Good luck Freckles - will be thinking about you. Sorry to hear about ur mum. She'll be OK. You look after you for a few weeks xxx My mum isn't buying BEST this week as she thought it might worry her! Bless. She knows it's what I want and is happy but she is a born worrier! I start my pre-op diet Friday so am making the most of my last few days of freedom! Tonight: pancakes (of course!!) Tomorrow: pie and mash (to die for award winning pies from local butcher) Thurs: Chinese take-away ............................not that I have it planned or anything!! I am going to research fills as I will have to go into London which isn't the easiest for me. I spoke to Dr Chris's lady who does the appointment and she was very unhelpful when I asked when he was in London over the coming months and would not let me book a fill for after my op. If they get booked up I don't think forward thinking is a bad idea!! Well, let's see as I am not waiting months for a fill. Summer will soon be upon us and I am not having another fat one!! -

Hi peeps!! I am back from my week at the in-laws!! I am home now until we leave for Belgium a week on Friday. 19 days until the big day!! I am very excited especially after seeing myself on a video my father-in-law took of my baby and I! I could've cried! I probably would've done if I wasn't having the band fitted. I am going to try and read the last 15 pages which have been posted since I went away! I hope everyone is happy. :hurray: Lots of love xxxxx -

Hi everyone Freckles - I am glad you are nearly 'sorted' what a journey you have had in more ways than one!! Wishful - I am glad the fill went OK and you get some restriction from it. Englishrose - that weight loss is great, when was your band fitted? My mum bought me some liquid multivitamins from the health food shop yesterday - sweet of her! One of my friends is staying with me as she has a 2 month contract working near to where I live. She was reading one of my mags which had an article on Fern in it. She started talking about gastric bands and wondered how they worked. Mum and I looked at each other and I told her all about my forthcoming op. I was going to tell her anyway and she was pleased for me as she knows what a life long battle I have had with my weight. I won't be telling many people though but I know she will be supportive. I have been making my baby some baby foods this morning - pureed veg etc. I will be stealing some off him!! -

Fatpants - I completely agree. We know exactly what each other are going through and everyone is so kind and helpful. I am so much more at ease now after everyone's advice and support. I know I am making the right decision but wouldn't have without this site and it's lovely, lovely people. -

Good luck to you and mmm :crying:!! We want a full report when you are feeling up to it! My date is Friday 13th too (but in March). It was the only date that fitted, I want this so badly so thought stuff this it's only a date!! Mmm - I will read up about the crash. My husband is a pilot so is bound to be dissecting the whole event with his friends! How awful to witness such an event. Fatpants hope you are feeling OK today. All you other lovely peeps - I hope you are good too and I am so pleased everyone seems to be doing so well. This forum is a god send! I have my eye on the euro exchange rate everyday - I hope the £ gets a big stronger over the next couple of weeks! I will be starting my pre-op diet in 2 weeks time. I will be in Belgium for a week of it as my husband, baby and myself are gonig to go to Bruges/Brussels beforehand as we don't seem to have had a holiday in a while and I think our holiday fund has been spent this year on my band !! Well I know which I would prefer. I would be miserable somewhere hot anyway. I was last holiday and I have another 3 stone on thanks to my pregnancy!! Well my little boy is lovely and all worth it, just a shame I didn't crave celery or cucumber! Nope I craved anything sweet, typical as I could take or leave puds/choc etc before and now I can't :mad2: . Eating out is gonna be difficult in Belgium but I will be good, maybe just one belgium choc!! -

Hi there peeps! I am back after nearly 2 weeks at my mum's house. I am on maternity leave so get to do these things!! She has no internet bless, my husband refers to her house as 'a communications black spot!!' Anyway I am back now for a few days then off to see my mother in law for half term as she is looking after my niece. Shoes - I am sorry I won't be having my op the same day as you but it is great that you have got a sooner date! I wish i was because like you I can't stop eating crap and going out for meals saying 'this may be the last time I can eat this or go to this restaurant'! Freckles - hope you had a nice holiday.Have you got a date yet? Flirtylass - hi there and well done on the weight loss! Gillian, Bigsis, Wishful and everyone else who's just been done, I am glad to hear things are going OK - oh and Gillian I hope you haven't eaten anymore turkey dinosaurs!! I have had a quick flick through the previous pages but haven't had time to read them all will a demanding 6 month old baby! My husband is a great support too. He has no issues with me having the surgery or spending the money. He'll also do pretty much everything for our son until I feel better. Bless  Did people speak to their GP before having surgery? I did kind of mention it (to break the ice kind of thing) when I took my son in a couple of weeks back. He just laughed and said I couldn't tag it on the end and needed a full appointment (I was just testing the Water and wasn't expecting a full consultation!). He is so skinny and I don't think really understands but I don't really want to not tell him in case something goes wrong. However I know he likes my husband and I but I am scared to go and speak to him!! He made a comment once along the lines of 'god your shopping bill must be huge' and then realised what he'd said (my husband is large too!!). I just laughed it off but it made me think he doesn't realise what a sensitive subject my weight problem is!! I don't really want to go to another doctor as he is the best of a bad bunch!! I live in a village and think they have come here to pasture!! -

Flirtylass - I am so sorry to hear about your dog - that's really sad. Big hugs x Shoes - don't worry if you are not into facebook we can keep in touch through this forum or just ask your daughter to help you out!! Let's make sure we keep in touch. I am away for about 10 days and won't have internet access so I will catch up with you then. mmm - with regards an attachment entitled 'offer' I haven't had anything just an email saying I am book in for 13th March :cursing: - should I phone him? Wishful, bigsis and gillian I hope you are recovering well and you sort out the fills! I am wondering whether to book directly with Julie then - does she do the diary for London as well? I won't be on line after tonight for about 10 days or so, I will look forward to catching up with you then  xxxxx -

Good idea - I will email Frederik. It'll mean we don't have to change rooms etc too. I want to lose at least 7 stone but ideally 9 stone (that sounds awful and I feel disgusted with myself but I guess everyone on here knows how I feel!!). I was overweight before I had my son 6 months ago but managed to put on another 3 stone since getting pregnant. Most people put on a few lbs but nope I put on a few stone!! I haven't lost a lb of it! It keeps going up and down! Yes I am on facebook - are you? I have avoided putting any recent photos of myself on there and de-tagged any that any of my friends have tagged!! I don't think I will be making any gastric band related status updates for a while if at all! I have told my mum and brother and that is it for now. I am sure I will tell friends after the event but I don't want anyone trying to put me off or worrying for me! -

I'm going with the 4070 euro package so the hotel is included so we'll be near the hospital. I will book an extra night on the end of it. We'll probably end up eating at the hospital as we've got a baby. I will be probably be getting the taxi to the hospital and then my husband will prob come later. I am not really that sure how long (if at all) they will let him bring our baby in (he'll be 7m old and is really happy, no trouble). IF they won't let him in with a baby I won't be too worried as I know that he'll be waiting and some people have to go through the whole journey and op on their own -

That made me laugh sparky! The concept of 'the last supper'!! I am already starting my 'last suppers' making sure that I get a few of my fav's in before March 13th!! I am trying to balance it out though. Thanks flirtylass - 12 lbs is great in a week. I will defo try and be really good the 2 weeks before and maybe look on the net to find some restaurants that do fish etc. I will be giving my husband strict instructions NOT to eat puddings etc in front of me - they will be banned! He can have a coffee after his meal and that's it! -

Does this mean that you won't get that full feeling until after your first fill? I take it that you are limited to what you can eat in terms of texture straight away though? I was hoping to start losing weight straight away so I can actually fit into my gym clothes and not have to buy yet more!! I think when you see yourself losing weight it becomes easier as you actually see the difference and it gives you encouragement. Thanks flirtylass, bigsister and mooster for the info on band prices and insurance. Sorry, I missed off one question! What kind of things can you eat on the pre-op diet? I ask as my husband, little boy and are are probably going to drive over to Brussels and make a little holiday of it beforehand as we've not been away for a while! I will have to plan food etc if it is very restricted and consider whether or not we can do it. Has anyone else driven over? My husband has no problems driving on the right and Brussels is not that far from Calais but I was wondering what the journey was like after the op? Probably no worse than flying I guess and at least I can just sit in the back of the car and moan (with no bra on and no make up by the sounds of things!!) and no one will see me!!. We'd probably stay 2 nights after the op too just to make sure. -

Freckles, mmm, bigsister, wishful and gillian thanks so much for your advice and support. I am so glad that I have found this forum. I have told my mum and brother that I am getting banded but have decided not to tell my friends until after 'the deed (!)'. My husband works away alot so it is so nice to have people to speak to and even better that you have gone or are going through the same experience. Freckles, I am sorry to hear that you have had problems. I really hope you sort it out and it's great that you have remained positive! I am working my way through the previous pages on this thread but had a few specific questions if someone wouldn't mind helping me out! - Have you had any problems getting an appointment for a fill when Dr Chris is in UK? Specifically London? - Does anyone know roughly how much they are? - Once you get the right fill do you still need to keep getting them monthly? Do you need monthly fills forever (as long as you have the band)? - Do you need extra travel insurance for the trip/procedure? If so is there any specific companies anyone can recommend? Sorry for all the questions!! It seems everywhere I look at the moment people are talking about gastric surgery! On TV, in magazines! I hasn't put me off, I am more certain than ever that this will be the best move I ever make! I am not a junk food freak, I just love food and unfortunately often don't know when to stop !! Thanks guys x  -

Thanks Freckles!! I know, March will soon come around. I spent Christmas at my mum's house and had a good look through some of the lovely clothes I bought when I had a brief spell of being thin! (I took a about 2/3 suitcases full to her house for safe keeping after running out of space at home!) They nearly went on ebay but now I'm very excited at the prospect of wearing them again! Have you got any words of wisdom or key bits of info that would really help me?! :scared2: I will have a look back through the post and see if I can piece together your story x -

Hi there I am totally new to this so please forgive me if I do something wrong and please tell me!! Well, after battling with my weight for as long as I can remember I have decided to take the plunge and get banded!! After reading great reports on this forum I have decided to 'get done' by Dr Chris! I have paid my deposit and am booked in for Friday 13th March (I know Friday 13th!! This was the only date that really fitted with my husband. I keep telling myself that I am not superstitious!!) :crying: Everything seems to be happening so quickly but when I make my mind up about something I just want it done!! I thought I may have to wait months especially booking so soon after Christmas! Anyway I am both very, very excited and a little nervous so will probably be on here a lot! I had an emergency cesarean last year and keep telling myself it can't be any worse! :scared2: Is anyone else out there getting banded by Dr Chris on the same day? If so please get in touch!! I'd also love to hear from anyone who can give me any advice or tips. Thanks in advance x
