Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Hi Jemimma. I can empathise with everything you have said. It's just not fair eh? Well you are in the right place. I had my band fitted just over 2 months ago. I felt discomfort for the first week or so but it really did get better everyday. It was much less painful than I had thought. Some people get gas in their shoulder but I only got this a couple of times. I had my first fill after 4 weeks (recommended 4-6 weeks) and it was fine. I have now had 3 fills and have very good restriction but some people need more fills than this - it really depends on the individual. As for a typical day I don't really have one at the moment as I had a bit too much of a fill about 10 days ago so have mainly been on liquids. Dr Chris says you will eat about a quarter or what you used to eat when you have good restriction as a guide. But remember things like chocolate and ice cream slide through very easily!!! Any more questions just fire away. I am so glad I made the leap of faith and had the op. My weight really gets me down and I have had enough!!! Dr Chris and his team are great, you will be in safe hands x

Hi Tanya. Whilst I kept the weight off the skin stayed quite saggy but more when I bent over or was on all 4's (keep it clean Garry!!):cursing:. As I've put the weight back on almost twice over it's not saggy but after a c-section and hopefully another 7 stone off I guess it will be saggy again. At least you can hide the sag and I'd rather have it than the excess weight. Flirtylass is looking at tummy tuck options so it'll be interesting to see how it goes. I've only lost about 2 stone so far but I've only been banded just over 2 months. I think for a lot of people they lose quite a bit the 2-3 weeks after surgery and then it slows down until you start having fills as u don't have much/any restriction. I think I've lost about a stone in the last 10 days!!! Not recommended though as I was in quite a lot of discomfort (had a bit too much of a fill). It's calmed down a bit more today but I'm still experimenting with what I can eat. I have to say it hasn't been great for a few days as I was trying to get at least 800-1,000 cals in. I can eat more today though - just had 2 scrambled eggs and a piece of toast I chewed VERY well. I'm full now. I'm glad I can eat normal food again as I was living off skips, ice lollies, yogurt and a bit of chocolate (only since last fill) as they were they only things to go down!!

I've just got some haliborange chewable vit's A,B and D at the moment but I think I need a more complex one esp until my eating settles down. I think I may and get some. The ones I'm taking taste nice though!! :cursing: BTW I saw a friend earlier who commented on my weight loss and I only saw her a month ago. My hubby won't have seen me for 8 weeks when I see him a week on Friday, he should notice the difference. :cursing:

Hey Flirty - let us know how u get on with ur research! When i lost 5 and half stone about 6 years ago my tummy had lots of excess skin. I was only in my 20's and went to the gym 5 times a week so I am a bit worried about excess skin. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it though. I can't believe how many newbies there are - it's great and ur in the right place! x

Hi Freckles - I should've given u my mobile number. I'll PM it to u Harrison is fine thanks - into everything. Yesterday he fell off the bed (not v high though) and this ma fell on the magazine rack and has a bruise (v small) on his eye lid! I'm praying he doesn't get a black eye!! What will people think!! It's horrid eh the choking? It really scared me! I was actually able to eat/drink an acceptable amount this pm so it must defo loosen throughout the day. I think I've lost just over 10kg since I had my band done so that's about a stone and a half. I'm pleased anyway. Ur donig great especially with the non smoking.

Hi everyone I'm back from the in-law's and somehow I got away with not confessing my dirty secret!! I actually ended up with a really sore throat and cold which became the perfect excuse!! My band is still very tight especially in the morning but I can get liquids down and a bit of food so I think I'm over the worst. I may have a little unfill on Sunday as going away in 3 weeks to Tenerife. Has anyone actually had an unfill for a flight over 4 hours? Water is still uncomfortable but I have been trying to neck it! I saw Carrie's post saying she could only sip so that's what I'll do! I actually managed a whole sausage and a spoon of macaroni cheese for dinner. Not the healthiest I know but I've been eating so little I wanted to get some calories inside me as I don't want my metabolism to slow down. Freckles - sounds like we are in the same boat!! How are you feeling now? I can actually say in the last 10 days I haven't felt hungry once - so I have faith my band will help me lose weight! I had at the back of my mind I'd be one of the people it didn't work for. Wishful - many congratulations!! You look faaaaaaaaaaaaar to young to be a granny!! Hello to everyone else, all the newbies and those who've just been banded. I'm here until Thursday then off again to see a friend for a few days!! I've got another friend staying for a few days at the mo. We went to a National Trust property today and the hip carrier thing to carry the baby didn't fit me! I would've usually been mortified but thought I'd go back next year and try again!! God I really don't wanna go back to work!! I'm working on that one!!

Wendy really is lovely. I can defo recommend WLS to anyone. She's been doing this quite a long time and I trust her advice. Anyway I am off to the in law's in a bit. Still can't decide whether or not to tell them or to just lie!! So I won't be on line for a few days. I tried some of the puree I had done for Harrison before and it hurts (very tasty lasagne though!!). He won't eat the baby food jars (another foodie!!) so I've got a good range of meals in the freezer for him, I'll be dipping into them too! I think I can get away with just having soup at dinner time and then play along with it tomorrow. I defo think I'll be having a small unfill a week on Sunday esp as we're going to Tenerife 2 weeks after that.

Oh know Jackie - that's a bit of a blow. I have a feeling the Gary on this forum was advised to lose weight before the op. When have you booked ur op for? Is it feasible to lose 20kg by then? At least it would motivate you. I think I gained weight from booking it to the actual op!! Too many last suppers!! Feeling marginally better this morning but still tight. My hubby won't recognise me when he gets back if I carry on like this!!! Oh I think he will - I was about 6-7 stone lighter when we got married 5 years ago!

I know chocolate goes down so well eh?!! I didn't used to be a massive chocoholic until I had young Harrison, thanks for that little man! He seems to have a sweet tooth too bless him. Good job I can control it! I just don't want him to be food obsessed like me!

Hi ladies - glad u got ur fill OK! Wendy's lovely eh? God I hope she doesn't think I've been moaning about her! Like you say - just the tiniest fill can make all the difference. I hope this one gives u restriction without the horrid tightness! Enjoy ur frothy coffee!!

Oh what lovely weekend you have planned, I really hope the weather holds! I'd be making the most of the free food and drink too - though not at the moment!! I'm meant to be gongi to stay with my in laws tomorrow. I haven't told them about the band but if the only thing I can manage is ice lolly's I think I may have to!! I'd postpone but I could do with a bit of help right now as my little one has just come down with a cold and keeping me awake! Not ideal esp the way I feel right now. Roll on 2 weeks friday, hubby home!! If there's anything left of me :mad2:!! I've taken some nurofen melts to ease the swelling. I'd be having an unfill I could get one but it's getting better everyday and it seems a bit pointless trekking across the country if I'll be better in a couple of days! Mmm - how many days were u v tight for? How much have u got in ur band/what size is it? x

Tanya - I hope you get ur date OK. Try giving him a call if you don't hear from him. He usually answers his phone. Guys thanks for ur support. I slept much better last night. Still very tight but I think it's loosening x

Thanks Bigsis our posts crossed!! I did text Wendy who replied quickly saying 'don't panic, drink iced liquids and I'll call you later' which she did. It's so good to have that helpline. When I drank the water at the surgery it felt tightish but not like it was yesterday. I'm OK now though it is still uncomfortable to drink but not as bad. I'll prop myself again in bed again, like when I was in hospital. Let gravity help!!

Oh no what are you gonna do? Can you book a few days off and come down with a mysterious tummy bug for another few days? Not that I prompt sickies but in theory u would be sick - kind of! I wanted to have my op as soon as I had made my mind up (New Year's Eve when I didn't want to leave my seat in case people looked at me). I booked pretty early on in January but had to wait until March when my hubby would be at home. Let us know what u decide to do x

Hi Mandy and welcome back! SO glad everything went OK - we knew it would :frown:! How nice to have other Brit's having their op too. I was on my own when I had my op - maybe as it was Friday 13th!! Sorry to hear you have wind, I only got a bit a few days later in my shoulder. The barium meal really gave me the runs (!!) so that may have helped! I defo didn't need any laxatives to help me!! Gillian and mmm thanks so much for you posts. I was really starting to worry especially when I was choking last pm. I text Wendy and she phoned me back. She said to stay on liquids for a few extra days and just SIP iced cold liquids (lolly's etc) which I've been doing. It defo feels better than it did but still very tight. I will defo be on liquids for a good few days - I could'nt eat anything anyway, even if you offered me a million pounds! I don't even feel hungry! SO I guess the band is donig it's job. Just a little too well. It's quite a scary experience. Well hopefully I'll shift some weight after all this!!

Oh Gillian - did you find anything that went down OK? I've tried ice-cream, smoothie, water, juice and all hurt but do go down. The smoothie was better when it wasn't so cold!

Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Thanks Gillian - that's put my mind at rest a bit. I've managed to drink half glass of smoothie and a small amount of water. I will defo be taking it easy!! I'll see how I get on for the next few days. As long as I don't get dehydrated it should be OK. I don't think I'll be having a fill next appointment!! Also will be gonig to Tenerife in 4 weeks so will need to mention it as really DON'T wanna feel like this on holiday!! Plus it'll be hotter. I just panick a bit especially as I'm on my own for the next couple of weeks with Harrison my baby and don't want to get weak for his sake!! Did you feel as if u were choknig at all during the night!!

All I can say is Dr Chris is a fabulous surgeon. Maybe someone else can help on the other bits as I'm not sure. U are making the right decision though. Let us know what u find out x Guys - it still hurts getting liquids down. I'll see how it goes and phone WLS later me thinks. I forgot to say I kept waking myself up last night (well 3-4 times) as it felt like I was choking. Not nice eh? I'm trying a smoothie, it does go down but hurts a bit and feels like it's having a job to get down. Eeeek!

Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Morning guys. I could do with a bit of advice please. I think basically I've had a bit of an overfill on Saturday. It still is uncomfortable drinking anything even water. Last night I had to prop myself up in bed as when i lay on my tummy/side I could feel gurgles and like I was producing a bit of saliva. Anyway I'm OK if it's likely to loosen over the next day or so. Has anyone else had this? Mmm - what did it feel like when u had that hic-cup incident? Do you feel OK now? It's one extreme to another!!

Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Ah Bigsis I'm sure u'll be fine!! I'd only lost a lb when I weighed in yesterday but that may have had something to do with the McDonalds and various other things I'd had the day before!! I'd been doing well until then! BTW - Steve/Wendy said that Michelle from the WLS has had her baby so all good there!!

Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Good luck Odgemodge and for ur friend Flirty!! We want to hear all about it when you both get back. Odgemodge you'll be just fine x. Bigsis - great to have you back! I have slightly more than you in my band now. I had a fill yesterday and it's taken me up to 6ml in a 7-9ml band. I defo have restriction at the moment, it is a little uncomfortable getting any form of liquid done. I'm sure it'll ease up over the next day or so. I'm just taking it easy. Freckles - how are you doing? Any restriction? Are you being a good girl and staying on liquids?!!
