Hi KLS....I have lost 49 pounds in 4 months with my band. I wasn't comfortable with any part of my insides being cut up so the band was my obvious choice. I am 5'4" and started at 224 pounds with a BMI of 39 plus co-morbidities. Ultimately, it is your choice. And we know you will do what is best for you.

Any foods you can never eat again???
Irish Girl replied to ratgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No pizza here. I can eat some of the toppings....but I just don't care for it anymore. Too greasy. -
I have one on my lower back right above my rear. It is fared really well with my weight loss so far. But when I got it, I was careful to have it positioned in a place that wouldnt change too drastically with weight gain or loss.

Thanks. This site has been a lifesaver for me. I am a little over 3 months out and have had tons of questions answered by anyone and everyone. My sweetie has even said that when I found this site, my turnaround began. I had some bad complications at the beginning and was seriously regretting getting the band. You have all supported me (and continue to support me). Thanks for all of your encouragement and support. Smiles and hugs. You are all SUPERSTARS!! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Hi Kiana. I am in Tacoma. I had complications at the beginning which led to depression. I am sure the last thing you want to hear is that it will get better. But it is true. It does get better. Everyone on this site has such great information to share and they are so supportive. If you ever want to chat, send me a PM. We have a support group that meets at the start of every month. It is always nice to have another bandster there. Try and keep your head up and know that this too shall pass. Smiles.

How many fills do you have to have?
Irish Girl replied to bitteroldhag's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just checked out your pics. You look fantastic. I can't wait till I am at goal. Good luck with your surgery. I know you will do absolutely fine....especially since the Elmo slippers are going with you. -
Hi Telly....nice to have you back. One set up your pics inspired me to get serious with my crunches.....I never thought I was going to be able to do 200 crunches in a day.

I had my belly button pierced right up until surgery. I needed to take it out for the procedure. I had some complications after surgery and couldn't get it back in......so........I am going to repierce after I lose some more weight. I loved it before and now, with a smaller body, I will like it even more.

How many fills do you have to have?
Irish Girl replied to bitteroldhag's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am at 3.25cc in a 4cc band. I am in need of another fill cause there isn't a ton of restriction. I can feel it in the morning, but the tightness is gone by evening. My doc told me from the beginning that he thought I would have to go up to the full 4ccs. -
Pisces here.

Designer Whey....chocolate. Tastes like watered down hot chocolate.

I know I need to drink my Protein. My doc wants me to have between 50-60 grams every day (liquid form-anything in food is a bonus). I guess I am not super clear as to why I need to have so much. I understood that it was important for healing after surgery. Now I am four months out and still doing what I am supposed to do. But if I am able to get alot of protein from food, why do I still need so much? Inquiring minds want to know.:huggie: Thanks for your help.

Thanks a bunch Sarah and Jacqui. I definately eat less than before and I am not gaining. I also like the freedom to eat out with friends and not worry about PBing (only happened once at home). I am slowly learning to make my better food choices. No sugar, soda or milk since banding and I don't seem to miss them anymore. Thank goodness for ice cream with Splenda. My next doc appointment is the 15th and I always go in armed with a list of questions. My fill is definately at the top of the question list. Thanks again for your responses and any future responses. I am so glad I found LBT. Everyone here is fantastic. Hugs to you all.

How in the heck can I be at 3.25cc in my 4cc band and only feel restriction in the morning. I am frustrated. I have another fill appointment on August 15. From the beginning, the doc thought we would have to go all the way to 4cc for me....something about not a bunch of fat pads in my stomach. Any advice from people who have bands almost filled to capacity? :help:

Flour tortillas get stuck...only had to try it once. The corn tortillas I can chew until they are mush.

Wish me luck, going for 1st fill in a few hours
Irish Girl replied to beachgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doc says not to eat anything 8 hours prior to fill (drinking is ok) and nothing at all 4 hours before my fill. Not sure why, I think I will ask next time. I have had 2 fills and they are not a big deal. I will admit....with my first fill, I was shaking like a leaf and then when it was done, I felt like such a ninny. I think it is fear of the unknown. Just take a deep breath........ and you will do fine. Let us know how you do. Smiles. -
My doc asked about an hours worth of questions and then I got to do two paper tests. It was pretty interesting to read the results. I agree with Wheetsin, just be honest.

Irish Girl replied to PattiU's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey Patti, I cried the morning of my surgery. But when I woke up, I was surprised that it was done. You are going to do fantastic. Welcome to bandland!! -

Irish Girl replied to Hedwig's topic in The Gals' Room
Hedwig, I am glad to hear from you. You have been in my thoughts. I hope they find out what is going on and you can get to feeling better. Hugs. -
Woooooohoooooo!!!! Congrats.

I also agree. I have withdrawals if I don't get my LBT fix every day.

Iulizbug....I am like you. I have a 4cc band with 3.25 in it. The doc said at the beginning he thought I would need the entire 4cc for perfect restriction. My next appointment is August 11 and hopefully I will get to where I need to be.
