Had my one and only PB with chicken breast. Shame on me for not chewing good enough. Other than that, I seem to do better with the dark meat.

Hello fellow April bandsters -- It seems I have become a member of the slow losers club. Only 2 pounds since July 11. I go back in for fill #3 in a week. Hopefully, I will get where I need to be in regards to restriction. Only time will tell. And I am letting people take my picture without standing behind something. So....best wishes to everyone. Keep on losing.

Mine is sticking out too. There is a lower profile port available. Mine said I needed to get to goal before he would let me change.

Medic Alert Bracelets - Are they recommended?
Irish Girl replied to Diva Girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mine has a beaded band but has the medic alert tag with the emblem. Mine says: AGB-No NG tube w/o endoscope Dr's name and phone # I had to take a ride to the hospital for kidney stones about a month after my surgery. I did have my bracelet and the medic did ask what it was for. So I am a firm believer that they do work. -
APPROVED! I Can't Believe It!!

Hooray for Kathleen......Congrats on your approval. I know how exciting it is. -
Wow....pretty cool. Congrats and keep up the great work.

I am Evil Maggie....Hmmmm, an Irish pirate sounds kinda silly.

Almost there I think....
Irish Girl replied to rlvalleau's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My approval letter was similar to yours. It said I was approved but the total amount they would end up paying would be determined after the surgery. They ending up taking care of everything except for the deductible and out of pocket. And sometimes, weight loss surgery aftercare isn't covered at the same percentages as regular medical visits. Congratulations on your approval. -
I may be sorry for asking this..........
Irish Girl replied to Bettina's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am only 3 months out. I had some trouble at the start....my stomach was so swollen that nothing would go through, not even water, which led to exhaustion and dehydration. The dehydration led to a trip to the ER with kidney stones (all within a month). But now, I feel really good. I was definately the exception with my complications. I have gotten to know my band and how my body reacts to it. I am 42 pounds down and am amazed and excited everytime the scale drops. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone that is considering it. And let them know that it is work, but the rewards are fantastic. -
I can finally wear mine again. It has been in the jewelry box for such a long time.
-
I finally found one that I can drink. It tastes like watered down cocoa. If I make it really thin (about 8 oz water), it goes down pretty fast. And no protein aftertaste. It is "Designer Whey", chocolate, of course. I found it at super supplements.

Our support group in Tacoma, WA does a clothing exchange two times a year. I am excited that I have a couple of boxes to contribute. Keep up the great work everyone.

Today is jeans day at work. I had a man that I work with tell me that if I keep getting smaller I am going to blow away. He also commented that "If he wasn't married............." and left it at that. I am tickled. And, don't worry about harrassment, we are a really close knit group here. The coolest part is....this is the first time I have worn these jeans. I purposely bought them over 4th of July weekend in a smaller size and OHMYGOSH!!! They fit me today. YIPPEE!!!

Scheduled to be banded July 12, 2006, Maybe.....
Irish Girl replied to babyjessica's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jessica, Don't cancel your appointment. The procedure is the easy part. I couldn't keep my weight down either and it kept creeping up. I, too, felt I was a loser and knew that this was something that I had to do for me. I didn't find this site until after my surgery. Everyone here is sooooooooo supportive because they know exactly how you are feeling. I was up and around a few hours after surgery. You are a good person. You will be in our thoughts on your surgery day. Keep your chin up and we will see you soon in "bandland" Smiles. -
Best and worst reactions to telling people you were banded?
Irish Girl replied to Paulax's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I haven't had any bad reactions. I am open with what I did and if people have a hard time accepting it, that is up to them. I didn't do this for them, I did it for myself. But I have told one person (my overly-opinionated grandmother) that I didn't ask her for her opinion and she hasn't said one thing about the band since then. I do know someone who is very private and he just told everyone he did the South Beach Diet. So you can tell people anything you want to tell them (or not tell them). Just stay true to yourself and what makes you feel the best. Smiles. -
HOORAY!!!! Keep up the great work.

Hi everyone. I am 36 and have a wonderful son. He has been my strength through this as I had some complications at the beginning. Things are going well now. I was banded on April 28, 2006 by Dr. Earl Fox in Tacoma, Washington. I have lost 35 pounds so far. I have hit a plateau (bummer). I have had one fill and I am scheduled for the second one on July 11th. Let's all keep up the great work. Keep smiling.

Problems swallowing calcium capsules?!
Irish Girl replied to Stephanie MG's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I got a liquid calcium at Costco. It doesn't taste to bad straight out of the bottle, but it does taste good when mixed with Crystal Light. I got the ok from the doc. May want to check that out. -

April 2006 Bandsters - Running weight loss totals
Irish Girl replied to Bostongurl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Bostongurl... Would you please add me? I was banded April 28 and down 35 pounds. Thanks. -
My fill was the 8th of June. I had plateaued about a week and a half before that. I only felt restriction on the first day and still do sometimes in the mornings. I still have not lost any weight since my plateau. And to top it all off, I have "cankles" now. My feet are soooooo swollen, I don't fit any of my shoes. The doc says no diuretics because he wants me to have Water in me and not to take a pill to get rid of the water. I am reading everyone's fantastic stories about their loss. I feel I am climbing a mountain and just can't get over the top. I am feeling a tiny bit hopeless today. :faint: Thanks to everyone for all of your support. This is a fabulous community to be a part of.
