FDA: The Low-Carb Diet Is 'Sheer Nonsense' - The Common Voice
SwanGal replied to Alex Brecher's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hahahaha well tell my body that. My body laughs at this article as it sheds the weight lowcarbing!!! Low calorie for the last 6 months, no weight loss - not a single POUND and 3 weeks of lowcarbing and I am 30 pounds lighter. Eat that. -
No I do not count calories while lowcarbing. I just count carbs. Lose like crazy.

It's just not working. Any ideas why not?
SwanGal replied to bookwormswot's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's pretty much physically impossible for low carbing not to work. If you starve your body of it's natural choice of energy (carbs... sugar) it has to burn fat in order to survive. Please post an example of what you are eating on a regular day so I can look at it and try and help you figure out what might be hurting you as far as weight loss goes. Thanks! -
It's something genetic or whatever. Some people can lose by cutting back calories. I've never been able to. The only time I've ever really lost any weight is when I cut out carbs. Ohh well it works at least. TOM came today though and I gained 2 pounds with it. Just warning those that still get that... you do retain water so don't get discouraged... it all comes off when that little visitor leaves. LOL!

Yes I sure am. Was losing nothing before and now after 3 weeks (as of yesterday) I've lost 30#!!!! low carb is the only way for me. I feel sad I did the band for naught but maybe once I lose the rest of my weight at least the band will help it all come back!! Hope so... that's the plan anyways.

I am with you. Lowcarbing is the only way I lose. I have been eating less than 500 calories a day for weeks after my last fill and not losing a pound. The second I started lowcarbing the weight came melting off. I've lost a lot in the past lowcarbing but gained a lot back through pregnancy and eating carbs again. BUT this time when I lose it all lowcarbing I don't have to worry about gaining it back because I have the added measure of the band helping me not to overeat!!

I made deviled eggs last night. They were so yummy!!! Couldn't eat very many - but they were so worth it! I also made my famous green beans. I cook green beans (use canned beans) all day long in chicken stock, diced onions and bacon. It is so yummy and I could have eaten the whole bowl!!!

Linda's low carb recipes are the best. I've low carbed before and used her recipes. I am finding that the things I loved before though are things I can't really eat now. Chicken is hard for me to get down.

I started lowcarbing a week ago today. I am already down over 10 pounds. I was losing nothing since my band was placed on 12/09/09 although I was eating next to nothing. Now I am eating more and losing weight and loving it!

December Bandsters How much have you lost?
SwanGal replied to oceancity4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have no restriction still. Have lost a total of 17# from before the surgery pre-op and all. I don't if it matters that I don't have as much to lose as some though. I really am looking forward to getting my band filled to the point where I have restriction. I met with the nutritionist yesterday and they think that the lowcalorie diet I've been on isn't working for me and suggested I go back to lowcarbing. If that's the case - I could have done this without surgery. I need the band to at least let me know it's there. As it stands I wouldn't know I had had the surgery unless someone pointed out my scars. -
About to lose it... can't wait for fill!!

Pardon all the typos. I am posting from my phone and it likes to change words for me sometimes. -

The reason I was being defensive is not because why he sai is untrue but it had nothing to do with what I was talking about. It didn't for the convo at all. It was like it belonged on another thread or something. Sometimes people accidentally do that. I have had more than one window open before and done it a few times on other boards. LOL Yeah it was great advice but none that I needed to hear particularly. Well I am praying that my first feel gives me some restriction. Anything would be better than none. If I didn't have scars I wouldn't even know I had the surgery right now. Ohh and wii fit plus is so much fun!! If you don't have it try and get it. Works up a sweat and tells you how many calories you are burning etc. -

I am exercising. I am going to have to disagree with you that a fill won't help. I have the realize band and have no restriction whatsoever. My dr doesn't put anything in it until the first fill at 6 weeks. If I wanted to lose fast I could lowcarb and do it right now. I got the band to be a tool not a quick fix but it does serve a purpose. Where did you get the idea I was determined to go around the band? Are you possibly on the wrong thread!? I have no desire to go around the band I just can't wait to have restriction of some sort so I won't have to continue feeling hungry nonstop. Everyone gets the band for restriction so I don't really know where you are coming from with your post. I don't have any diabetes or blood pressure issues. I just big eyes and portion control is a major issue. I am what my dr refers to as a perfect candidate based on how I eat and what I eat normally. Anyways... Thanks for responding but your post really seems off base.
