  1. Hey Kat, did you get your fill yet? I go in a week from today to get mine. I can not wait. The battle has been tough lately I feel like I am eating to much eaven though its not really a lot. I have gotten the tightness feeling a couple of time, however I have not slime yet ;) I just need to remember to eat SLOWER and chew. I will let you know how I am doing after my fill.

Just curious as to what you are doing as far as exercising. I try to walk most days, but I do get lazy. I have been trying to swim too which is a little more fun that walking.

  2. Nice GOALS WILLIAM, I know that buying those smaller jeans is a great feeling. I have had to uy some smaller clothes as well, but I cant wait till i can go into any "regular" store and get whatever the heck I want. A quick THANKS to all that have posted on here. It is really amazing how many similar goals we all have. I know all of us will get there one of these days. KEEP UP all the great work, and I look forward to seeing how all of us progress over time.
  3. I have 1 incision in my belly button, and a real small one right below my sternum.
  4. Hello there, Enjoyed reading some fo your blog, Congrats on your "first mini goal"

I was banded on July 9th by Dr. Van Wagner in St. Louis, and am down about 15lbs since surgery. I have not have the guts to try to eat bread yet ;) I wish I could. I actually miss it a bit.

    Keep up the great work!!!!!

    What are you eating?

I was banded on the 9th, and I am eating things like crackers, cottage cheese, pudding, chicken salad. I am allowed to have pretty much what ever I want at the moment, but I am sticking to the mushie list items my Dr. gave me.

Went in to see my Doc today..Great News!!!

CONGRATS AYA!!!! I just got similar news this morning. I just got back from my PCP and he has taken me off ALL my meds :nanahump: I was taking 1000mg glucophage X 2 daily 10mg glucotrol X 2 daily 60mg Actos X 1 daily 135mg Triliplix X 1 daily 45mg lisinoprel X 1.5 daily 500mg Lovaza X 2 daily Proud to say I am off all of the above right now, and at only 1 month post op. I just hope it stays that way. My next goal is to get off my sleep apnea machine. plus Vitamin D3, and Baby asprin everyday.
  7. Hey Ray, Just wanted to see if you had your seminar yet?

Dr. Wagner is one of the best in the area, and just started doing the single incision surgery. which is pretty cool. I only had to holes in me. One about 1/4 in wide right below my sternum, the other is inside the belly button area. and you cant even see it. Again if you have any question just ask.

    Time between meals

Hey michelle, I am still 2 weeks out from my first fill, and I have something about every 2 hours. which I am sure is not really the greatest thing. but I keep my calories low. I only have about 900-1200 calories a day. I am also still eating a lot of the mushie stage food, even though I am aloud to have regular food. I am just slowly adding new foods each day.

You are looking great Kelly, The full body shot is a nice picture. Kepp up the greatwork.
  11. Hey Catherine, I just wanted to let you know I really enjoy reading your blog. I try to visit it often.

  12. Nice tattoo work there, Only have one myself :) I was banded about 2 weeks before you and am doing pretty good. I dont have any issues as of yet, but I do expect a few when I get my first fill. I myself am looking to get another tattoo when I reach my goal weight. I would like to get some sort of phoenix to symbolize my new life. Keep up the great work and keep me posted on your progress.

  13. In my own opinion if you want to tell them, tell if not then don't. I personally know why I got the lapband, and it was to have a better quality of life for myself. If co-workers or friends or family cant understand that, then that is their problem. So far I have not had one single person say anything bad to me, and everyone has told me I am looking really good, and to keep up the good work. I find it to be a really good motivator in helping with the weight loss.
  14. Hey Kat, just noticed you and I were banded pretty close to the same time. Where is galena? I live near St. Louis in Ofallon IL. Anyway I see your having a little frustration with your band as well. My Dr. had put a little fluid in the band during surgery as well, and the first week I could not even drink 20oz of water in a day. now I feel like I didnt even have the surgery, I have been able to eat just about whatever I want. Which is very frustrating. Just keep your chin up and it will work out fine. I actually dont even go in myself for my first fill til the 26th of Aug.

  15. Hello, Well I go to my PCP this friday which will be good for me, since I will get a better sense on how I am doing with the weight. I also get to see if he is going to continue to keep me off all my meds. I ahve not taken any since 2 weeks pre op, and all my numbers have been good. I go see my lapband Dr. on the 26th so I am really hoping to get some better restriction after that. I am not doing bad, but there are times where I think I am eating to much.

I hope all is well and talk to you soon.

  16. Well I was taking 8 pills a little over a month ago  Since then I was told to stop taking all my meds and to keep an eye on my blood pressure, blood sugar numbers, and at pre op they wanted to know what my triglycerides were. I am VERY HAPPY to say that I am still off of all my meds and all my numbers are well within the "normal" range. I go back to see my PCP this friday to see if he wants to keep going as is.

    mens weight loss amounts

Well I have currently had my band for just about a month, since my 2 week pre op diet till now I have lost 45 pounds. I am down about 70lbs since I started my adventure back in Feb of this year. I go for my first fill in about 3 weeks and cant wait to start felling restriction.
  18. Hey Ray me again, The program so far is going great!!! I was just banded on July 9th, and I just started my "real" food stage. 1st week after surgery is clear liquids, 2nd week is full liquids, 3rd week is mushie type foods, and this week is modified regular menu.

So far I am down about 70 pounds or so with about 45 of them being lost since June 24th. my first follow up was 1 week after surgery in which i lost 13lbs. since then I have only lost about 8, but I have also incorperated food into my diet. You don't realize how good cottage cheese taste until that is the only real food you can have at the time. When you go to the seminar, you will get tons of information. It will seem a little overwhelming but they will answer any questions you will have. plus there may be other bandsters there that you can get real life experiance questions answers. Like I said I am here if you have any questions.

  19. Hey Ray,

I would do it again in a heart beat. Dr. Wagner and his staff are the best. They were there for me every step of the way. Even though his office has a program fee of like $350 or so it was so worth it.

As far as the procedure went. I started back in Jan and went to a seminar from there I had to do a 6 month supervised diet for insurance purposes, which was not too bad. Once that was complete Karen and Sarah from Dr. Wagners office took care of everything. I was approved within 2 days of them sending it to insurance.

I think the hardest part for me was that I had to do a 2 week pre op all clear liquid diet. I kept my eye on the prize and stayed with it. Lost 30lbs in the process.

If you have any questions at all I would love to answer them. I know I had tons of questions. So when do you plan on going to the seminar?

  20. I had to do a 2 week pre op liquid diet, then 2 week post op liquid diet, and since June 22nd, which is right about the time I started the pre op diet I had lost 40lbs. So I am not sure if it is normal, but it sure felt good. since I started on mushies and regular food I am only down about another 6lbs.
  21. Thank You!!! I am currently about 5lbs from my first mini goal. It will be a weight that I have not been in almost 14 years. Getting pretty excited about it.
  22. Congrat Agnes, I was banded 1 day after you  I totally know the feeling about actually being able to eat something. I never thought in a million years that cottage cheese could taste soooo good. I also dont really have any restriction right now which makes me weigh myself everyday. I dont go in for my first fill untill the 26th of Aug. because my Dr. is on vacation. :mad2: Anyway again great job and keep up the great work.
  23. Glad to hear you are feeling restriction. I have a little, but not much it really depends on what I eat. I made some blended chicken salad that I eat with about 4-5 crackers, and that really fills me up. Dr. told me that the restriction thing will get better after the first fill, and that the first 4-6 weeks is kind of just a learning grace period.

I too am down about 15lbs since surgery :) I really feel it in my body. My wife is taking a weekly picture of me to show the progress so I think I will try and get those posted soon. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK. Talk to you soon.

  24. Hey again, I can totally understand the restriction thing now, I pretty much have been eating what I want, but I am choosing not to eat alot of it though. I had to call my Dr. and see what the deal was. Since I am not having a fill till Aug. 26th.

  25. NICE, I am sure all of those things get a WHOLE LOT BETTER, TOO!!!!!!!
