I was going to ask this same question, I have begun to itch all over my chest, neck, stomach but especially my breasts! very strange, I too wonder if is some sort of allergic reaction to the band (banded 3.5 months ago)
-
YES!! I am 10 weeks out from surgery, and only down 8 lbs and I didnt lose any of that until my 1st fill (at 3 weeks) I am now going to get my 3rd fill on tuesday, I already have 5.5cc's in. I have been kepping track of my food in a journal and exercising almost every day. I'm even doing real cardio workouts now ( I could'nt do them before) so I do feel more fit and I have gotten alot firmer but it is very discouraging when the scale does'nt move. Just work out like a fiend, because the band does'nt work as well for some as it does for others unfortunately. Good Luck!

I don't really have any restriction....
bella1 replied to ashleyb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
927, I know how you feel,I had my surgery on 1/19/09 and have only lost 6 lbs !!!I keep track of my calories, I walk,do yoga and wii fit everyday and nothing!! I am ready to shoot myself,I spent all my money on this surgery, almost died because of it and not losing weight. I hate to always be the "negative nancy" on here but can't believe some people can lose 40 lbs the 1st month, and some lose nothing.(scream!!!) -
Hi Dan! Thanks for thinking about me,the folks on this website give a lot more support than the actual support group at the hospital. I am glad that you had a good experience w/ Dr. Owens. I have a feeling that you had surgery while he was still in his prime. I'm not sure if you've seen him lately but he seems very old and fragile since he had spinal surgery a few months ago(he has to use crutches or ski poles to walk) that might have something to do with what happend to me during my surgery, not sure but I have definately had a much different experience w/ him.It actually took me a lot longer to get over it than I thought! Oh well, it's over now and I just have to concentrate on making this work now. Thanks again for the support!

hello everyone! I guess, unfortunately that this is this is where this post belongs because I posted this same message on the regular site and nobody had any response or comments about it.but I am wondering if anyone has had anything like this happen to them?My surgery was a disaster! I arrived at the hospital mon.1/19/09,told them I did'nt feel well the night before, they took my temp. 99.9 and said they were going to do surgery anyways.nurse takes my blood and ends up bleeding me all over the floor(she actually ran for a roll of paper towels cuz she did'nt want the Dr. to see.)into O.R. at 12:00,out around 1:00 came out of anesthesia at 3:00, 3;30 they rushed me out the door barely coherent , went home and tried to get up to use the restroom at 7:00, passed out cold! called hosp. they just said lay down. passed out 2 more times that night(anytime I tried to stand up) crawled to my car the next day so hubby could bring me back in, turns out I was bleeding internally, had to stay overnite and got 2 blood tranfusions!!!!! 7days later and I still feel terrible. I hope that nbody has gone through this but I have never read of anyone having anything close to this happen, is that possible?????

Wii are ready to work out!
bella1 replied to shellyphaunts's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Lyndi, this does'nt have to do do with the Wii,(although I think I will go out and buy one now!), I had surgery the same day as you and was wondering how much of the 30 lbs you lost after the surgery?and if you feel any restriction yet or your just using willpower? -
Thanks for all the responses and support! I am 6 weeks out from surgery now and feeling much better, my strength and energy is finally back, if only I could lose some weight now (only down 5 lbs since surgery) yesterday I had my 2nd fill (at 5.5ccs now) maybe that will do the trick, fingers crossed!!!
-
Hi jr, I too had complications with my surgery,(thought mine was the worst possible scenario till I read yours) my doc cut a blood vessel during surgery and I bled internally overnite(passed out repeatedly) and was re-admitted for blood tranfusions, but only stayed in hospital 1 day.33 days is insane! I hope you feel better!! It took me 2 weeks to even feel like standing up after that, and I definately regret having surgery at all now.

bella1 replied to gretchens4's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
O.M.G. you look fantastic! Well your blog gives me hope because I was banded on 1/19/09(tons of complications! but thats another story) and did'nt lose any weight at all until 1st fill on 2/10/09, lost 5 lbs that week and nothing since.I am very discouraged am still always hungry and thinking I made a big mistake but the more blogs I read, I guess for some it just takes a very long time. How long before you lost your first 40 lbs? -
3cc in band for first fill?
bella1 replied to misslonglegs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi ML, I too had my surgery on 1/19/09 and did'nt lose anything until my first fill on 2/10/09 (3cc's) felt some restriction, and lost 5 lbs that week but nothing since! I was just wondering what you are eating on a typical day/ exercise? -
Yes Mariela!!! Change doctors now!!! I too had Dr. Owens because I read that he had so much experience, but I wish I had chosen a different Dr.! I had my surgery done by him at Rancho Specialty hospital and every aspect of it was terrible! not only was the staff completely incompetent, but Dr.Owens cut a blood vessel during my surgery and I bled internally(I could have died!)I highly reccomend you find a new doc.!!!!!!!!!!

-
Gaby, how the heck did you lose 41 lbs in 1 month??? I'm so jealous. I had the band on 1/19/09 and have only lost 8 lbs since. Can you give me some tips (what & how much do you eat?/exercise?) way to go!!!
-
mrs.ebg, I too am 3 weeks out from banding and am always hungry(and the protein shakes dont satisfy the cravings) could you give me an example of what you eat in a day? and was the 31 lbs you lost all post-op?
-
I am exactly 3 weeks out from surgery today and have not lost a pound since. I did lose 15 lbs on the 2 week pre-op diet of 2 protein shakes and a salad w/ tuna a day, but I was starving. Can someone who is losing a good amount of weight at this time give me an example of what you eat/exercise you do in a day???? I would really appreciate it!

my Dr. said that he must have cut knicked a blood vessel during surgery ,but I was'nt bleeding when he closed me up. I'll never know the truth, this surgeon was suppose to have 20 years experience w/ bariatric surgery. Just make sure you try to talk to other patients that have used your DR. before your surgery, I wish I had
-
Hey dancer, My Dr. was Dr. Milton Owens at Rancho Specialty Hospital (Rancho Cucamonga) and I wish I could speak to another patient of his to see if they had any problems,he was terrible in every way! could you elaborate on why you had your band removed? I haven't even had a fill yet but I'm scared of what will happen to me next! Nikki
-
hi debbie, I was just wondering if you could give me a sample of what you eat in a day as I am 14 days out of surgery and have not lost a pound! I did have major complications during surgery which did'nt allow me to exercise until now but I should have lost something, I am amazed at how much you have lost

Banded 1/21/09. Need support.
bella1 replied to JCNY29's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
hey jc, I had surgery mon. 1/19(had major complications, bled internaly, worst case scenario, blah blah blah) but my worst pain was in my right shoulder,up the side of my neck.it was excruciating almost like spasms, mine was probably worse because of my complications but it did pass on the 4th day here it is sat. and I am still sore in the stomach but most of all I'm starving! how does anybody get through this liquid only phase? I;m baffled but anyway I know you wanted a more positive response (sorry) but the more you move the shoulder pain will go away good luck! nikki -
Well all you pre-op's BEWARE!!! lap-band is neither"minimally invasive" or"low risk" like they said.ANY SURGERY IS DANGEROUS! I went in mon.morning(1/19/09) and even though I had a temp. of 99.9 Dr. Owens of the Rancho Specialty Hospital of So.Cal. decided to go ahead w/surgery.(I'll try to make this short) surgery at 12pm into post-op at around 1p.m. took 2 hours to come out of anesthesia, as they rushed me out,(barely concsious) home at 3;30pm I felt very woozy, weak and very ill. at around 7pm Itried to get up to use the restroom and passed out cold!! my head slammed into the wall, my kids were hysterical and my husband freaked out of course. this happend 2 more times that night, anytime I tried to get up. We called the hospital, they told me not to get up just lay and rest next day called my surgeon who said "maybe you should come in" uh ya think so dumb-ass, went back at 12pm tues,(had to crawl to my car)they re-admitted me ran tests and gave me 2 blood tansfusions through the night, turns out they cut a blood vessel and I was bleeding internaly.today is thurs. I still feel like crap and wish I never did it. I was a healthy 38 year old, anything can happen!oh yah , I actually gained 5 lbs during this fiasco, if you can believe that! just make surgery your last option!
