  4. I'm getting frustrated beyond reason!!! I have been following the rules religiously, I am down 80lbs (my surgery was april 13th), but I have completely plateaued. The nutritionist said to stay between 650-850 calories and I do, but I haven't lost a pound in over a month and a half. I don't know what to do.

    What should I do???

Depends, the first day or so after a fill it will be much tighter, then loosen a bit after a couple of days. If it's been more than say 72 hours, you need to get an unfill, it's too tight. You should never feel nauseous or be burping all the time when you hit the sweet spot. You should be content after 2 ounces or so but less than that and you aren't going to get proper nutritional intake.

    How quick

I lost 20lbs on the 2 week pre-op diet and so far post op I average 10lbs a month, I don't cheat and stay around 750 calories a day (my nutritionist says between 600-850 is fine). Losing in the pre op really got me motivated. I got banded april 13th and am down 60lbs since my surgeon's appt. 2 weeks before surgery and feel great. P.S. my ticker isn't updating correctly
  7. Aspartame is poison, it is outlawed for consumption in several countries including Japan because it causes many health problems. All the things mentioned above and in enough quantity it can imitate the symptoms of MS. There are quite a few sugar substitutes out there, my favorite is agave nectar, it's really low on the glycemic index, natural and is really low in calories. Stevia is also a good substitute but I find it too sweet.

    straws

My surgeon, dietician and nurse all said the no straw rule is because you trap air in your stomach and you consume more, the same with gum, you gulp air. My dietician would also be mortified that you are continuing drinking iced coffee drinks after surgery, they really slow down your progress, most are loaded with fat and calories.
  9. :crying: Is anyone else constantly worried that their port had flipped or their band has slipped? I just got banded last week and I can't stop thinking about it, today I felt a pop feeling where my port scar is when I bent over and it's been on my mind since. Any one else paranoid or is this a newbie thing that will fade with time?

    April Bandsters?

Hi, I was banded on the 13th and my doctor is having me wait 2 weeks to go to pureed food. I think it's interesting how much it differs from one doctor to another. At the moment I can't imagine wanting to eat again. I'm supposed to be on full liquids (protein pudding and cream soups) but I'm having trouble getting the protein shakes down.

    Gas Pain?????

I just sent my husband for some gas x, I was banded monday the 13th of april and the chest gas pain has alleviated but I feel like there's a huge bubble in my stomach that wont come out. I hope it helps, it's pretty painful to stand up and walk around.
  12. My doc said 4 days (till the anesthesia wears off) and after your off the pain meds for a couple days.
  13. Have you tried Isopure 0 carb? It's more like drinking kool aid than a shake, (I find the grape's the best) It's got 40 grams of protein per bottle, I usually cut it into 2 servings to avoid dumping.
  14. I called the surgeon, he said he thought it was a bit of malnutrition. When I feel bad I eat less and less, the muscle pain and dizziness was really bad so I'm going to try to consume more calories but it's really hard right now. (for once I'm being told to eat more, lol.)
  15. Thanks. I hope I can wait it out till monday, I think they're closed till then.
