  1. PS

Are you scheduled with hi? or are you going there soon?

  2. Hi

If you are thinking of using Dr. Almanza, go for it!! I have used him twice and would have no problems using him a 3rd time. Do yourself a favor and save some money! The place is not the ritz, it is very nice and clean. Dr A is an awesome Dr. he does a great job and that is what all of this is about!

If you need your hand held, don't use them! They are a no frills place but I love them. I would rather save some money and go to a place I trust. Ask away with questions I have no secrets!!

    Bernadette

  3. Barbara Good for you, getting the drain out will help you a lot. It just seems like you are slower with it! You said you are going home tomorrow, do you have to fly? If so I wish you a speedy pain free flight!! Bernadette
  4. what was your point about the passport?? Not quite sure!

    Tijuana,Mexico? Passport?

I did not say that I do it all the time, I was an emergency surgery, had to have it done ASAP! I had to cross my fingers and hope they did not detain me. It did help that I was in a vehicle plainly marked Jeruselum Medical!!

    NSV shout outs

Tiffykins Thank you so much!! I still can't believe it myself! I was just heading to my bedroom to go through my closet one more time and get rid of some more clothes. When I lost 40 lbs with the band I got rid of 11 bags of clothes!! I will count today and see how many I get rid of! That is so cool that you can wear an anklet again! I always end up breaking them. I have had to take my wedding rings off because they are too large. They flop all over and drive me nuts, but I don't want to have them sized until I'm done losing my weight. Thanks again for the reply!

    NSV shout outs

Hi LadyLee Size 12 is something I did not think I would ever wear again, and now I'm on the verge of going into a size 10!! Way cool moment! BTW goals are good, buy the next size smaller!! I still don't see myself as being thin, just a little smaller, I wonder how long it takes for your mind to lose the fat image we all have of ourselves?? I have been at this for 10 months total now counting my lap band experience. I still see the old heavy me in the mirror. Hopefully some day I will walk in there, take a look and say "there you are" Good luck to you!!
  8. Hi Barbara The second day is something I don't talk a lot about, with good reason!! It seems to be the worst, but just think every day from here on out gets better and better!! So glad to hear you have been walking the halls! It really is the best medicine. It is the only thing I could do to keep the gas pains under control! So you got to drink the dreaded blue juice?? You called it apple juice? Man mine tasted something awful! I don't think I could ever compare it to apple juice. Just keep sipping and walking as much as possible, and nap when you feel like it! Good luck and happy losing!
  9. I would call your coordinator and get the addresses that way you can Mapquest them and give you a better idea! We look forward to hearing all about your trip! QUOTE=momof6;29124]I am so happy that I found this forum/blog. I am new to this stuff but I wanted to share that I am scheduled for surgery on Feb. 16. I can't wait. I have learned a lot from reading everyones post's and the suggestions have been very helpful! I have had the best experiance so far with all of the staff at Jerusalem clinic. I was wondering if anyone can help me, I was wondering where in Tijuana is the clinic and the recovery house? My husband is coming with me who speaks fluent spanish but he wants to drive so I wanted to check out where the house and the clinic are for his benefit. I look forward to reading and learning more from everyone. :001_smile:

    Huge NSV Success

Dear Phoenix That is just an awesome NSV!!!! I applaud you and the effort! I love the quote you put on your wristband, totally cool!!
  11. Yes I have one regret....that I had the band first!!!!!! That is my one and only regret, the band was a nightmare. I have NO troubles at all with the sleeve. I never get hungry, I don't burp all the time, I have never vomited, I don't slime none of the things that you listed. I just eat and go!! I can gulp liquids too, something I could not do with the band. I love this tool so much, I hope you will as well!!

    NSV shout outs

I love this thread with all my heart, sometimes I have nothing to add but love to read all of the good things that happen. Well my NSV shout out is: I was able to not only get my skinny Levi's on but they are actually loose on me!! I had not tried them on for a couple months. They fit before but were TIGHT!! I don't like wearing my clothes tight, so I put them back in the closet. These are a size 12!!! I still can't believe I can wear a 12. My hubby and I have been together for 7 years and I weigh 7 lbs less than when we got together!!! Of course he thinks I'm too thin, but I want a cushion so I want to lose some more. My next goal is my size 10 Levi's! I think it will be awhile they are TIGHT! Have a great day everyone!!
  13. Congrats!!! Being healthy is such a great feeling!! Good job!
  14. I don't know if you will feel like doing that, what will that make it 4 days after surgery?? I flew home on the 4th day and that was about all I could take. I think you could probably make about an hour but then you would be pooped!! They have a lot of shopping there too, and that does not cost to get into! I would hate to see you pay to get in there and not enjoy it. Good luck to you, and happy losing!!
  15. Barbara Great to hear you are doing so well! Just make sure you walk as much as possible, you heal faster and it cuts down on the gas. You will do great!! Good luck and happy losing!!
  16. Coopersmam If you are bored that is a good sign, means you feel good enough to do something!! Tomorrow will be 3 weeks for me and I'm bored to death, don't get me wrong I went back to work after a week and got laid off!!! Can you believe it?? I have been at my job almost 11 years, now this!! I have not decided what I'm going to do. I can wait it out till business gets busy again or look for something new....hmm! So to be honest I have been home a week now and I'm ready to pull every last hair out!! I tend to be a little on the high strung side and have lots of energy, what to do, what to do! I walk my dogs at least 2 miles every day, that helps. I have been doing a jog/walk routine. We have a high school right by us so we go there, I let the dogs off their leashes and off they run. I jog 1/4 to 1/2 mile and then walk, then repeat. This is how I always got back into shape after having my kids. It really gets your heart pumping. Planning meals has been tough because it is just hubby and me, and he like full fledged meals!! 6'4" tall. The Kindle was on my wish list untill my band started trying to kill me, hubby even had decided to get it for me andnWallo you will have everything you will need, Good luck!
  17. I'm another band to sleeve revision, if you do some research you will see a LOT of revisions. What does that tell you? I can only tell you my experience with the band and it was HORRIBLE!! Plus I never got to goal, just like your family members. With the band it was a lot of WORK, struggle, pain and just not worth it. I think you are making the best decision you could! I have had my sleeve almost 3 weeks now and I LOVE it!! No messing around, just eat and go! Good luck on your decision, and I'm sure a lot of ex-bandsters will chime in too!
  18. GOOD LUCK!!! You will be done in no time, I will scoot down and leave you a spot on the losers bench!!

    Tijuana,Mexico? Passport?

On the way into Tijuana they don't even stop you, the car just slows down and they wave you thru. On the way back, you have to sit in line. It took us a little while maybe 20 minutes. No here is the funny thing, I did not have a passport because I had to have emergency surgery. I did take all of my appropriate documentation, but no passport. On the way back into the states I got a butt chewing from the border patrol agent. I explained to him I needed emergency surgery etc. He still felt it was appropriate to give me a long lecture about how long it has been since passports were required!!! As soon as we passed him we all cracked up laughing! I think I'm going to apply for a passport, just in case I might get to have a "real" vacation!!! Good luck to you!!
  20. Barbara & Brenda Just wanted to pop in and wish you a happy surgery day!!! You will be in and out in no time, and on your way to the losers bench!! Just remember as soon as you can, walk, walk, walk!! You heal faster and it cuts back on the amount of gas you have. Good luck and happy losing!
  21. I'm now almost 3 weeks out and I still love my sleeve, I can't believe the difference from the band. I only had my band for 9 months and the last 2-3 months were a nightmare. I love the sleeve, just eat and go!!

    Food for thought

Thinoneday You know I thought it was okay to have alomonds, and then you wrote that. I looked it up on my list and they are NOT on there! OMG I don't know why I thought they were. Oh well I have not had many and I chew everything to smithereens!!! Lap band teaches you that! I guess I better take them off of my nummy list, I still can't believe I ate something not on my list. I think I will try tuna, I just looked it up and yup it's on there!! Thanks for the heads up!
  24. FabBy50

    Food for thought

I have not tried tuna yet, mainly because it does not sound good. I think sometime next week I will give it a try. I usually love it, so I'm sure it will be fine. I'm stuck on refried Beans, fruit, yogurt, cottage cheese, almonds. That is about it. Good luck everyone!

    At the hospital

Hi Jeepchick So you are home, GREAT!!! Nothing feels better than being in your comfortable surroundings! I still struggle getting enough fluids in, I have to make sure I drink them when I'm not going to eat anything. I have found that drinking Water in the morning before any food is easy. The energy drinks to me are not easy to get down, I poor them over ice it helps. Keep up the good work!!
