I had my consult with the Doctor and three weeks later was going in for surgery. They could have done it a week after my appointment but I needed to get my work all lined up so I could be off for a week. Self-pay was and is scary but it was definitly worth it. I had my 10 year high school reunion in July and I was not worried about what people thought becuase I was feeling so good with the weight loss I already had. I don't think I would have gone if I was still at my highest weight. I just thought of self-paying as getting a car in my body. I will not be getting one until I pay this off but I bet I look really hot in that new car when I get it!!

How are the february 09 bandsters doing?
starmlm16 replied to JENNIFER7375's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on Feb 6th, 2009. I have lost a total of 41 pounds so far. I have had two fills and am up too 4.5cc. I thought I was at my sweet spot for a while but after losing the last five pounds I need a new one. I am going in on June 5 for my 3rd one. I have been on a plateu for about three weeks now so I am looking forward to the jumpstart after this next fill. Keep up the good work everyone!!! -
New to this/lots of questions!

I am in Houston also and I went to True Results here and had Dr. Hollis as my surgeon. He was really great. I am 4 weeks out from surgery and having my first fill tomorrow. Pain wasn't to bad with this surgery. I had my appendix removed 5 months ago and that was more painful than this. I had my surgery done on Friday and took the next week off work and that was enough time to get back up to speed. My insurance didn't cover weight loss surgery so I had to self-pay. They have a couple financing options if that is something you can look into. I paid $12,900 for the surgery and two years or 10 fills after that. I look at it like I would rather be paying this off and looking good than contining to be unhealthy and not happy about it. Becuase I was self-pay I didn't have to jump through so many hoops to get the surgery. I didn't have to have a psych or nutritionist evaluation. All I needed was lab work and a EKG to make sure I was healthy enough for surgery. Hope this answers some of your questions!! -

how much dose it lapband cost
starmlm16 replied to daisy120's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was self-pay and used CareCredit for financing. I paid $12,900. This included the surgery and two years or 10 fills. I think every surgeon and surgery center are different. I know that if didn't go here in Houston and went to Dallas I would have paid $3,000 or something more. My advise is just to check around for the best price but do not sacrifice the quality of the surgeon for it!! -

I know what you mean. I am trying to get everything done before Friday also. I have to go to the store tonight and get more protein drinks and other things. I also know I have to make a stop at the library before Friday becuase I can't go to long with out some reading material. But the one thing that is stressing me out the worst is trying to get my desk at work cleaned enough that they won't miss me too much when I am off next week. I am really looking forward to having some much needed time off even if it is just sitting around recovering from surgery!!
