UPDATE for all who want to know

Thanks Michele. I might use your post on my blog...if that's okay. It made me cry and I am feeling so discouraged lately...I am glad that it is working for you now!
  2. Negative ghost rider. 6 days after my surgery I got a horrible cough. I went to my lapband doctor for my first checkup a few days after my cough developed and I asked him if I coughed hard enough...could it hurt my band. He said not at all. The cough comes from you lungs. :rose:
  3. hahahaha! That is the hardest I have laughed since joining the site! Priceless.
  4. Well, here's the good news....you shouldn't be craving them for awhile. Apparently, twisties are the Devils candy for you...so lesson learned! Sorry son, no more twisties in the house! If you are worried about the weight, go for a long fast walk (helps with guilt). If you are worried about the band, you could call your doc. But I think you will okay. I would also guess that after you have your first fill, those twisties will get stuck in a very unpleasant way...so dont push the maybes baby (that's a little saying my boyfriend has Enlightened me with).

    Is This Bandster Hell?

Are those high in Protein? If I eat two of them will they keep me full until my first fill? I think I will google it!
  6. It was about 6 days post-op until I felt any hunger at all. I was banded on Jan.27th, and was supposed to be on clear liquids for 2 weeks. I made it about 6 days. I moved myself to full liquids (or at least cream soups) after that. When I met with my doc on the 7th day, he said that was fine. I am supposed to be on full liquids until tomorrow and then I can go to mushies and progress to soft. I am on mushies and soft stuff now. You will find that doctors orders vary drastically. You just have to know whats right for you and of course talk it over with your doc or clinical staff. Because I dont have a restriction yet, my meals dont really give me a full feeling. I just have to stop and ask myself if I am hungry. If the answer is no, I stop. Today for bfast I had half a container of lite strawberry yogurt with some grapenuts sprinkled on it. I had SF strawberry applesauce for a snack, and had taco bell refried Beans for lunch. Tonight I am going to have my first grilled chicken breast since before the preop diet. I am so excited!

    CONFESSION TIME..spill it

Oh my God, I know you posted this a long time ago but I do the same thing! I always have. My favorite "meal" to make on my show is PB & J. That was preband though!

    cream soups

Yes, cream Soups were on my full liquid list as well.
  9. Hi Roirat. Here are some questions: What did you try to eat? How quickly did you eat it? What were you eating before (soup, yogurt, etc)?

    Port Locations?

It depends on your starting weight. It takes me about 45 pounds before I lose a pants size and people start to notice a little change. But I started at 327.
  11. My first post op appt. isnt until Thursday. I just weigh at home. I am down 24 pounds, including pre-op and post-op. After surgery I had gained 10 pounds of Water weight from the IV, but thats gone now pluse 11 more! It might be a good thing you cant weigh yourself. It becomes a tad addictive.
  12. I am a Corporate Trainer and I went back to work today. 6 days post-op.
  13. I am doing pretty good. I finally updated my blog. I am back at work today, off the pain meds (because they ran out boo hoo), and feeling no pain really. I am super tired though. I think its a combo of hardly any nutrients going in and the fact my cats kept me up all night. I may go straight to bed when I get home. When are you supposed to go back to work?

  14. Is anyone starting to get a wee bit cranky bc of this damn liquid diet?:tongue2: I don't have any restriction yet...nothing in my band. I know that I could probably eat anything and it would go down just fine. I can drink my Water and Protein shakes at a good clip...and accidently ate a tator tot yesterday. OKAY...it wasnt an accident, but how else was I supposed to test if it was done? (I was cooking dinner for my boyfriend). So, now that Im on to the scam that I can eat anything just fine, I wish they would let me move to full liquids! I just want some cream of chicken Soup or tomato soup! But I will wait. Bc I know that they want me to get a good weight loss going on and take things slow. BUT...I find myself hardly eating anything bc I am sick of Jello, broth, and Protein Shakes. So carry on my brave 27thers! :cheated:

    Do you miss fast food?

This thread is helping me. I am 6 days post-op and my fast food cravings are killing me! I love hamburgers. Sweet goodness. I want one so bad. meat MEAT MEAT Today I went to the movies with my sister (meaning I left the house in my car for the first time since the surgery), and I had to pass all the yummy places. I am getting a little cranky bc I have no restriction, but have to be on this clear liquid diet for another week! Then I move to full liquids for another week. I wish I could be on full liquids now. All I am asking for is for some creme of chicken Soup or tomato soup. But its reassuring to know that I will eventually be able to eat some fast food again. And that hopefully, I will crave it less. Thanks for all the posts!
  16. lol..I know. But sadly...it's true!
  17. Let's see...I was banded on Jan. 27th...so I am 5 days out. I am not hungry at all...but from reading other threads...it might be coming! I miss food though. It might sound weird, but my boyfriend thinks he is in seventh heaven bc I have been cooking for him like crazy! I wake up and cook him Breakfast. I breakfast I would love. I cook him dinner, with all the fixins. It doesnt make me hungry though. It's almost like some preverse sense of being connected with the food. I cant eat it but I can create it! haha...whatever...it helps. I am supposed to be on my clear liquid diet but all I can seem to manage is 2 Protein shakes a day and some Water. So, I am getting my liquids, but I dont feel like i am eating enough. I know its important to get my calories and nutrition. I guess that will come in the following stages though. Going to Walmart is like torture though. SO many possibilities. Strange limbo we are in during this early post-op phase. I went for a mile walk today. If you know me, the only thing that is worse to me than salad is walking...but it wasn't that bad! One more day at home and then I go back to work. Boo.
  18. I know. Im thankful that I dont have either right now.
  19. What are you eating? Protein shakes should curb your physical hunger...although they aren't very fun. I also find sugar free popsicles make me feel like I am eating something since I can chew them. I like chicken broth and it really got me through pre-op diet, but now since i can only drink 1-2 oz...what's the point. Hang in there. this is the way I look at it...Our docs prescribe this two weeks of hell to give our weight loss a good jump start. AND to make us more appreciative when we actually put something yummy in our mouths (like mushies, etc). You can do it. My doc says 3-5 Protein Shakes a day. I do about 2.
  20. First, I would ask my doc for liquid Loritab and a pill for naseau (can't spell). The pill is tiny, but you can break it in half if you have to. I take that pill and a pepcid pill prescribed by doc and I dont have any trouble with getting them stuck. You need some good pain meds though. If you feel a burp or yawn coming on, hold a pillow to your belly. THis works for coughing as well. You have to walk. Take two disposable gas-x strips every 6 hours. Diarreahha--my doc told me to expect that. I don't know if what I have going down in the poop shoot is diarreahha, but I have learned never to trust a fart. I assume you are on a liquid diet, which would make sense why you have liquid coming out This too shall pass!!!! Hang on.

    To Those Banded on 1/27/09

The nutritionist said to stay away from things like Boost Ensure, etc bc of exactly what you are saying. Not enough protein and too many calories. For my liquid protein I have found that Atkins are the best tasting. I drink the strawberry and it takes like a real shake! I am going to see if Walmart has chocolate tonight. I aslo tried EAS chocolate...but not the best. Slim Fast has a low carb Protein shake as well, and the vanilla cream is really good too! Yeah, I was told no on the aleve also. Just Tylenol. Hope everything else is going well! I am looking foward to full liquid in about 10 days. Come here cream of chicken soup!

    To Those Banded on 1/27/09

Today I am feeling the best so far. I have to get up and pee about every hour in the middle of the night, and it was really easy last night to get up and down. Did your doc not give you pain meds? I can't take my Multivitamins until I get the okay from my doc. How much protein does your Boost have? I was told not to drink those... I was on a clear liquid diet for 6 days prior to surgery, and have to be on a clear liquid diet for 2 weeks after. Then, I go to a full liquid diet for a week. Then pureed foods for a week, then mushies, then real food. There are 5 phases. I am not really hungry either. Yesterday I drank 3 bottles of Water and two Protein shakes. I am taking full advantage of being off work, and sleeping alot. I will be going back on Monday. Thanks for checking on all the Jan. 27th rockstars. I try to update everyday on my blog. It's easier to share pics there. Yeah for us!
