just found out i'm pg been tight last few weeks wrorried I haven't been getting enoug
agatoprincess replied to Preggers's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Hope all goes well for you. I am now 15 weeks pg and have 6cc in a 10 cc band. I have not yet had an unfill. I was tight in the early weeks and now everything seems ok. The Dr does not want me to get an unfill unless absolutely needed. they said I may not need an unfill at all. I dunno, guess I just have to wait and see how it goes. -
Add me to the club...
agatoprincess replied to GreenChrysalis's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Congrats! I am 8 weeks today. I have not yet had any removed from my band, but I am thinking I need to. I am having a hard time eating much of anything that isnt a slider food. My DH thinks its crazy that the band can be affected so early in a pregnancy, I am glad to see that I am not the only one that needs an unfill so early. Healthy pregnancies to all!! -
when should I have my IUD removed?
agatoprincess replied to Fluffy Jen's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I got mine out 6/16/09, first period 6/18/09 and I am now 8 weeks pregnant. My Dr said it could happen this fast, but we have had infertility issues in the past so I expected it to take awhile. Good Luck!! -
What did you tell your young child?
agatoprincess replied to SpideyMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It looks like I am in the minority here. My Kids are 6,5 and 2. I told them that I was going to see a belly dr that was going to help me be healthier and left it at that. They did not ask for any further expliantion, so I didnt offer one. When they get older I will tell them, but for now there does not seem to be a reason to. -
Go for it!!! It will feel good to get out there. You re not even gonna pay attention to what other s think.

30 weeks preggo, with GD & Q's regarding the breastfeeding
agatoprincess replied to CaliGirl626's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I had GD with all 3 of my pregnancies. I was on insulin for 2, one was diet controlled. I was not given the option for the pills, My peri said insulin is a better choice, because it is easier to adjust the dose to manage blood sugar levals. I was scared to death at first, but its no worse than stabbing yourself all the time to check your blood sugar. There are no neg effects of insulin. I was told to think of it as giving your body a "boost" with how much insulin you need. My blood sugars returned to normal right after delivery adn haven't needed any insulin since. HTH -
How much weight lost before deciding to get preggers?
agatoprincess replied to spudgirl's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I am not sure how long we need to wait. The surgeon said he wanted us to wait a year. Then he added my being on the pill is not 100% and if I was to get pregnant its not really a big deal and he would work with me. So I don't know... -
Have you had a leak in your port/tubing and had to have it replaced?
agatoprincess replied to DrewsLou's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just had my second fill today. My first fill was a little rough, I could hear a tapping sound as the needle hit the edges of the port. He did get it after a few pokes and put 2.5 cc in. Today there was only 1.5 in there. He said this happens sometimes but that they will monitor me closly at my next visit to make sure that I am still at the 4.5cc they put me at today. He said if there is not 4.5 in 5 weeks when I go back, there may be a leak. He led me to believe that a leak was rare, and its possible to "lose fill". After reading al 13 pages from all of you I am really freaking out now. It seems like leaking tubing/ports is much more common than I ever though. DH thought band surgery was a mistake and that I sould have chosen by-pass, and now to possibly have a leak less than 90 days post surgery. Uggg!!! -
How long after a c-section until you can be banded?
agatoprincess replied to hopeful41411's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Good luck to you! My Dr wouldnt do the suregery until the baby was 1. I wish he would have been willing to do it sooner. -
I was going to ask this same question. I went for fill #2 today. He put 0.5 in at surgery, and 2.0 at first fill. Shopuld be 2.5 in the band, today there was 1.5 in the band. He told me that sometime when the fill is "tough" some of the fill does not make it into the band. HE said when I go for fill #3 they will double check the volume to make sure I don't have a leak. I really hope not, I don't want to start all over again with the pre and post surgery diets.

I wasn't sure if I should put this here or in the fill section. Pre-fill on Monday I was eating 3 small meals aday and feeling content unil the next meal time, for the most part. I would also have a few bites of cheese, or something in the evening for a snack. (even though the my dr prefers no Snacks at all), If I was really hungry still. After fill #1 of 2.5 cc, I am not hungry in the am. I may have a bite or two of oatmeal or something but thats about it. I have a small/reasonable lunch and dinner, but by about 8pm, I am starving. I have been drinking lots of Water, and I am sure that I am hungry and this is not just head hunger. I wasn't hungry like this before, and my next fill is 6 weeks away. I am not sure what to do. Is it bad for me to have a snack in the evenings? Should I just keep ignoring the feeling? (this is getting hard to do). Does anyone have any suggestions for good night time snacks? I hate going to bead with a growling stomache.

I did not have a last supper. I found out my surgery date, and had to stat the liquid diet that day. I did get a small cheat day on Christmas, as it was in the middle of my liquid diet. I had roast beef, mashed potatoes veggies, etc.
-
I too had a glass of wine 2.5 weeks after my surgery, while celebrating my childs birthday. We had a friend in from out of town, and she and I would easily drink a few bottles of wine in a night. That night I had a glass, maybe 2 at the most. I drank them slowly and cautiously. They did go right to my head. This was a controlled situation, I was at home, and in a safe location. (I wasnt driving or anything) I agree that you should check with your Dr first. I told my Dr after (at my fill) he didn't say much, but what can he really say after the fact? He told me to be very cautious with alcohol, because it will affect me differently now, and watch the empty liquid calories.

Band Is Just 2 Days Away
agatoprincess replied to Randy1969's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Randy! Best of luck to you!!! I was banded 12/29/08. I AM LOVING my band so far. Had my first fill yesterday, and it was a breeze compared to what I thought it was gonna be. (Our minds are great at making a mountian out of a mole hill, aren't they)? -
day of fill clear, then 2-3 days full liquids, 2-3 days mushy/soft, the reg.

I did do a first fill post yesterday. It seemed like that made more sence, since that really wasnt part of an intorduction. It went well, He numbed me first (that stung), it took him a few tries to find the port, guess mine healed at an odd angle. 2.5 cc in, and back to the post surgery diet for a week. Back in 6 weeks for another. It was way worse in my head than it really was.I don't really feel different, I feel hungry. I hate the liquid diet part.

Hello Everyone, I was banded 12/29, by Dr. James Viglianco in Buffalo, New York. I started at 238 (12/18) and was 226 for my 1 week follow up. The Dr said this was good, and the real weight loss starts after the first fill. My goal is 160. I can't remember the last time I was 160. I am both nervous and anxious. I am looking forward to learning more about other peoples experiences.

OMG I accidentally swallowed gum
agatoprincess replied to Razz09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a gum chewer, and I swallow it frequently without thinking about it. I have been deathly afraid to chew post gum post banding for that reason. My Dr told me absolutely no gum chewing, ever, because of that. I would call the dr just to let them know, but I am sure its prolly ok. -
So I had my first fill today. 2.5cc. He had some trouble finding my port. He said it was tipped, and he had to angle the syringe twords my feet abit to get the right angle. He told me I should remeber this in case someone who isn't him need to adjust my band. He said this is not a bad thing, and does not mean there is a problem, it's just how I healed. I am officially down 20 pounds since my surgery weight and I have dropped 1 pants size. He was pleased with that. I would like it to be more, but I know I didn't get this way overnight, and I can't fix it overnight. So I guess I keep plugging along until my next fill in 6weeks.

"One"derland... first goal reached!
agatoprincess replied to Morgan from OR's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That is great!!! Way to go!!!!! I am hoping to join you in "One derland" soon. -
I was just wondering what kind of diet everyone is on after they get filled. I got my first one today (2.5cc) and was told clear liquids for today, reg liquids for 2-3 days then puree for 2-3 days then the soft for 2-3 then reg foods again. 9 days seems like a long time. How long are you on a special diet after a fill? Is my dr being overly cautious or does everyone take this long to get back to reg foods after a fill?

I was told the same thing. Good luck.
