Did you tell co-workers?
Gus-Gus replied to Minnah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told my co-workers, mainly because I discuss most everything. I took three weeks off for my surgery and several of my co-workers filled in for me. I am the second person in my office to have a lap-band. The other co-worker had hers about 2 1/2 years ago and being able to discuss all this with her has been a godsend. My co-workers have all been very supportive. One of them even came over the day I got out of the hospital and brought my hsuband and son dinner. You know your co-workers best and will know what to tell them when the time comes. I personally had no problem admitting to anyone that I needed help getting back on the road to a healthy lifestyle. Good luck with your surgery and journey. -
How will fills be different than bandster hell?
Gus-Gus replied to als74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm with you, I was banded on 9/29/08 and seem to be bouncing back and forth between the same two pounds for the past three weeks now. I have lost 60 pounds and not gained any so I am not "freaking" out too much, just a little. One of the things that I have started doing and that seems to help is getting in at least 36 to 48 ounces of Water in each day. Last week I did that and showed a loss. The more you drink the less you retain. I also find that if I drink my water, I feel full longer. Hang in there. It will take a while but unlike all the other diets we have all tried, you wont fail at this one. -
Hi Cherrygirl, I am from Corona and I was banded on 9/29/08 by Dr. Krahn. He's great and his staff is awesome. I'm down 60 pounds so far (pre-op and post-op). The post op things that helped me the most were sugar-free chocolate pudding and sugar-free popsicle. Especially the diet soda popsicles (I could only find them at Stater Bros). Soft scrambled eggs also helped. Once your on regular food, I have found that foods cooked in the crockpot are much softer and I don't get "stuck" as often. Good luck and keep us posted.

Hello, I am new to this forum (and blogging in general). I was banded on 9/29/08 by Dr. Krahn in Riverside, CA. I have had two fills and am down about 60 pounds so far. Still a little frustrated though, because I'm not sure if my fills are correct, etc. Sometimes I am full right away, sometimes if I don't measure my food I can eat and eat and I have gotten "stuck" a few times now. The worst part is I feel like I am always hungry. It's very frustrating. My work schedule has made is very hard to get to the support groups through my doctor's office so I am hoping chatting with you all will help me get through the learning process and beyond. Any advice is welcome.

Hey guys, Thanks for the words of encouragement. I am very excited about the progress I've made so far. My health has already improved so much and I anticipate I will be off all my High blood pressure meds within the next few months. My reason for being frustrated is that I am so excited about adjusting to my new lifetime "lifestyle" change and it's hard when I'm not sure how my fills are supposed to work etc. One thing I do know for sure is that no matter how long it takes, this is one program that will not eventually fail like all the rest have. To: ReallySmrtGirl, good luck on your upcoming surgery. During your post op phase the things that really helped me were sugar free chocolate pudding and sugar free popsicles. Stater Bro's had diet soda popsicles that were awesome. Keep me posted on how it goes.

Hello all, I am new to blogging so please bear with me as I learn. I was banded on 9/29/08 and have had two fills so far. I am losing weight but..... My doctor doesn't use and x-ray or anything like that when doing a fill, he inserts the saline as I am drinking water, but I don't know yet, when to say stop. There are times when I feel like my band is full enough, there are times when it feels too full and there I times when I know that if I let myself, I could eat to my heart's content. It has all been very frustrating. Is this normal? Does it get better? And is it normal to be hungry about every 3 hours. Please let me know some of your experiences. Unfortunately I haven't been able to make it to my doctor's evening support group meetings, so I am hoping chatting with you guys will help.

Eating 700-900 cals and gaining. TOM the problem?
Gus-Gus replied to als74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone, I am new to this site and new to blogging as well. I got my band on 9/29/08 and was weighing myself about every three days. Driving me crazy. I made a New Year's Resolution to wiegh once a week. I showed no weight loss from last Thursday to this Thursday (actually showed a .2 oz weight gain) and am freaking out a little, so I know how you feel right now. But I'm going to hang in there and you hang in there too. I'm hoping we will eventually figure this all out.
