  1. See my posting about my experience 4 days ago in Mexicali with Dr. Aceves. I am completely thrilled with the experience. The cost was $7000 and that included everything but my plane fare to San Diego (from FL). I was given all my xrays and lab results to give to my doctor back in the states. My husband went with me because I thought I might need him (I'm used to US hospitals). It turns out, I had more attention and hand holding in Mexicali than I've ever had here. I, too, have had previous extensive surgeries...for cancer and reconstruction. I think you would be very pleased if you chose Dr. Aceves. He does work out of a full-service hospital and you stay in the hospital for two nights following the surgery to be sure everything is okay.
  2. I was just banded in Mexicali by Dr. Aceves. I would recommend him to anyone who asked. The experience was great! My cost was $7000 for the lap band. That included transportation to and from San Diego airport, pre-op tests and post-op tests (x-rays, EKG, blood work, etc.), a wonderful first night in a great hotel with my husband, followed by 2 nights in the hospital in a private room with a long couch for my husband to sleep on. They checked on me every night and gave me medications for pain and sleep. It included my liquid food during the second and third days. Everyone was absolutely great! I felt so pampered.
  3. I thought I'd go ahead and join the forum, even though I've been very secretive about my surgery. Right now, only my husband knows about it. I will say that I'm very glad I finally committed to the surgery and new life style. I'm still recovering at home, but I really feel pretty good today. I had my surgery in Mexico, by Dr. Aceves. The whole experience was so great that I'm wondering why we don't have a similar system of care in the states. In reading some of the postings, my decision to go to Mexico for the surgery has been reaffirmed tenfold. It's only been 4 days since the surgery. I just weighed myself on my WII Fit system and already lost 6 pounds. I even went through some of the Yoga exercies. Not too bad. The post-surgery pain is already pretty much gone. If anyone has any hesitation about going to Mexicali for surgery with Dr. Aceves...I say, "Go for it"! You won't regret it.
