  1. I am three months out and people are really starting to notice. The best part is I am noticing, which is the most important. It is nice hearing kudos from other people, but sometimes people around you only see the weight and it doesn't matter is it is 75lbs or 200lbs all the see is excess. In those cases it might be a long time before the comment. But as long as you are happy with the progress and you start feeling better (which you will) that is all that matters! Also keep in mind, if you have 200lbs to lose, the odds of you losing it all in a 12 month period isn't likely. Goals are good, but if they become unrealistic and you are not obtaining them fast enough you will feel disappointed. Which may cause you to chose bad foods and slow your progress even more. The weight will come off, just need some patience.
  2. I had my second fill on Monday and am now at a total of 4.5 cc's and I am feeling a lot of restriction. The list of food that I can't eat is much larger then the food I can eat! I can't eat almost any meat except fish I called the dr yesterday thinking my band might be to tight and was told if I can keep down liquids (which I can) and if I can take in some solids that it might be tight but not to tight! I was told to add an extra protein shake to my diet and he would see next month. Anyone else been this tight after a second fill?

    2nd fill massive restriction.....?

I am all about taking the weight off, at this point I am more worried about not taking in enough calories and my body halting all weight loss. I am willing to try to give it a few more days and supplement my dietary needs with an extra protien shake but if I continue to be in pain after two or three bites I'll have to get unfilled to make sure I don't splurge on the wrong foods, like milkshakes and such!

    2nd fill massive restriction.....?

I burp all the time, so I know how that goes especially for the first 45 minutes after I eat. My favorite foods to eat riht now, that don't cause massive discomfort, oatmeal, yogurt, 60 cal pudding, sugar free jello, protien shakes, cottage cheese, and refried beans.

HELP! Samples meals need, I'll Start

Great idea OP, thanks for starting it! Breakfast I am a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast for the most part its 1 or 3 meals! 1. 1 pckt sugar free oatmeal (Walmarts Brand) and half a scoop of banana flavored Protein mix 2. 1 scrambled egg with 2% cheddar cheese mixed together with about 3 strawberries on the side 3. 100 calorie wheat/high Fiber english muffin toasted, I then cut up a boiled egg with about a tsp low-fat mayo and have an egg sandwich. I can only eat about 2/3's of it but its a great change to the oatmeal! lunch I eat a lot of the South Beach pre-package meals since its easy to take to work with me I also like to do cottage cheese with strawberries and a few slices of organic turkey breast deli meat with no fillers (Nature's Promise brand is the best) dinner Once a week I make a batch of meat-free chili that is so good. 1 can of black Beans 1 can of pinto beans 1 can of red kidney beans 2 cans of fat-free chicken broth 1 packet of spicy chili seasoning 1 can of fat-free refried beans 1 can of fire-roast stewed tomatos drain and rinse all of the whole beans, mix all the ingreds together, except the refried beans, let it simmer for about 30 minutes then add the refried beans to thicken the chili. Or if you don't like thick chili you can leave out the refried beans all together. Also if you must have meat try adding 93% fat free all white turkey breast meat to it. Another favorite meal is taking chicken breast and grilling them (I use my George Foreman) then dice them up...in a large skillet add about a TBS of olive oil and throw in some summer squash, onions, mushrooms and zucchini after the veggies are tender throw in the chicken and add about 1/4 cup of fat free terryika sauce...serve over couscous. My entire family loves this meal. Other then that my meals look like everyone elses! Good luck! Can't wait to get some other goods ideas!

    First Fill Today!!

I had my first fill today, 3 cc's! I was so nervous about the needle, but it was nothing...a little prick and stinging from the numbing agent and then I didn't even feel when my Dr. did the fill. All said and done it took about 3 minutes. Plus I am finally under 400 lbs!!! Woohoo, not by much but I'll take it! Over all its been a great band day! :rose:

    First Fill Today!!

I am feeling restriction...the odd thing is I am having more trouble with liquids today then food passing thru the band. Maybe I am drinking to fast, but it seems to not want to stay down. But the foods I am eating aren't bothering me at all.

  12. :tt2: I am starting to get totally confused. I had surgery 1/14/09 and was given a packet of information regarding post-op diet. I also had to attended two seminars and one long meeting with a dietitian concerning post-op diet. All of the info I recieved has me already on soft food, but I keep reading people being on a full liquid diet for almost a month. I have followed my doctors plan to the "T", but now am wondering if the info he gave me was the best. I saw him on Monday and he told me that by the weekend I would be able to eat almost anything I wanted but don't. To eat healthy and small portions and to chew my food really really well. He said that I wouldn't have any restrictions, because he didn't place any fluid in my band due to swelling. I have my first fill on 2/16. I have the realize band, which I think is 10cc, does any of that make a difference on why I was not put on liquids for a month?? I just want to make the best decisions even if they are counterdicting to me doctor. Any advice would be appreciated!!

Total confused the more I read!!!

Thanks for all the advice! After reading some of your comments, I noticed some were on a similar pre-op post-op diet as I was. Its just re-assuring to know my doctor isn't the only one with this particular diet regimen. Thanks!
  14. Congrats on the weight lose....30 lbs is amazing!!! One thing I did notice reading your posts, is that fact you say you gained pounds. I know you are not gaining 1,2 or 3 lbs on a 800-1200 cal diet. Your body is just adjusting its fluid intake, probably holding on for various reasons. If you take in 1200 calories and the next day you are up 3 lbs it has nothing to do with the 1200 cals.....it takes 3500 to gain a true pound. Just try to remember that, instead being upset the scale went up. I use to weigh myself everyday....now I am only allowed on the scale on Sunday. I'm so bad about over weighing myself, I don't trust having my scale in my house. You might laugh, I know I do.....but my husband takes the scale and puts it in the shed in a locked storage box that I don't have a key after I weigh in on Sunday. He use to hide it throughout the house but I would spend hours looking for it...lol Sad I know!

    goals along the way

Congrats!! Sometimes its not the scales numbers that make us the happiest, but us starting to participate in our lives again!

DH wants me to cancel surgery 2/3/09 HELP

It sounds like your husband, while researching complications, might of stumbled on the stats of divorce rate after weight loss surgery. Maybe he is feeling insecure, and just neds some re-assurance from you. These issues were possibilites when you first decided to have the surgery, why is he bring them up now when you can almost taste the sucess of banding? I personal know over 15 people that have had either bypass or the band, and the sad thing is over half of them are not with the same person they were with when they started the journey. But the ones that are, all preach communication is key...especially if you are someone who has always put everyone elses needs and wants before your own . Because getting banded puts you first. Maybe your husband is worried how the dynamics of your relationship will work after being banded. Or maybe I am way off base and he is just worried about the complications, but his timing sucks! Either way you two need to be a united front, I hope he jumps on board and helps you down this life altering path. Plus remind him no diet in the past has worked, this way you would already be 3 months skinnier and healthier!

    275 To Lose

Good Luck!! When I started I was needing/wanting to lose 290lbs. When I first thought of it, it was almost unbelievable. That was more then both my husband and son combined. But now that I am down 50 lbs from pre-op dieting, I know I can do this and so can you! It might take awhile but the payoff with be fantastic!! I might adjust my goal weight as I get lower, seeing that I am 6 ft tall and wanting to weight 175...........but would be happy weighing less then hubby

    Banded This Morning!

Congrats on the life change!!! I got banded last week and am now on pureed food...the only hungry days I had was day 5 and 6. But I guess it all depends on what your doctor and dietitian recommend for you on your post-op diet. I am amazed reading the various differences given. But good luck!
