  1. Happy 29th Birthday melodicone!

  2. Wow! Congrats! I'm in a similar position, started at 398 and I can't imagine being anything below 180. I'm stuck at 327. And have been since APRIL. I had a fill in June but I can't tell it's done anything. Discouraged is me. But your post has helped me put things into perspective because it's taken you 2 years to get that off so I don't feel quite so bad. Congrats again, and good luck getting to onederland!
  3. The more and more I think about it I think that's what it was. That the bite was just a bit too big and maybe I didn't chew as properly as I thought. Thanks for letting me know you have that too! Here's hoping I was just freaking out!
  4. Ok background on me! I had surgery July 20th, 2009. I've lost 58 so far. Yay me. Well I found out in November that I had a flipped port. My first fill in August was difficult but got it in fine once he found it in my fat hah. When I found out my port had flipped I went back to the doctors office (was at the hosp next door for fill) and they said "Do you not remember it hurting? Nothing?" And after much thought I said I vaguely recalled leaning over out of the computer chair about a month before (oct) and it hurt for a second but it was up under my breast so I thought "well my port's down by my belly button so that wasn't it." And they said "Nope, that was it." Had my port revision on New Years eve so as of an hour and 17 minutes ago it's been a week since. Now, all has been going well and had my port fixed (it was also leaky) and just a bit ago I was feeling hungry so I got up off the couch got something to nibble and sat back down. I took a bite, chewed and swallowed and went to take another bite when I had this SHARP pain right under my left breast (where my bra sits). Only the once and only for a half a second. So I'm really freaking out now (for an hour now) thinking that I've flipped my port again! He told me that it should NOT come undone again because he sutured it on the top and bottom with that mesh they use to fix hernias. I guess the put the mesh on sutured that, then attached my port to that? And now I'm well, freaking out. It's 8 hours until the clinic opens and I'm thinking will they really be able to tell from one pain if it flipped? Will I have to wait 6 weeks until fill time? Could it have been what I was eating? He put 3cc's in last week so maybe the moment that bite passed the band it hurt? I've never had that before so could that be it? So I beg of you (if you finished this NOVEL) more experienced bander am I flipped? Paranoid? or what? HELP!

7/7 Bandster hear - Leak in band!

Hoping you're doing well! I had my port 'reattached' on new years eve only to find out once he got in that there was a leaky port! And he's moved to a new hospital and no port there! Luckily I was quite out by then so missed the mad rush to another hospital for one. Healing up well and came on to catch up and saw your similar story! I was banded on July 20 so I feel your pain. Literally. *gentle pats*
  6. I'm 48 away from 100lbs so just over halfway! Only one fill so far was due one in early Nov but my port had flipped (and is now completely loose) so I'm having that revised on New Years Eve. Here's hoping to another 48 soon!
  7. Okay, the revision doesnt sound as bad as I had imagined it to be. THANK GOD there will be no gas. Gas sucks! And it doesnt sound like you will be required to stay overnight. Hopefully they dont encounter massive scar tissue or anything of that sort. I am sure it will be fine! :o) As for the egg, not a big fan of hardboiled eggs....so scrambled or over easy is what I will try, when I am up for trying it. Hope you have a great weekend!!!

  8. I think it's one of the more common problems we could have. But how I was clueless that it happened, it doesn't always hurt where your port is. I had a quick sharp pain under my left boob probably a month ago. Literally hurt a SECOND. But since it was so high up away from my port it never crossed my mind that's what it was. Yep.

It's costing right at $1200 for the revision. And you do have to go back to the hospital and be put under. However, there's no gas (yaaaay!) and they only open the port incision, not the other 4 as well. So recovery isn't nearly as bad. And now it's HIGHLY unlikely I'll ever have another port issue.

They fix it by attaching some mesh like they use for hernias to my abdominal muscles, then attach the port to that. My Dr said out of the thousands of band's he's done there has been 2 people that had 2 port revisions and 1 person has had 3.

Oh, and if you do an egg put it in something like salad. Not boiled and by itself. Eeeek.

  9. I started off with EAS. I could tolerate it for the first week or two, but now I cringe at seeing the container. My Dad gave me some protein powder he had purchased for my Mom (she has bone cancer and wasnt eating at one point). That brand is AMP. 2g of sugar, and 60g of protein for 3 scoops. The calories are kinda high, but at this point, I just want to get the protein down.

That sucks about your port! How often do people have flipped ports? For that to be repaired, to do you have to have another operation and be put under? Or is that something that they can do in the office? Wow. That totally sucks!

Congrats on the weightloss!! YAY! I cant wait to lose more weight. I need to really get out and start exercising, but I havent felt well. Time to start though! I have lost almost 30pounds and with exercise that could have been more. Congrats to us!!

And yes, getting food stuck is painful! I havent tried egg or chicken.

  10. What kind of shakes are you drinking? I drink Chike and it's really not bad. My fill didn't go as planned. As in, there wasn't one. I have a flipped port. Already. Siiiigh. So that's another $1200 come December when I can have it done. But I've got the one fill, and still doing ok. 46 lbs down! Hoping for at least 60 by the time I have my port revision.

Glad your surgery went well and congrats on the loss! I've only had a few stuck things, and that was an egg (omg I thought I was DYING!) and a bit of chicken that was too dry. Just be careful and go slow!

  11. Hey! Sorry it took a little while to get back. Yep, had my surgery on October 27th. No complications. THANK GOD! Just started the mushy stage on Tuesday and am having problems with food getting stuck. It hurts, but I get through it. Also having a hard time with the protein powders and drinking them. They are horrible! They really should make a pill form of protein! LOL. Other than that, things are going well. Have lost 25 pounds. How are things with you?

  12. Hey! See you were banded last month! Woohoo! How are things going? I'm going in for my second fill today *checks clock* yes today. Slow right now for me since I've got NO restriction but we'll get there right? :)

  13. Thanks for checking in. :o) Hurt my back over the weekend painting my daughter's room. Wondering if my weight played a role in that...lol. Yep, was approved the Friday before Labor Day. I was supposed to have gone to a seminar on 9/11 but my husband couldnt take the time off of work to watch the kids/take them to school. I am scheduled to go on 9/25, so it looks like I may be an October bandee. Get my surgery date after that seminar. YAY! How are things with you?

  14. I just wanted to check in with you and I see that you've been approved! Congrats! I wish you much luck! :D

  15. Hey there!! Was wondering if you were able to return the scale......I hope so! :o) Hope you're having a great week so far!!
