HI KC,
I had a little complication. I didn't even consider having a Hiatal hernia. I never had any symptoms.
But when he got in their, I had a hiatal hernia so large that he had to use netting, and my stomach was in my chest.
Without going into a lot of detail, I had to stay a second night in the hospital. I am taking NO pain medication now.
That is good, but I have to take Monday off work.
I was hoping that there was some way I could have a taste of root beer, even if I stir all the fizz out and drink it flat, ... but will wait. I don't want to jeapordize this.

Focusing on eating better is definitely key - however, you really can have just about anything in smaller amounts (that has changed for me slightly now that I am tighter - and some people have trouble with certain foods even when they're not tight - you learn as you go.
Soda was truly one of the hardest things for me - Diet coke and Diet A&W root beer! However, sometimes towards the end of a time period when I need a fill I can still enjoy smaller amounts taken in sips.
Restaurant eating takes some getting used to - I actually enjoy it now - not caring if I spend a little more money on high quality food knowing that it will be about 3 meals for me (talk about getting your money's worth) the weirdest part is some of the stares you get from servers when it looks like you've barely touched your food - I think they feel I didn't like it - so I'm sure to tell them I loved it I'm just not that hungry.
Good Luck!
