Hi to all that read this tale of my journey before and after Lap Band! I gained approximately 100 pounds after I started into menopause which was around the age of 45. I tried for years every thing that came out regarding dieting I was afraid to go out and see anyone that I may have know when I was thin to the point that I have become a Hermit. I had considered Gastric Bypass surgery in the past but I was just not into have my stomach removed so in December 2008 while shopping for Christmas gifts, I got a glimpse of myself in a store window I became so disgusted with myself that when I returned home I got right on the internet and started looking up information on the Lap Band. I presented this to my husband and he agreed this was the way to go. He liked it because it can be reversed. Then I started the research on the Doctors themselves! Through all of my studies on multiple doctors in my area I chose a very nice young doctor with a great track record with this procedure, Dr. Michael Feiz of Beverly Hill, Ca. I called the end of December and chose the date of January 22, 2009 for my first appointment. After all of the testing, talking, consulting and insurance approval, I had my date at Cedars Sinai, Los Angeles, Ca for my banding of March 26th. It all went very well. At my third fill it was found by Dr. Feiz that I had a port problem, I was scheduled for a Port revision again at Cedars on June 19, 2009. After having the revision I still was not able to hold an adjustment so July 26, 2009 I had the entire band replaced. It has been very successful now. I have lost a total of 60 pounds. I am amazed at how well this band works! I recently have started a work out program at the gym. I am at a stall in loosing but I know that it will just take a little more effort and the last 64 pounds will disappear!
