Hi Slinky, I have had 5 fills with Dr Chris and 1 with WLS found out about WLS to late as i say ed i was fine with the 5 fills 6.5 mils in total now im back to 5.5mils after the defill i can eat a lot more its amazing what .5 to 1mil can do just have to be very care full not to over do it i have to wait at least another month before i can get a fill i am going on hols in May might wait till i come back if the will power lasts that long should have stayed at 6 mils but never mind these things happen a long the way, Fred comes to Dublin 1 a month and Wendy from WLS comes to Swords 1 a month i think the package works out cheaper with Wendy shes lovely person really takes time to talk to you  Hi Garry, thanks you have done really well cant believe its a year a go how time flys hows your restriction going is it still very tight -

Hi Kerry, Its hard getting your head around eating slowly even now i still forget until i get a reminder from the band i think your right to go back on liquids for a day or two this happened to me in the early stage's i emailed Fred he told me to go back on liquids for two days i couldn't eat mince some peeps can, its all trial and error i think you have to eat slowly and chew really well i find chicken very hard to eat unless i chew it down to nothing you kind of learn as you go along says she eating a spring roll to quick lol:wub: if your throat doesn't settle after the liquids i would email Fred or Dr Chris, my throat did settle after going back on liquids for a few days i know its very frightening all these strange feelings it will settle down, i lost a lot of weight in the beginning because of liquids and the mushes stages even after that when you are all healed up an start to get your appetite back i was very streaked with myself i keeped saying to myself i didn't put myself through all of this to mess it up all tho it is very frustrating and hard waiting on the fills with me they came a long when my will power started to fad i had to have 3 fills before i started to feel restriction so for me came along when i really needed it its amazing the difference but you still have to watch those Cal's and stay away from the goody's dame choc goes down so easy:cursing: the band works if you work a long with it if that makes any sense good luck  -

Hi Wannabe Slinky, thank you i have lost 8 stone just over a year very happy i would like to get down to 10 stone i am 10.10 at the mo size 14 to 16 im addicted to Penny's also known as primark clothes so cheap, i have no regrets only my own stupidity about getting another fill when i didn't need it i was fine the way i was but never mind its all a learning curve its just frustrating i have to wait for a another month not to mention the money before i can get a fill, i can eat a lot more now then i was able to eat and starting to get hungry so have to rely on the old will power its through what they say about getting the fills a little at a time because its not very nice getting over fill,i know i would never of got this far without the band a lesson to be told when you have good restriction enough that you can eat small portions of healthy food and be carefully with the goody's they go down so easy even with good restriction, the band is not much good if its so tight you can only eat soft food like choc ice cream & puddings you need to have good nutrition to give you energy, i was at this point that i could eat small amounts of good food until i got another fill was only able to have ice cream not good, have you booked your surgery with Dr Chris  Hi to all the oldies and newbies and to all who have booked surgery sorry to be so frank but i think its best to be truthful and this is just my experience i have had know complications up to now and the over fill was my mistake put down to experience it might stop someone out there making the same mistake  -

Hi Scooby doo, I had this feeling in my throat at the being still get it from time to time this is an indication that you have eating to much or to quickly you might feel that you can eat a bit more but be very carefull not to over do it some people say stop when you start to feel full but with me i got an uncomfortable feeling in my throat not a full feeling, if you push it to much you will gt stuck its all a learning curve im still learning a year down the line just have to listen to your band,I was with Dr Chris 2weeks ago for my yearly check up he was very pleased and asked me if i needed another fill i should have listened to my own instincts i was fine had good restriction at 6mils OMG i couldn't eat anything could barley drink water the pain in my chest i thought i was having a heart attack very scary never want that to happen again to cut a long story short i had to get an emergency defil from a nurse in Dublin she was great i felt much better as soon as she took some out so just a word to the wise you have to really listen to what your band is telling you hope this is of some help :smile: -

Hi MM, good to hear your band hasn't slipped i say your so relieved, i not sure whats going on with me at the mo i had very good restriction before Xmas felt i was at my sweet spot could eat and enjoy small amounts of dinner not to motion the goody's but now i am very tight and can only eat crackers, soup, yogurts that kind of thing only eat about 4 forks of dinner even tho i chop it up and smother it with gravy its so hard to it iim still left hungry but if i try to eat any more it gets stuck and that horrible foam comes back up, I'm starting to get a bit worried that my band has slipped i don't have acid reflux i am going over to Dr Chris on the The 4th of March for yearly xray and check up, I'm just so confused how its gone so tight with out a fill, if anyone has experienced a slipped band be great to hear what your experience was like, just on the gurgling noises mine is terrible especially when I'm hungry or just after eating i know what you mean its very embarrassing:scared2: On a positive note i have 6mils in my band i have lost 7.5 stone so far i was banded by Dr Chris on the 6th March 2009, it has changed my life just hope nothing is going to go wrong now:smile: Hi to all the newbies you wont regret it i know im having a little problem at the mo its just part of the course i have been fine up to now good luck:smile: Just one more thing i have a lump above the port scare Frederick said it was scare tissue don't know if this has anything to do with maybe Garry you could shed some light on it  -

Hi Carriejess, thanks for that,i am guilty of weighing myself ever day getting a bit obsessed with it,im starting to have the odd biscuit as well but still dont go over 1000 cals think i need to eat more veg and fruit, Wendy said to cut out all carbs find that very hard suffer with low blood pressure if i dont eat a little carb i feel a bit weak,i think your right about the starvation mode im so afraid of putting weight back on i stick to 1000 cals i try up the cals see what happens, you must feel fantastic you've reached your goal well done how long did it take you ,how are you maintaining your weight Hi to everyone hav'nt been on for a while great to see all the newbies well done and the oldies are doing well, will have to catch up good luck to everyone:wub: -

Hi guy,s haven't been on for a while not much to report only that i went to Wendy couples of weeks ago in Swords Dublin she was very nice up to this i have been to Frederick for my fills i had 4 fills with him my band holds 7 to 9 mils i was up to 6 & half mils with him didn't have much restriction thought i needed some more advice so made an appointment with Wendy, she drew fluid out and measured it to show me how much i had in my band surprisingly it was only 5mils she explained sometimes it can ivaporates a little she then put in half a mil which brought me up to 5 & half what a difference half a mil makes i have good restriction not to tight but enough to control me very tight in the morning loosens off a little as day goes by very happy with weight loss so far all tho im only having around 1000 cals weight has come to a stand still i have 2 & a half stone still to lose very frustrating when you and band are working well together with good restriction and small portions, just wondering any out there with last couple of stone experiencing this i have heard that your body comes to a plato just wish the scales would start moving again -

Hi Fatpants your very welcome i think you be fine as you say once you can drink and get soft food in you be fine i tried to eat proper food but it kept getting stuck so enjoyed myself ice cream & new York cheese cake yum, next day i came home i got back on track which i have never!!!!! been able to do usually it would take me about 3 months to start again its a learning curve i did feel a bit guilty about eating the bad stuff had to keep telling myself its OK to have the nice things now and again before with me it was nice things every day all day, still fighting off the choc demons dont think that will ever go so the safe way for me is not have any but having said that i am going to treat myself now again just dont trust myself yet, but for the mo im going to be good look forward to having a bit of choc at Xmas, i think we have to learn its ok to have something you like in moderation, i know i sound like a food junky but for me its an addiction, but before i could never have anything in moderation thats all changing for the better thanks to this little miracle band that has change my life so much for the better, fatpants have a great holiday sounds like you do have good restriction i think you be fine as long as your able to drink and eat soft food :tongue2: xx -

Hi Fatpants congrats,s on your weight loss so far, we are all different dont compare yourself 4 stone is fab,i have had 4 fills didn't get restriction till last fill 8th of July so far i have had 6 & half mils, since i came back from hols restriction seems to be disappearing a the mo but glad didn't get fill before hols went very tight after 7 hour flight, even tho i didn't have good restriction in the first few months i was very streaked with myself dont ask me where i got the will power from i just kept saying to my self i didn't put my body through all that to ruin it all giving into eating all the bad stuff that got me in this state in the first place, i had a little break out on hols that was the first time i had any goody's since op i think that's why the weight came off so quick but it hasn't been easy as i am a chocoholic its all or nothing with me i am finding it very hard since hols keep thinking about choc all the time but so far so good manage to fight off cravings i really think i need a fill at the mo,im not sure what you should do about defill before hols depends how much restriction you have at the mo if you think your to tight then maybe you should to be on the safe side, i felt i could do with a fill before hols i decided to wait till i came back long hal flight does make your band tight, its hard one i knew your afraid if he takes to much out your back to square one i think you should go by your own instincts hope this is of some help :smile2:xx -

Hi Guy's haven't been on for a while not long back from hols in New York had a fab time but band went very tight could on eat ice cream cheese cake all the bad stuff every time tried to have something solid got sick very painful well that's my excuse only joking but gained 5 lbs for my little break out back on track, word to the wise dont be to tight going on long hal flight, i thought i needed a fill before going and peeps on here advised me to wait till i came back glad i took there advise because if i had got a fill would defo would of had to get defill on hols so glad i didn't, but since Ive come back low and behold can eat most things so defo need a fill now, has anybody got Wendy's number, or when shes next in Dublin please,i have lost 5 stone 10 lbs so far delighted with that since restriction has worn off i can even eat bread so trying to rely on the old will power again till next fill, great to see all the newbies your doing really well i have to catch up with everyone, i know the band can be temperamental but i would nt have got this far without it xx -
