  1. My first fill was done with the Lidocaine and it hurt like a bee sting, the second I told them no Lidocaine and I did not feel a thing. I had a port for my chemo and never had it numbed so I will always go without from now on. Bernadette PS I agree with the others, why get stuck twice??

Yes I'm at a stand still too, I have stayed at the same weight or over a week. I have to say that I have not been good on my food choices either. We also have been getting tons of rain so my walking schedule has been cut way back too. I need a swift kick in the butt to get me working harder again. I can get another fill tomarrow if I want but I'm debating..not sure if I need it or not. I got food stuck again!!! yesterday and I don't like that at all. I plan on getting a good walk in tonight rain or shine! Can someone give me a cyber boot to the butt!!!! Bernadette

a_thinner_me Congrats on the weight loss you are doing great!! The band is a wonderful tool!! Nothing more nothing less!! I have to keep reminding myself that very thing. Conetha, Im soo sorry that you did not get your fill...did you see if you could get in ASAP! I would tell them that I need to be seen tomarrow, and that this is important to you to keep up on your journey to get a fill as soon as they can get you in. I hope you get your first fill soon!! I have had 2 now and I really have restriction, no more eating big bites. Good luck to the both of you! Bernadette

Okay I had my first episode of getting food stuck, I think. I ate 2 bites of rice and all of the sudden it felt like I needed to throw up or burp. I tried to burp and foamy food came up, does that make any sence?? I was sick for about a half an hour and I just kept having more foamy, slimy stuff come up. Im sorry if this is too graphic. This was very uncomfortable.I hope I don't have this happen too often. I might get another fill on Thursday but Im not sure yet. I want to make sure I really need it before I do it. Have a great week!! Bernadette:glare:

Time to Get Back On Track

Hi everyone I'm still having a tough time getting back on track, last week was the worst. I have not done much better this week. I just got back from going to a Winery with my son and his girlfriend. We tasted wine had meat, cheese and crackers and then the best pizza I have ever had. It was a thin crispy crust with very little toppings on it WONDERFUL!! Needless to say I have not done well today! But I had the best mothers day in a long time. I need to get back in the saddle this week and really hit it hard. I still have 50 lbs to go until goal. Have a great week! Bernadette

Silly Goose I'm sorry that your surgeon only does fills once a month, But like you said as long as you are still loosing you are doing fine. You have done quite well with your weight loss, I wish I had lost that much. My sister is doing a little better, she found out that they had more life insurance that she had originally thought. That will make it so much easier for her. She will have to sell their house as soon as possible and then move. We are trying to talk her into moving back home where most of the family is. It has been so tragic, our dad is almost 91 and is still very healthy and lives on his own, and then we loose a brother who is only 54, sometimes life just does not make sence. Happy Mothers day to all of the Mommies!!! I'm of to the winery with my son for wine tasting and brunch!! Bernadette

Hi Silly Goose Why do you have to wait until the 20th for your fill? Im so glad that I have an aggressive fill center. I want to get to where I can't eat alot and the fill is the only way of doing it. Thanks so much for mentioning my Brother in law who passed, this has been a very tough time for us. My sister has never worked outside of the home and she is VERY overweight. She has alot of health problems relating to her weight and she now has to deal with the fact that she has to handle everything in the home. I wish there was more I could do for her, I have 5 sisters and I love all of them soo much, it hurts to see any of them have problems. Happy Mothers day to all of our mothers!!! Bernadette

JLRAY I know what you mean by chubby hands, I don't have that problem but I have seen them lots. My problem is my old lady arms!!! I hate that hanging fat on the back of my arms, I have vowed to get rid of that. I have lost 25 lbs and it shows but not as much as I would like it to. My clothes are hanging on me but I'm not quite into the next size down yet. They fit but a little tighter than I wear my clothes. Lifestartsnow, I know what you mean about food getting stuck, I have had 2 fills and if I don't chew it good enough it gets stuck. I have to be careful now, and I can only eat a small amount without feeling sick. Maybe now I will start really loosing weight. Have a great day, Bernadette

Hi again I had my second fill yesterday and I definatly can tell the difference. I tried to eat a little bit of chicken last night and it came right back up. I finally know what PB means LOL. I was not supposed to eat anything so it was my fault to start with. My fill center says liquids the day of the fill and mushies the next day, I should have followed the directions better. I can have a fill once a week if I want and I think I will stick to that until I get good restriction. I did not get the shot to numb the skin ahead of time and it did not hurt at all. Im so happy that I had this done, Im down 25 lbs and I love it! Bernadette

Time to Get Back On Track

I was banded on March 16th and last week I had my first fill and yesterday I had my second fill. I did not feel any restriction after the first one but do feel it now. I was told that I could have a fill once a week if I did not feel restriction, so I will probably get another one in a week or two if I don't get enough restriction. I was told that they want you to get to that sweet spot as soon as possible. The reason we all had this was to get this weight off and getting aggressive with the fills is exactly what I wanted. I don't want a year to go by and Im still trying to loose my weight!! I had 70 pounds to loose and I have lost 25 so far and Im very happy with my weight loss. Aurelia I think you are doing fine, try to get in a little more excersize if you can that always helps me to drop more weight. Good luck to you! Bernadette

I just had my second fill yesterday and I definatly feel restriction!! Im happy that it will keep me from over eating again. This last week was really bad for me, we had a death in the family and I tend to eat when Im stressed. I got on the scale this morning and it has actually went down again. My total loss is now 25lbs!! Im very happy with that. Happy mothers day to you too!

Hi everyone I had my first fill yesterday, I feel absolutly the same so far. I'm on liquids thru today. I was told that this fill would not really make a difference, I have another fill in two weeks that one will make a difference. I can't wait to feel a little more restriction. I did ask about the water issue and was told that it does not matter how much you drink because it goes right thru and will not damage your band. It was really no big deal having the fill done, they gave me a shot of lidocain before and that stung a little my next fill I will skip any numbing meds and just get the fill. I never had it numbed when I had chemo and it never hurt. NEWBEGINNINGS I'm glad your fill went well too. Do you have another scheduled for the next few weeks? Take care everyone! Bernadette

    March 16

Hi New Beginnings Wow you have done great on your weight loss, I wish that I was at 30 lbs. I have my first fill tomarrow and I can't wait to have it done. I still am not sure about the water thing, I have no problems drinking fast and I only do so when I have no food in my tummy. I hope it is alright. I love my water and had a tough time the first couple of weeks when I was unable to get enough in. So you have been thru the big C too? I have battled it twice and have had 9 surgeries, 6 months o chemo and 2 months of radiation. It has been a life changing event, I have slowed down some and learned how to relax a little. I tend to be a very busy person (type A) so it is good that Im relaxing more. Take care, Bernadette

    Can someone help?

I had a TT breast reduction and lift all in one and I won't tell you that it does not hurt, but I will tell you that it is worth all of it. I know you will probably read this and say what?? she had all of this before losing her weight. I had cancer so I had a mastectomy and then the reconstruction which included using tummy fat for a new boobie!! I stayed 3 days in the hospital and spent every extra minute I could walking the halls. The day that I got home from the hospital I took my dogs for a walk with minimal pain.Go for it $11,000 is a good price for all of that and you will feel like a new woman when you are healed and can fully appreciate the surgery. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them! Bernadette

I really enjoy reading about other peoples journey. It gives me an insight into everyones everday challenges. About the water, I still did not get a complete answer about guzzling it. I can drink it very fast but wanted to make sure that it won't hurt my band. I have always been a huge water drinker but if I have to sip I don't seem to get all of my water in. It does not bother me to drink alot of water at one time, no upset tummy either. I do get an upset tummy if I eat too much. I will finally get my first fill next week, can't wait to see what restriction feels like. Bernadette

  21. I wanted to know how everyone gets their water in?? I have always been a big water drinker but now Im lucky to get 40oz in a day. Can you guzzle water if you have not eaten anything? I have no problem drinking fast but I keep remembering them telling me sip, sip, sip. I still feel full before I even eat something but I know that I need to eat. I have still not had a fill yet and Im 5 weeks out, don't know if I need one or not time will tell. Thanks in advance for any answers to all of my questions. Bernadette

    Newly banded..........

Welcome Sandy You have just made the best choice for your life. It is fun to watch your body change and get thinner, Im just 5 weeks out and have dropped a pant size already. I also was self pay and went to Mexico, I had soo many people freaking out before I went. I had Dr Almanza and I had a wonderful experience too. They were very supportive and caring. Keep posting we love to hear about different journeys. Bernadette

Gregnir I could not sleep last night so I ran across your blog, that is great! I love the way you outlined the process and then the actual surgery and recovery. I should have done that too it makes it easier to remember everything if you write it down. I have been thru cancer and I kept a journal and it is soo wierd to look back and remember all of the feelings that you had. Keep up the good work! Bernadette

Welcome Julia! I can't belive that you had your first fill after 3 weeks, thats incredible. Did you feel restriction after it? How are you doing on your weight loss? There are alot of March 16thers so you will probably get alot of other people welcoming you too. How has your journey been so far? You will have to write back and get us updated on your weight loss story too. Bernadette:thumbup:
