants to make sure I do good during surgery. I am just disappointed. Sorry for this being long winded. Surgery is tentatively scheduled now for May 1st which means I am on the pre-op diet for two more weeks but the good news is I have lost 10 lbs.

    Stressed from the Stress Tests

Thanks again for the encouragement Spud.mama and Susie 46. They say the test will be done in one day actually 3 hours and get the results the following week. It is the waiting that's hard. I know it will happen eventually and the time will fly by just like this year has. Hard to believe it is almost May. Patience is a virture at least that I tell my husband when he gets impatient.

    Stressed from the Stress Tests

Thanks. I know logically it will work out but I still worry that something will come up and keep me from having the surgery. I will b
  18. I knew I forgot something, I am having surgery in Hurst but haven't had a chance to attend any support groups in our area.

  19. I am going through Lapband Solutions and True Results. Dr Marsden will be doing my surgery. I looked at my insurance to see who was on it and then searched and tried to find out what I could on them. What I saw about Marsden I liked. Let me know when you submit your paperwork. :)

  20. Hi neighbor! I am going through LBS/True Results also. At first I didn't think my "case" manage was actually trying to help me but I kept my patience and it paid off. Let me know when you submit, I will be here.

  21. Know what you mean about family. My husband supports me but doesn't understand why I am like I am because he is thin and still is of the mind set that you can 'quit" any time you want.

I am new to doing this to. Hey it's ok to talk to your self I do because it's the only time I can have a meaningful conversation. haha

  22. I have a surgery date!! I will be banded on 4/17 and I am so excited. I am supposed to start the pre-op diet tomorrow but the doctor said I can start Saturday because my MIL passed away and the funeral is tomorrow. I will watch what I eat and will stay as close to the diet as possible. Just another example of life and making the correct choices. Just call me a boot scootin' dancing machine or would be if I owned a pair of cowboy boots. I know, hard to imagine a Texan who doesn't own a pair of cowboy boots but I could never get them to go over my calves.:smile2:

    Meet the Bunnies

Hi everyone. My name is Jean, I am 54 yrs old and I live in Texas. I will be married in August 35 years and have two daughters 31 and 26 and two of the cutest grandsons, 3 1/2 and the other will be 2 next month. I started thinking about LB last August but my husband's insurance did not cover it. I decided to take the health insurance with the company I work for after I checked out the two and chose Empire BCBS so attended a seminar in January and will be banded on 4/17. Yippeee! I am 5'1' and have been fighting the weight battle for 25 years after being treated for Graves disease. I have high BP, sleep apnea, and everything else related to being overweight. I have to break the curse of the women in my family and live out of my 60s. I am so excited and am doing the preop diet now. If you think I talk alot now you should be around me if I have a cup of regular coffee. A total hyper bunny.

    More Dancing in Texas!!

PharmaGirl - To me it sounded like a pretty good one especially after reading what others have been on to get ready. Did you notice that all the veggies are green? Good thing I love veggies of all sorts. Even knowing that I can have more than others (sorry everyone) who have started on this journey yesterday later in the day (my first day on it) I got sick to my stomach because I was used to eating more and my stomach was not happy at all. I always said I didn't snack (famous last words) and didn't realize what I was doing until I stopped myself several times from reaching for a drink of milk or a grab a couple of nuts when my stomach starting growling. Everyone keeps asking me if I am nervous and I tell them no I am excited and cannot wait! I am very interested in the April community and thanks for the link and the invite. I will go there and check it out. Good luck on your banding on April 23rd!!! We can make this journey together.
