I have had no problems with surgery or pain and can really do just about anything except eat. all i think about is eating. i keep hoping that when i can eat fish chicken salad that i will feel better about my decision. I knew this wasn't going to be easy but i really thought i would have handled this better. Good luck we can do it we just have to take it one day at a time

I had lap band removed Jan 6, 2015 and had sleeve revisions march 1. i was hoping to have restriction since my sleeve never worked -
I have been banded doe 5 years and have never found the right fit for mr. I have to be in the zone to loose weight. I was either to tight or not enough. Thinking about taking band out and going with sleeve. My doctor said he hardly does any lap bands any more mostly sleeve. Tells me that he isn't happy with results of lap banding. Your thoughts

Feeling Discouraged like its never going to work.
grandmasandy replied to jasmajo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wish I could help but I feel as though the lap band hasn't worked for me. I had fills and unfills many times in the past 5 years but I still never got to the point where I felt in control with the band. I am looking into removing it and going with the sleeve if insurance and I can find a doctor to do surgery. Good luck -

Great job so far. This is the hardest time but you will get through it. It takes 4-6 fills to really start getting restriction for most. I havde 7.2 in a 10cc band and can still tolerate most foods can't eat much at a time but can eat often. Junk food goes real well. I had a bad week and have been eating all of the wrong things. I am going to really try hard this week to eat the right food, Protein first and fish and vegetables. I have lost 91 lbs. and had surgery in April. So keep up the good work and if you get discouraged just get on line and we'll try to cheer you up. Remember we were all new at one time and no question is a stupid question. grandmasandy -
3 weeks post op and feeling frustrated already =(
grandmasandy replied to coingirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I know how you feel. The time between surgery and you first feel is the hardest because you can eat all you want and almost anything you want. You don't have restriction at all at this point. You need to adjust to this because it could take 4-6 months to start getting good restriction. You are living in diet hell for the next few months so you must deceide who is in charge. Take control of yourself and eat the correct food starting with protein and fruits and vegetables. I was able to get down salads pretty good for the first 3-4 months but now can 't even get down a small cup. It does get a little easier with each fill. However it will take 4-6 fills to start reaching some restriction. We are all different. We have to remember the doctor didn't operate on our bad behaviors or brains. He gave us a tool for our stomach we have to work on the other things to make this work. I know how frustrating the first 6 months but I have lost 91 bls. and feeling great. I have 30 to go but would not have gotten here without the help of other. Good Luck Sandy -
3 weeks post op and feeling frustrated already =(
grandmasandy replied to coingirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I was banded in April and I had the same questions as you all do. I really didn't understand that I would be hungry until I got to restriction or I didn't listen. I was very hungry and could eat anything. Don't be alarmed if it takes 4-6 months to start feeling restriction. My doctor would only put in .6 at a time every 5 weeks so it seemed to take forever. I am however at 7.2 in a 10cc band and can only take in small amounts. My problem is I can eat almost anything still. I have to watch my portions and what I put in my mouth. Unfortunately junk food goes down well. Listen to what everyone is saying about protein first and eat healthy with exercise and it will work. I have lost 91 lbs. since April and still have 30 to go. I feel better but I still make mistakes. It is still hard work and will power that we will have to have for the rest of our lives. GOOD LUCK. grandmasandy -
Have had up to 9cc's and no real difference
grandmasandy replied to lapband967's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi I have 7.2cc in a 10cc band and I am just now starting to really feel restriction. However I can eat just about anything as long as it isn't alot at one time. This is frustrating because I can also eat often and when eating the wrong foods I don't lose any weight. My chest hurts when I eat to much. You will know when you reach that point, you will slime or your chest might hurt or even your back. I hope this helps. Also my doctor always checks to see how much is in my band before adding just to make sure it is not leaking. grandmasandy -
Help! Stuck capsule!!
grandmasandy replied to jms462001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi try taking 1 teaspoon of meat tenderizer and adding it to warm water maybe 1/4 to 1/2 cup. drink this and let it sit for 1 hour. I have tried this on 2 occassions and it has helped. I know it helps disolve protein so maybe it will help you. Also if the pill is juice plus you can chew them because my grandson does. Grandmasandy -
I don't understand why people are talking about politics, prostitutes and animals. This is a lapband site for those of us who are serious and reaching out for help. Someone even put out a post on why does someone ask about fish recipes.Well gues what that is something we all need is ideas on how to eat right. I use sweet bourbon glaze on my fish. I rub them with olive oil and bake or lightly fry then add the glaze for a minute or two on each side. All of us reach out and need help now and then. This site is for those who do. There was one thread about 4 little rats (animals). Unless we are learning how to prepare them, who cares. Now don't get me wrong I like animals but this isn't a site for that. Get on an animal site or email specific people for pesonal information besides what can help those of us on this site. The reason why some don't reach out is because of simple minded people who demean them and make them think that their question is stupid. If it contains to food or weight this is the forum. Get back on track and God Bless! Grandmasandy

Should prostitution be legal?
grandmasandy replied to Carrie_C's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Sorry but what has this got to do with lapband or weight loss? Get focused and email or go to another site to talk about this. grandmasandy -
I hate it when people post just to post.....
grandmasandy replied to TerriDoodle's topic in The Lounge
Don't want to sound like a bitch, but I would rather be asked about a fish recipe that might be helpful to my cause than to here about your pigs ( animals ). What have they got to do with lap band unless were suppose to eat them. I like animals but if I want to read about them I'll go to another site. This site is suppose to be helpful to post op and any one who wants help or information about the band and food. Just because you don't need it doesn't mean someone else doesn't. We all go through tough moments and need encouragement now and again. Try sweet bourbon glaze on your fish and see if it will taste better. You can get it at specialty shops. I just rub the fish with oil and grill it and when it is about done I add the glaze for a minute or two on each side. Don't forget to spray pam first. Oh by the way I am 8 months out and have lost 91 lbs. but still look for good recipes. Remember this is a lapband website if you want to talk about other issues get the persons email and go that route. Have a Blessed Day. Grandmasandy -
I had Dr. Wagner on April 28 08 and he is awesome. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a great surgeon. I wasn't aware of the upfront fee. I had to pay cash for my surgery which sucks because my insurance failed me after a year of jumping through hoops. I took out a loan and do not regret it. I have lost 91 lbs. and have saved on all of the junk food, resturaunts and drinks I would pick up. I know it is a lot of money, but how much are you spending now? Good luck, Grandmasandy

Hi Everyone, This is my first time to this site. I was banded on 4-29-08 by Doctor Wagner in St. Louis Mo. he is wonderful. I have 7.2 in a 10cc band. I am not totally there but am getting closer. I have lost 91 lbs. and would do it again in a minute. I won't say it was easy but it is worth it. I exercise alot and when following the rules of protein first I usually do well. I try hard not to go with what goes down easier and try to stay away from junk food which really will defeat me if I let it. I want to be at healthy for the next 50 years of my life. I feel great and pray that I will continue to do so. Grandmasandy:drool: -

Hi Petlover, I am from St. Louis and was banded on April 28, 08 and Dr. Wagner is my doctor. I have 7.2 in a 10cc band. I have lost 91 lbs. but it hasn't been easy. I will say this if I follow the rules of protein first I do loose weight easier. I also walk alot. I really have not gotten to total restriction or what they refer to as the sweetspot but am really finally feeling the restriction. You have to stay focused and realize that this is just a tool and to not get into bad habits of eating things that will go down easy. Good luck and keep in touch. Grandmasandy -

Hi Doug, I was banded on April 28, 08 and have lost 91 lbs. I won't lie to you it wasn't easy. What they don't tell you is that it is hard for the first 6 months until you get restriction. I have 7.2 in a 10cc band and have just really started getting good restriction. My hardest problem is not following the rules of Protein first then vegetables. When I do follow this I loose weight. I am from St. Louis and my doctor is Dr. Wagner and he is great. Well good luck. Sandy
