Being over weight my whole life but trying every diet out there was getting old. I'd lose weight just to gain it back and then some. I'm a Mom to 3 amazing children and I was noticing how tired I was-- I didn't have the energy to do anything, including playing with my kids! So one night I was talking to my hubby and asked him what his thoughts were on it. He told me to call the insurance company and see what they said. So that's what I did!Insurance said we just needed to get pre-authorization (we had blue shield of CA), meet with a nutritionist, and do a physc eval. I went online and found Dr. Schlesinger and called and spoke with Jen Bradshaw who answered every question I had. I went in and met with Jen and also got an appointment for my hubby, also! We were on a pretty strict time restraint (our insurance was ending the end of January adn this was the first week of December!) and Jen got everything done! The day we got the call saying I was approved for surgery I was so excited! I had surgery January 16th and my hubby had his January 29th. My recovery was a lot worse than his (apparently pain and I aren't friends lol) I had never had surgery before and I couldn't get over how tired I was. Thankfully I have an amazing friend who came and took care of my kiddos while my hubby was at work and let me sleep. My hubby had his surgery and went to work the next day (the Dr did not advise that AT ALL). My weight literally started falling off... I lost about 15lbs on my pre-op diet and I've lost a total of 107 lbs. When I started this journey I was a size 22/24, now I'm a size 12/14. I go to the gym, play with my kids. I went back to college! I feel like a different woman! Lapband changed my life!
