I know we are all probably a bit scared of something around this surgery - whether it be the pre op, the surgery itself, or the future that lies ahead. My biggest fear is dying on the operating table. Nothing else, I think that I will be able to handle that stuff, but petrified of dying on the table!

******************** FRIDAY WEIGH INS 26 JUNE 09 ******************** Hey all Weighed in today with a gain 125.8kg. Up 900g. Feeling VERY angry with myself but trying to be really insightful and real with myself - as you can't change what you don't acknowledge. I guess I have been expecting the band to do more than it has. I guess I poopooed the "the band is a tool" comments on here thinking it was a magic cure. But I think I have clicked. The band just makes me "normal" in terms of metabolism etc. If I want to lose weight - I will still have to do this bit myself! eg. diet & exercise. Which is okay and I shouldn't be surprised, but I guess I am scared - because I have been in the "you need to diet & exercise" role for my whole life - and that obviously didn't work - so it scares me that I can't do this. Anyway, rant over!! LAST WEEK'S WINNER WAS KANER!!!!!! WITH 6LB!@!!! You go girl!! Look forward to hearing your weigh ins today! Friday Doc.doc

********************** FRIDAY WEIGH IN 19TH JUNE 2009 ********************** Good MORNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I FINALLY LOST SOME WEIGHT!!! I weighed in this morning at 124.9kg. Yay 124 - haven't seen that number in a hell of a long time!!! That's 274.8lb and I started at over 300 - I guess we should keep this weight loss thing in perspective when we are all so gutted if we have a week where we haven't lost or we have put on - this is a LONG TERM GOAL and we have done SO WELL in such a short time (hello, April was 2 months ago people!!! and look how much weight we have lost!!!) I can't wait to hear about everyone's weigh ins this week. Be it a gain or a loss, its all part of the journey - a journey we are ALL going to succeed in!! So no pity parties - just back on the wagon!! xxxx:thumbup:

Welcome!!! I have added you the sheet! Yay! Angie's back!!! Angie, don't sweat it, we are all feeling a bit weird at the moment I think - and I know myself I have not wanted to log on as I have been feeling like perhaps I wasn't the only one having success. However a few glances around and its clear that that is not the case! These first few months are the trickiest. Hang in there and I am glad that you are back. Please don't lose sight of the fact that you have lost 15lb so far on this journey. I cannot say it enough - KEEP GOING BACK FOR FILLS PEOPLE!! xx Aluv - yep of course there's a spreadsheet!! Here it is - up to date for the week 12th June. Biggest loser this week was YOOOUUUU!!!! followed by Maddison - Great work guys!! (ignore Liz - she is just my neighbour who wants to join in! haha) Please check there are no errors!!! Friday Doc.doc

Hi Jersey What's your preband weight so I can add you to the spreadsheet? Just so you know if you post your weekly weight rather than your weekly loss its much easier for me to update the sheet! otherwise I have to use my brain and a calculator. hahaha:scared2: (also if you give me height & goal weight I can add you to the BMI part!) Don't sweat it BG. You have done so well so far, these are only bumps in the road!! Um HELLO!!! You know you have lost 35lb so far!!!! Thats awesome!! Stop beating yourself up. You will get there!!! Hey Kate, you may have posted this before but what was your pre-band weight? Also if you tell me your height and your goal weight in lb I can set up the BMI part of the sheet for you (nerdy I know!!) I have heard many stories about this and was really scared of it happening to me - may still do!!! Some people reckon its the stress of surgery, some reckon it's not enough Protein. I'd try making sure you take your multivite and eat your protein first so you can fit as much in as possible. Other than that - get a cool hat for the next three months!!!! :tongue_smilie: xxxxx Hey Shelly, whats your actual weight this week - as I have 249 as last week's weight.

Please update me on the number of fills and amounts
lingling replied to comtemplating's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Banded 2nd April, 6cc so far - 4x fills. Depends on size of band also I think - mine is 10 or 11cc Pretty sure a cc is the same as a ml. My doc doesn't charge for first six months of fills and consults. -
************** FRIDAY WEIGH INS 12 JUNE 09 ************** Hey All, It's friday again!! I weighed in today at 126.4kg. Down 300g. Yawn. Neeeeeed to be sensible about what I eat and stop drinking WINE!! Here is last week's spreadsheet! Biggest loss for the week was a whopping 6lb for WannaB! That's phenomenal!!! Doodle and Jaytee - you guys are nearly 1/2 way to your goals! Keep at it everyone! We can do this!!! xx Friday Doc.doc

Yes I guess I am very lucky. The surgeon is just up the road and he has an open door policy - free fills for 6mths. Just have to make appointment. I am feeling OKAY and am at fill number four I think? but I keep drinking with meals and also drinking wine and then not caring about what I eat. WOE. DEFINITELY A NSV!!! Agree WannaB - I can see a trend here everyone is screeching to a halt - the liquid and the band have given us all a good boost to start with but now its time to work! booo! Hey SDeale, I notice that you weigh in but have only ever given one weight which was 2 weeks ago - if you want to post your current weight when you weigh in on a friday (and tell me your start weight) I can pop you on the biggest loser spreadsheet. No worries if you don't want to - and by all means post whatever you want - just letting you know what you need to do if you do. xx

Hey Guys LAST WEEKS RESULTS ARE IN The biggest loser for the week of 29th May is..... MADDISON with a whopping 3.6lb!!!! Congrats Kaner for hitting the 60lb mark, you are giving Jaytee a run for his money in the Biggest Lost to Date department!!!! ALSO..... WEIGH IN FOR FRIDAY THE 5TH OF JUNE It's friday here, so as well as posting last weeks results, I am weighing in. Woe. Put on 1kg this week. Up to 126.7kg from 125.7kg. Struggling with this - had another fill on Wednesday and that helped but need to realise that the band is only a tool - god you'd think I would have heard it enough on here to make it register!!!!!! Can't wait to hear all about your successes this week !!! xxx:smile2: Friday Doc.doc

Sweet heart you just need to get to your "sweet spot" where you are not even thinking bout food - that will happen for you just keep going back for your fills. I have had 4 now and am finally feeling "alright" However I have been making bad choices - subconsciously thinking to myself, sweet, banded now, dont have to worry. However what happens is the band resets the chemistry which is keeping us fat, and helps us with portions - but the rest is us. Hang in there, we're all in the same boat. Oh, and don't drink with meals - thats what I have been doing and it is baaaaaad!
-
Melliecat I was banded 2nd of April and I have not regretted it for a split second. I was PETRIFIED of the surgery itself, rather than long term complications - hell, if its that bad you can have it removed - but it won't be - I am sure. I haven't had ANY problems at all - except for losing 25lb in 2 months!!!! It is normal to be scared and apprehensive - but the surgery was a breeze for me, and so has everything else so far - so keep optimistic and get excited, - you're about to get a shot at a normal life!! xxx
-
Sounds like you just need a tiny unfill. Can take a few days for your body to go "oww, too tight" not sure why - but it does. Give your doc a call and pop in for a tiny unfil.
-
My doc says that if you start to feel a tickle in the back of your throat when they are filling you that they ease off a bit from there and its perfect. odd huh. Great work on ONDERELAND!! xxx

I had furry teeth like you wouldnt believe until I started on real solids. I think its from lack of saliva from chewing.
-
Hi everyone Good work on your losses this week - and hang in there for everyone who did not have a loss (like me!) once we have been filled up to the sweet spot (hopefully I am now after my fill on Saturday) we will find this journey so much easier! - Biggest Loser so far is still Jay-Tee with 59lb overall and he is 42% of the way to achieving his goal! Nearly half way!!! - Biggest Loser of the week is Wanna B with 5.4lb down this week!! Congrats and good luck to everyone for this week! xx Friday Doc.doc

Has anyone had to take a nicotine test in order to get surgery?
lingling replied to talkalot1981's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be honest with your doctor. Please do not lie. They have to adjust the anesthetic if you have been smoking so please tell the truth. -
Hey I chose the band over the bypass because 1. There are less serious complications with the band 2. Band is removable if needed 3. Chance of death much lower with band. Mortality rates with RNY are approx 1 percent. I guess higher the more you weigh also. Good luck with your choice.

I find the feeling exactly the same as I used to, but it just happens on smaller amounts. I think that people talk about being OVER FULL and feeling pain is when they have eaten too quick that they have got so much in that they are stuffed. Easier for that to happen as you would only have to eat 1.5 cups of food for that to happen once banded rather than 15 cups like I used to. Keep asking questions its the best way to find out if you want to do this. Good luck

Had my third fill yesterday and finally have restriction, I am so happy. Yay ya yyayay

Confessions of diet infractions here...
lingling replied to shellynnrn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Yep, third fill tomorrow. Doc has open door policy - because it takes a few fills usually to get to the sweet spot you can just keep going back as often as you want - within reason (eg. you can't go three times in one week but you can go each week) until you have a good restriction. Thank god, I cannot wait. I am chowing down like I used to... boooo.
