    1st post...new here

welcome! I'm sure you are probably more than excited to be banded! It's an awesome journey! I have 3 kids (9, 6, 4) and have been banded just about 5 weeks and am amazed at how much energy I have to play with them now! Good luck on your journey! Keep us posted!

    Wii Fit

I use my Wii fit every day for about 30 min in the morning. I like the aerobics games as well as the yoga- though my 4 year old is much better at yoga than I am! In the afternoons I usually pop in the Biggest Loser DVD and do that during nap time!

    Fence

I had the same fears when I was first deciding on getting banded or not. I remember I was in bed with my hubby and wanting to talk to him but not knowing how he would react. I always thought that he was totally against wls. Well I finally got the courage up and talked to him to find out that he was interested too. I had surgery 1/16/09 and he had his 2 weeks later. I didn't tell ANYONE besides my hubby and my parents until about a week before surgery when I realized that I would need help with my 3 kids. Then I told my best friend who ended up coming to stay and take care of my kids while I recovered. She talked me into telling a few more people about it and now everyone knows. And I wouldn't have it any other way. I have had such a great reaction from everyone. Those who think it's a cop out see me eat and realize that what I'm doing is harder than they thought. A half cup of food isn't a lot for a big girl. Research the crap out of it and then make the decision. My only regret is not having the surgery sooner. Good luck on your journey and congrats on your baby! :w00t:

    Hi everyone, I'm new :)

I can't say enough good things about lapband surgery. I was banded on 1/16/09 and have since lost 35 lbs. I have energy to do things like walk my children to school every morning, take 3 mile walks for fun, wrestle with my kids, and get my house clean. I know that sounds so lame, but I had zero energy before. The quality of my life has changed so drastically in the last month it amazes me. My husband had the surgery 2 weeks after me and has had similar results. After spending years dieting we decided to take charge of our lives and not look back. Like I said, it's the best thing we have ever done. My only regret is not having it done sooner. Good luck with your journey!
  5. Wow! You guys all look great! Drew, you've lost 70lbs in 2 months?! You are my new inspiration! I've lost 35 in 1 month and thought that the loss would slow down, any tips on it not?

new admission to 100 lb club

Wow! Everyone on here is such an inspiration to me! My husband and I both had surgery in Jan 2 weeks apart. We both have over 100lbs to lose (well, actually as of this morning I only have 100 to go! yay me!). It gets frustrating at times, but seeing so many people who have makes that a lot easier! Andrew you look sooo good!! Good job!
  7. Today I'm wondering if anyone out there has PCOS and got lap band. I personally was diagnosed with PCOS about 2 years ago and was told that losing weight would be the only thing to get my hormones in check and eventually be able to concieve. I was banded 1/16/09 and have already seen some differences in my body. So, anyone out there? Do you have PCOS and have your symptoms gone away with weight loss? :frown: Thanks!

    Need some advice...

First off, Congrats!!! Secondly, I sure hope you are planning on filing a complaint with the Dr office through the office manager or whatever. No one should EVER be treated that way. Now, I was just banded but all of the questions I had pre-op were about getting pregnant. From what my Dr has told me he will work with my OB and do what they recommend to make sure the baby and I are both getting our nutrients when I finally do get pregnant. My suggestion would be talk to your OB and do what they recommend. Good luck to you and congrats again!! :frown:

    Anyone NOT hungry??

I am not hungry anymore. Before my fill yesterday I had been STARVED for like a week. I felt like my little half cup portion wasn't enough- even though it was protein. My fill has made all the difference in the world! Looks like everyone is doing great! :frown:

two days for my first fill....

I had my first fill yesterday and it was so much better than I thought! I didn't get a numbing agent, he just felt for my port and went for it. It stung a bit, but I didn't flinch it wasn't that bad. After he gave me my fill (3ccs) he put a band aid on it and had me drink some water. That's when I freaked. I know that it was me freaking myself out but I felt like I couldn't swallow. My friend is the front office manager at the office and she calmed me down and I drank more water just fine. I was on liquids yesterday and ate some mushies today but had a normal dinner. I feel great!
  12. I wanted to check in with anyone else who got banded Jan 16th. How are things? Having any troubles? Share your success! I just got home from getting my first fill. It was such a good experience. It didn't hurt at all, which I was glad about. I have a 10cc band and the Dr put 3cc's in. He told me my weight loss so far is great and that I'm doing great. So I'm on liquids today, then mushies tomorrow. They had me drink a bottle of water (I could only drink half though) in the office before I left and it was a little hard at first but got easier. I'm sure everyone is doing great! Keep up the good work!!

    ? about weight loss

I just got my first fill today so I'm of no help to you... but let me tell you, if I weigh 5lbs less in the morning I will be the happiest camper EVER!! Good luck!
  14. I've heard that from someone else about crab, weird! I would die if chicken didn't go well with me! 18lbs is great! Keep up the good work! Queen Creek has grown soooo much in the last few years, it's crazy! Fun that you used to live there!
  15. So I'm 3 weeks post op and I think I'm experiencing bandster hell. About an hour after I eat I'm hungry again. Like hungry hungry. I've been trying to make sure that I'm eating enough protein but it still doesn't keep me satisfied. I go in for my first fill on Friday. I'm just wondering if this is what bandster hell is. And could this be why my weight loss has slowed down the last few days?
  16. Thanks everyone for the support! I'm sure I will be a lot less grumpy come Friday when I get my fill!! Bella as for your questions, I only did ore-op for a week because they moved my surgery up a week so I lost about 8lbs pre-op and the r Rest after being banded. I am already allowed to eat normal foods so my diet varys. I do try to eat mostly protein and stick to the half cup rule my dr gave. Good luck!!
  17. Hey everyone! I had surgery on 1/16 so I'm about 2 1/2 weeks post-op. I'm doing great so far, I've lost 31 lbs:thumbup: (that's including the 10lbs I lost in the week before doing my pre-op diet) and I'm not having any struggles with food. I feel great and only am experiencing slight pain in my port area. Only 2 things I can complain about... 1. I'm a stomach sleeper so sleeping on my back has been hard but I'm dealing... 2. I just want to work out!! I feel like I've done so well with my weight so far that I know if I was working out I'd be doing so much better! I've been walking but I just feel like that''s not enough. I called my Dr office and they said nothing more than walking until I'm 5 weeks post-op!! I know I shouldn't be complaining but I just want to work out! Any love will help!
  18. Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement and the good advice! I talked to my Dr who said that I can start walking up hills next week if I'm feeling up to it and he would rather me not use weights at all. BUT he did say I could do the aerobic exercises on my Wii fit and I did them today for an hour along with taking my dog out for a brisk walk and I must tell you, I'm feeling great! I actually felt like I had a work out!! Good luck to us all!!
  19. I didn't have surgery on the 27th but my husband did (I had mine the 16th). He is doing really well so far. He is way stronger than I was. The next day he worked from home and went into the office yesterday and today. I got on him to rest more so he can recover. He's having a hard time with the pure liquids and is on count down to mushies! Thankfully our Dr only requires 1 week of liquid. Good luck to everyone!!
  20. What everyone is saying is true. You have to realize you are so worth it! Surrounding yourself with those who are supportive of your new life change, that will help loads! You're doing great! Keep it up!!
  21. Hi! I had surgery on 1/16/09 and am on the mushy stage but I'm finding myself getting bored. What are you eating? I'm having a little bit of a hard time getting my protein in because, frankly, I can't imagine eating pureed meat. Help! I've already lost 20lbs and I don't want to stop there!! Thank you so much!! :bored:
  22. So I don't know if I can answer everything because I was just banded on 1/16..but I'll answer what I can. First, I've lost 24lbs so far.. now from what my dr told me today (my first post op appointment) that is a lot, but not impossible. Secondly, I feel my port but I'm not fully healed. My husband doesn't want to touch it he got the surgery Tuesday, so he has his own. lol. :scared: My number one question when going in was about being able to have more kids the dr told me he discourages getting pregnant for 1-2 years so you can lose your weight first, but he said once I did get pregnant he'd work with my OB and most likely un-fill the band completely. I can only speak for myself, but it's been 2 weeks and I would do it all over again tomorrow. This has truely changed my life. Good luck to you!!
  23. I also got banded 1/16 and am trying to stick to the 1/2 cup rule too. My Dr had me on liquids for a week and then moved onto mushies for a week, then onto a little stronger food. My friend is a nurse at my Dr office and also had lap band she gave me some great tips... sf popsicles, sf pudding, sfjello, and lots of soup! It's been really easy~~ ok not easy, but easier since she told me that. Also, she suggested eating things like shrimp and tuna to switch it up a bit from chicken. lol. Good luck to us all!
  24. Hey JC! Congrats to all of us for our decision to become healthier! I was banded 1/16 and am already to the mushy stage. Trust me, it all gets easier! the gas is totally normal but it totally does help to get up and walk around. I have 3 kids so I was up the next day because I had to but it totally has helped! Also, PowerAid zero was my saving grace! I would try to sip as much as I could as often as I could. Oh, and I got a good book and read to get myself busy! Good luck to you!!! :w00t:
  25. I had surgery on 1/16 and according to my Dr am supposed to move on to mushy foods tomorrow. I have absolutely no appetite what so ever. I haven't felt one hunger pain at all. I'm super nervous to move onto mushy foods, also but I also know it's important to follow the instructions my Dr gave me. Good luck to us all!
