    ONLY RNYer at LBT??

I had my RNY surgery on May 27. I am still pretty bloated but have lost about 5 lbs since the surgery. I am looking forward to some RESULTS, that's for sure. I feel like a complete wimp but I was SHOCKED :crying: by how much it hurt and by how bruised I am. My stomach is completely black - not lightly bruised, seriously BLACK. it's really the weirdest thing I've seen on my body so far! And I feel better and better every day but for a few days there, man I was wiped out! But as I said, it has not yet been a week and I'm sure the best days are all ahead of me . . . Good luck to you on your journey! cheers, Deb Wow, I sound like a debbie downer - I'm so excited about mine really I am. I was just noticing a few things . . .

    Waiting . . .

Well, I fulfilled all of the requirements and now have to wait for the insurance company to approve the surgery. THEN, I can get assigned a date and start in on the pre-op physical stuff. It will be about two weeks before we hear from the insurance company so that gives me time to get started on my 10% weightloss that my doctor is requesting (requiring?) before surgery. I think it's a recommendation but I want to talk to them more in detail about this. I also think I have decided to try the OPTIFAST diet that they recommended at the last meeting I went to at the doctor's office. I will be on liquids for six weeks anyways - might as well get used to it right? I have about 35 lbs to lose before surgery . .. the thought scares me a little but I am determined to get this started and failure is not an option at this point.

    Morbid Morbidity

Maybe I'm just a geek but I love reading your posts. You write down all of the things I have inside my head and am too impatient or too self conscious to actually type out. Write it all down . . . Personally, I am loving both your talent and your courage! Good luck to you!

    Still jumping through hoops

Ok, I know everyone has to do this or something like this - but I'm still jumping through hoops . . . . and they keep adding more! I went to the first meeting at the Surgeon's office this morning. I have to have another nutrition counseling session (I already did 7 weeks!) and then meet the doctor at a meeting called doctor talk, and then I have to attend a support meeting. I've scheduled the nutrition and the doctor talk for the same day (next Wednesday the 24) and can attend the support group meeting anytime before surgery. After next wednesday they will submit for approval for the surgery. That will take about 7-10 days. I could have a surgery date in 3 weeks or so! I'm getting excited! Maybe this WILL actually happen . . ..

Hi Sunshine, I can't help with the weightloss WW problem but I can tell you that after my hysterectemy it was a good 6 months before I felt completely normal. I was tired, emotional and just not normal for a while. I don't regret it - hands down best surgery to date - but the tiredness is normal. Relax and recover! Good luck, Deborah

    And then. . .

So the next step is my first visit to the surgeon. I have that visit on Friday. Apparently I have to attend one of their seminars and meet with my surgery coordinator. It's ok - I'll jump through whatever hoops they hold up - it feels like I am almost there. I moved this weekend. I wanted to postpone the surgery unitl after I was finished moving. After 13 years I have a pretty nice sized mess to clean up at the old place. And I think I burned out all of my helpers moving. I'll make my kids help though. They grew up there - they can take some responsibility right? In the meantime, I am loving living alone. I love the new place it feels so airy and spacious! The perfect place to start a new life - with a healthier body!

    Psyche!!!

So today I had my psych eval . . piece of cake! This guy would have written an authorization I think no matter what I had to say. It makes me feel cynical to say so but - I think it's true! I also finished my nutrition classes on Monday. I think! There could be a glitch. My gp office got authorization for me from the wrong insurance. I became eligible at my new job in November and stopped paying COBRA in October, I have no idea WHY Health Net would ever have approved me when I was no longer with them - but they did. And I didn't find out until two weeks ago. . . So, there could be problems. I am not certain that Blue Shield has the same requirements as Health Net. I hope I don't have to start over with the whole thing? Because that would SUCK!!! But, I'm going to keep a good thought, so far everything has gone well and I'm sure that this will work out fine!

    In the beginning . . .

Judy, Congratulations on your date! I don't think that they require me to do six months of dieting . . . at least I've not heard that as of yet! Good luck to you! Deborah
  15. Hi, I'm Deborah and new to the forum. I have been reading and learning for about a week now and just joined and wanted to introduce myself. I am early in the process - pre-surgery and in the middle of the education stage. I have my final nutrition class next week as well as my psych eval. After that my doctor will re-submit to the insurance co for approval. (First request was denied) I'm enthusiastic, scared and relieved to be in this position. I've always been big but my world has become so small and limited it is definitely time to make some changes. I look forward to making some friends and sharing my journey!
