I was banded on January 29th 2009 and have lost 50lbs. I have been happy and want to stay where I am at. However it seems as though the band is not working the same. I have been able to eat more including pasta and I have noticed that I am able to drink much quicker after eating. I have a 10cc band with a 5cc fill. What everyones experinces and thoughts?

I was banded in January 09 and have been doing really well. I am down just over 50lbs. I have not been taking my calcium everyday as the Dr has told me to. This is when I started to notice some major neck and just general bone pain, almost as though I had arthritis. I sstarted taking my clacium everyday again and it has improved but is still there. I just wanted to know if anybody else has gone through these symptoms.

How long do you stay out of work?
eyeinthesky posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 1-29, and feel pretty good so far. I am wondering how long people stay out of work for. I work in a dual role where I can do light duty or lifiting. I am thinking two weeks. -
can my band tighten up after being on a plane?
eyeinthesky replied to clifton81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am by no means an expert. But have some medical flight experience. The bands are filled with saline which gas laws really dont effect in a pressurized cabin. This method is often used to keep different devices inflated during flight in sted of using air on the ground. Air expands and contrants due to different gas laws. So my thoughts are the band itself is probally not effected. -
Anybody from the 29th have a fill yet? I had a fill yesterday 3-4 2.5 ccs and fell pretty good. I was just wondering where everyone else is at?

I wanted to see where everyone is with their diets. I as have posted was told to move onto the mush stage only a week out of surgery. I have been doing well on this stage including scrambled eggs, string cheese and the protein shakes. I am thinking about calling the Dr this Friday to get the soft food approval if all keeps going well. I have been looking at other forums and it seems that some do move on this track. My Dr's take home notes I am clearly too soon for these phases, but when you ask him he approves the new foods. I guess its a case by case..

I am doing great on this new stage, I HATE LIQUIDS! I have had small portions of scrambled eggs a few times already and mashed potatos. I finally feel normal again. With the liquid diet I just had no energy. Today is the 3rd day I have been on stage two and I finally feel like I am able to go back to work. For dinner I am making some Ricotta cheese with gravy over it( Kind of a lasagna with out the noodles) My nutrionist suggested the cheese I asked about the gravy and she thought that was a great idea.

Port sticking out like a hernia!
eyeinthesky replied to Marmite_crumpet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to the Dr's yesterday what seems to be the same concern, I was done on the 29th. Near my port I noticed swelling almost like a tennis ball was under my skin. I called the Dr's and they brought me in. They looked at it and felt that it was normal. They said some post surgery get a fuild build up that was just go away they said it could even be hard to touch. They also said that the port site will be long sore well after everything else has cured. Good news about going in early they let me start eating eggs and some pureed foods. I was sick of liquids! -
I thought I would put an update on here that all wh where done on the 29th may find useful. I noticed today near my port incision that there was an awkward "balloon" type swelling. I called the Dr who asked that I come in. Theyactually felt that I looked good and the swelling was just a collection of dluid that should go away. Since I was there they made this my post op follow up appointment. Tomorrow is 7 days and they have allowed me to move onto eggs today. It felt sooo good to get some texture into my system. I know everyone is curious to the liquid stage and thought I would share this...Good luck!

I was also banded on the 29th. each day I feel better. I have only taken pain meds to sleep. My stomach is still tender. I have been struggling with the 60 grams of protien they want me to get, and I was starving yeaterday. I feel ok so far today. I have a follow up on 2-6. I am crossing my fingers that he will let me move onto the mush food.

I had the bland placed on the 29th. I feel pretty good and have been following the liquid diet. They suggested Slim Fast low carb which is pretty good and well tolirated. Has anybody watered down cream of chicken soup? If so how did you do?

What soup options do I have
eyeinthesky replied to eyeinthesky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for all of your advice. I just don't understand how Slim Fast low carb is allowed and cream soups are not. The slim fast is pretty thick. Is anybody else doing the slim fast only a few days out? -
I am scheduled for lap ban on 1-29. My surgeon never mentioned a 2 week liquid diet. They set up my nutritionist meeting for the 23rd. Does evenyone have to do the two week liquid diet or do some surgeons require less?
