  1. Happy 60th Birthday djk24!

  2. Happy 59th Birthday djk24!

  3. Sorry, I have not posted in awhile, school started and have been busy. I am doing good, I have lost 18 pounds since my surgery which was on 7/6/09. I thought it would come off a little quicker. Had my first fill on 9/18 but did not notice a difference, maybe it will take another fill -still hungry about every two to three hours. Have not had problems with any food that I have eaten, but I am very careful to chew , chew, chew. Good luck Sillypuddy on you up coming surgery.
  4. Just three weeks out from surgery, just wondering if or when pasta is allowed.
  5. Congrats Joyce!!! I know how you feel about being afraid, my surgery was 2 weeks ago. I was so scared they gave me something before surgery to calm me down. The surgery was fine, first night in hospital I was really sore like I had been kicked in the stomach, but nothing I could not handle. I only took two doses of pain med and then started on tylenol. I feel great and am on soft food now. I think you might need to take at least two weeks off work, it has just been in the last few days that I have not been sore. I did not do any kind of diet before surgery. Also Dr Price asked me which type of band I would like, I ask him what did he think and he said the realize band was easier to put in so that is the one I picked. You can go online and read about the Realize band. I also bought Unjury protien on line ahead of time so I would have it when I got home. I really like the chocolate and vanilla and use it three times a day. I was not real crazy about the unflavored, and I have not tried the stawberry or cream of chicken. Good luck you will do fine and if you have any other question I will be happy to answer if I can.
  6. Hi Joyce I am a teacher and off for the summer, so I was really lucky that I got my approval in April so I could have surgery in the summer. Dr. Price did not put me on a diet, I was on a clear liquid diet the day before my surgery and only in the hospital overnight. This has not been bad so don't worry. I felt the same way you do , but everyone here helped with my questions. I am still on full liquid diet until Sunday and I think this must be the hardest part, looking forward to just chewing food.
  7. Hi Sillypuddy I forgot to put that I have Aetna Ins and the process took about 7 months.
  8. Hi All Had my surgery on Mon 7/6 and all went fine. Had a little pain, but nothing that bad. I am on my liquid diet right now and still have all next week on it. It is getting a little boring with my options, but I know it is what I need to do. I surgery went much better than I expected I think the worst part was the hospital bed it was very uncomfortable. Only have taken pain med one day and don't seem to need it anymore.:tongue_smilie:
  9. Just needed some support, my surgery is Monday 7/6 at 11:00, getting very nervous. I have read on other sites about problems people have had after their surgery, I guess I should not be reading these. I know I am doing the right thing, but just getting scared.
  10. Thank you for the offer, I did go ahead a buy 3 different of Unjury so I think I will be good for awhile. I did have a few questions if you don't mind. I have been reading different q&a on different sites about the band. I keep seeing these stories about all the problems people have had with the band, such a vomiting, not able to keep anything down, bad pain, slimming, and something called PBing or PDing( do you know what that is?) I guess I should not be reading any of the bad stuff, my surgery is this Monday at 11:00 with Dr. Price and I am getting very nervous. I know I am doing the right thing, but I keep questioning myself about my decission. Did you feel the same way before your surgery? Dr Price told me that this will be easier than my gallbladder surgery I have a few years ago. Were you in much pain after your surgery and have you had any big problems with the band? Thanks for any insite you can give me.

  11. Anyone have any names for good protien powder, having surgery on 7/6/09 and need to start getting some supplies.
  12. Has any had problems with scheduling their surgery date with Dr Price ?
  13. I am still in the process of getting approved for my band. Still have a lot of questions. Has anyone had their gallbladder out and if so does the band surgery feel a lot like that. I remember all the gas pain in my neck and shoulder and feeling a horse had kicked me in the stomach. But this was not something I could not get thru. After about two weeks I was back to normal.
  14. Thank you for the info. I have been reading the post here for about a month and have found the information helpful. I do sometimes wonder if I will being doing the right thing when I read the ones where people are having trouble with their band.
