    Any advice?

I agree with the girls on this one. 5 weeks later you should not just be on liquids...even according to some of the stricter doc diets I have read on here. What did your doc or nutritionist prescribe for your post op diet?
  2. Your pics are pretty awesome too. I actually was looking at them the other day and I thought that your hubby and my bf have similiar hair cuts :)

Can you FILL me, I need some help?

Thanks! I worry about my band slipping with the pbing and throwing up as well. I dont think I am too tight though. I am hoping that I just ate to much too quickly. I had chili last night and it went down just fine, as did my yogurt this morning. I can still drink Water at a pretty good pace as well. Good luck with your unfill. Keep us posted.

Can you FILL me, I need some help?

I have heard chicken can be hard for some. I would be so bummed if that was true for me bc I love me some chicken. I think even though i was cutting it up into to small pieces, I ate too many small bites in a hurry. I had chili last night, and boyfriend had let it cook for a really long time...so the Beans were nice and mushie and there ground beef was pretty small. Anyways, I ate about a cup and everything was cool. I stopped when I didnt feel hungry anymore. I am going to keep working on that. Thanks for your help!

Can you FILL me, I need some help?

hey kelly! Welcome fellow bandster (soon to be). There is dictionary on this site somewhere that has the definitions of all these abbreviations But, yes its just like described above. For example, when I ate that bite of sliced peaches I could feel it setting there for about 5 minutes. I couldnt burp, but I felt like I needed to. I always picture this as the food is sitting there blocking the hole. Anyways, It was like the longer I sat there, the worse it got bc my spit/slobber couldnt pass and it was backing up. So, when I PB'd in mister toliet, what came up was slimy foam OOOH gross. So that's that. My blog is the link below. There are lots of blogs out there that are interesting to read and help you get an idea of things to come! Amy

Ever been told "No fill for you!"

You can't say you are only losing 1-2 pounds a week on here silly! BC everyone will tell you that is what we are supposed to be losing! It does feel slow though, especially after the pre and post op diet speed loss. Patience is hard for me too...and I like immediate gratification. I have read several people on here that says their docs wont fill them ahead of schedule. I was filled on march 7th and wasnt supposed to go back in until may 7th for my second fill. I have called twice and been back twice bc I didnt feel my fill was working. My doc said it sounded like I wasnt at restriction yet (after asking me all sorts of questions) and gave my my third fill. Its amazing the difference. My first fill was 4css, my second was 1.5 ccs, and this last one was 1 cc.

Can you FILL me, I need some help?

damn! So I have to stop BEFORE...thats a hard one to learn I would think for those of us who have always had a lifetime of not stopping or pushing away from the table. I guess this is just one of the lessons the band helps you learn. Thanks for your help.

Can you FILL me, I need some help?

Its so funny you responded bc I was just looking at your new pics about your surgery this morning. Looking good! I dont know if I could handle the pain...but I am getting off track. Well, I was about 20 minutes into the chicken. I was using a knife and fork and cutting it into about penny sized pieces. I didnt feel like I was going to fast...but I dont know:confused: Maybe I didnt chew a piece good enough. I dont know how to tell when I should stop. I mean...that sounds like I am food challenged...but I mean do i stop when i feel "full" or when the sandwich is gone, or when there is a pain...or after 4-6 oz regardless of if i am still hungry?
  10. Makulafamy

how should I handle this situation?

Can I ask you why you dont want people to know? What is wrong with just saying straight up--Yep, I had lapband. I am taking control of my life.:cool2: I dont wear a sign signing I had lapband, but if someone asks me how I am losing weight, I tell them. Usually they dont know how it differs from bypass, so I inform them. I understand that it is private, but your weight loss will be visually public and there is no shame to our game! I hate confrontation too, but I would like to speak my piece towards this coworker so I would have my manager mediate. Regardless of whether you manager handles it or you do, this girl is going to get her little feathers ruffled and she will continue talking s* about your weight loss and your choice. So...take the power away from her! If you put it our there and inform people, she will have nothing to run her mouth about. There will be no secret for her to spill. You have made a choice for the better. Who gives a crap about the haters! Be proud of yourself.
  11. I like the way your write! Very nicely done! SUCKY that you have been on mushies for 5 weeks. i dont have any idea how you did that! Willpower for sure! My doc uses what we can eat to guage how much of a fill we need as well...so I understand. Maybe if you try solids for a week or so and have no probs you can call and get in before next month? I have called twice since my first fill to get another and my doc lets me come in whenever. I didnt gain when I went to solids, but I stopped losing for about a week or so. So then I added working out and it started back up again.
  12. Thanks for the pic comment! Speaking of...I like your new pic with you looking out at the water.

Is it possible to eat too little

Yikes! I just read a post that scared me (not yours). You can for sure be eating to little...I agree with CrzyTeacher! If you are consuming less than 900 calories a day, your body thinks it is starving itself. When this happens, you body tries to hold on to everything you put into it. Also, at below 900 calories a day you will start to lose your hair, lose muscle mass, etc. If you cant eat eat in the morning, you could always drink a dreaded Protein shake. I do yogurt as well. Its a tad boring, but its okay. A lot of people on the forum talk about if they eat too little their weight loss stalls. Keep your chin up!

Before a fill, do you fast?

We are supposed to be on liquids for 48 hours prior and 48 hours post fill. He really would like it to be Clear Liquids...BUT, I do full liquids and ran that by him and that was okay. I usually eat a little yogurt the morning of a fill and drink Water...but my fills usually arent until 4pm. I think an empty stomach would be the best. That's just me though!
  15. HOLA! I just wanted to get some advice or hear some thougths on the following subject. I was banded on 1/27. I had my first fill on 3/5. 4ccs in a 10-12cc band. I didnt feel any difference. I called the office after about a week and they got me in for another fill. (I wasnt scheduled for another fill until MAY 7th!) So, my doc always asks a series of questions about what I can eat, and the big one is always can you eat a sandwich with no problem. My answer was yes. So, he gave me another 1.5cc's and told me my bread eating days might be over. That was last thursday, 3/19. I can feel a difference. If I take a really big bite of something, I might have to wait a minute before my next bite. But, I can still eat a complete meal. For example, a whole pork chop, peas, and half a slice of cornbread. Or a whole piece of chicken breast, corn, tomatoes, etc. Yesterday I made a lunch meat sandwich and it went down without a problem. SO, i called the office again (I am sure they love me), and I am going in for my third fill on Monday. I will ask my doc and share everything with him, but my question is....do I need one? Or is this what restriction is supposed to feel like? I am under the assumption that with proper restriction I should feel satisfied with 4-6 oz of food, that should keep my full for 3-4 hours. I could probably eat double that and still get physically hungry well before 4 hours. I can drink gulps of Water. I can eat bread with Peanut Butter on it...etc. Thoughts? And if you were wondering what the title of the post has to do with anything...its pretty raining down here in the south right now :crying:

Rain w/ a chance of another fill

Hey! Thats better than the way my boyfriend says that same quote...but instead of "hind end" its crotch. Yours is much better :crying: Morning is hard for me too. Sometimes I eat some grapes to tide me over. Also, bc I usually eat just yogurt for breakfast...and that doesnt fill me up for very long.
  17. Makulafamy

Rain w/ a chance of another fill

Yes. Bread doesnt give me a problem. I usually choose not to eat it though...I try to concentrate on Protein first, etc. My nutritionist said if it's not protein, ask yourself "Am I really going to get anything out of this (energy, etc)". If the answer is not, dont eat it.:crying: I have to remind myself of this when I want something like chips!

Rain w/ a chance of another fill

LOL, I love my doctor. I dont understand why you would think I need another one...bc he lets us eat bread? He is had done over 500 lap band surgeries, and I am lucky enough to work at a hospital that is a bariatric center of excellence. Bread is allowed. It is stressed that for most patients, they dont tolerate bread very well bc no matter how good you chew it, it can feel stuck and just balls up. I cant think of one single thing that is off limits to us except carbonation. I have been on this site for about 5 months now and find it very helpful. I also drink tons of water. I read where sometimes it takes awhile to feel your fill. Thats why I waited two weeks the first time. I will admit though...I like immediate gratification. SO patience in some matters is not always my strong suit!

Rain w/ a chance of another fill

Weeelll, I dont think I could eat as much as I used too, but I really havent tried. Which is why my weight loss has been pretty good...its really been like I am on a diet. AND, I have been working out. I have to really work at stopping eating...not bc my body tells me that I am full, but bc I know better. And of course, I dont eat the junk I used to, or consume the 7 sunkists a day, etc. But I am definetly not full or physicall satisfied with 4-6 oz. I think if Indiana Jones were to make a movie in regards to weight loss, the title would be "The Quest for the Holy Sweet Spot". :crying:

    Still Hungry...

I would totally call you doctor. I was banded on 1/27, had my first fill on March 5th. 4cc's in a 10-12cc band. Didnt feel any difference and he had scheduled my next fill for 5/7!!! So, I called the office and they got me in last thursday. I told him what I could eat, etc. And he gave me 1.5cc's more. He thought this would change things pretty dramatically. I do feel some light restriction now. However, I can still eat probably close to 16 oz of food. For example, a pork chop, some veggies, half a slice of corn bread, etc. SO, I called the office again yesterday and I am going in on Monday for my 3rd fill. It doesnt hurt to call and explain your situation and see if you can go in for another fill. All docs are different...as are all patients! Good luck!
