    FEB 3rd!!!! WOOT WOOT!!!

Congrats to you all losing so much weight.. thats wonderful. I havent been on the scale in a few weeks, so im not for sure where im at.. but i know im going down sizes.. ::thumbdown: I have not had a fill .. yet I have restriction. I've had alot more energy.. and i've been running up stairs and not feeling like passing out.. :blushing: Last week my husband had his surgery.. I've been having mostly Soup with him.. His liver was really big, and our surgeon said his surgery was the most difficult that he had ever done. My H ended up with 8 incisions... and had to stay in the hospital longer. My H is very stubborn re; changing his ways.. He refused to do the liquid diet. Im really proud of him.. He has given up having 8 plus soda pops a day.

Why am I soooo cold all the time?

A friend ask me yesterday if I had been feeling colder than usual, and said that its because we are not consuming very much food, therefore not accumulating the same energy that we produced pre-band. Not for sure if she is correct, but it seems logical to me. This friend is very athletic, and also worked for Abbott, and knows alot about nutrition. Was sort of surprised by her explanation, as I previously thought it was because Im losing some of my insulation :=)

    Lap band erosion

All these issues are just so very scary.. Wishing I never had to go this direction.. Having nightmares about all of these risks.. Alot of horrific stories and stats all the way around it seems. Best Wishes to everyone Peace~

    Lap band erosion

I've only read the information posted here by everyone.. and going off the information given by the Dr who posted.. Im certainly not here to debate this topic or say anything against anyone who has made other choices.. I only chose to give my own opinion based on what I know.. and what I read here on this thread.. Does this mean that the good Dr who posted on this thread gave misinformation ? If so.. he is the educated one of this field.. so maybe he will want to debate.. Peace~

    Lap band erosion

One thing about having the band that bothers me most is the possiblity of erosion. As this thread has demonstrated, its very much a reality that can happen.. I will be asking my Dr to check for this periodically to try and stay safe. If I were to have this occur, I would not have the band put back in.. and would think the scar tissue would have already made such a mark that it would be unthinkable. My opinion about the sleeve, or the bypass is that these operations are too risky and you risk losing a very important organ. It may not have been a friend to many.. in a sense.. but it is something that you just have to have.. and to think of it going in the waste bucket is just aweful.. To know that its unreversible.. could cause damage beyond repair.. and serious risk of fatality. Honestly, Im disappointed that I've had to have the band put in.. Genetics, Hormones, Emotional stress.. seem to have caused such havic on my body. Its really sad to me.. Almost like a terrible disease or carwreck that couldnt be avoided... Im hoping for the best results of course.. and hoping to become a healthier Mom, who is able to do so much more.. and a healthier more attractive wife too... <!-- / message -->

    23 Days...packing list

I found the 1/2 cup plasic Gladware cups very useful for keeping portions in check
  9. Back to school and working and driving this week... busy, busy.. soo tired today. Not getting enough Protein in.. working on this.. Have lost another 3.5 lbs so im down 11 lbs :=O I think a pair of binoculars is needed.. for the double takes ono the scale... hurts to keep bending down to look..
  10. GasX Rocks~ LOL I've been taking them since I left recovery ~
  11. Moon & Chicky, Im right along with you on the Clear Liquids. Friday night I did hit the town.. lol.. to the local smoothie shop and found a vanilla/banana protien shake.. and it lasted two days.. :-o Very yummie.. Today I tried some carnation breakfast and it seems that maybe i cant tolerate the milk yet. I had also tried a low/carb/high protien slim fast that didnt jive either.. I tried a 'Naked' brand protien drink.. apple/banana/pineapple/coconut/protien and soy were the ingredients.. Not very tasty.. but didnt kill me.. Went to work and found that I had overdone it a bit... have to go slow.. Plus I used the stairs atleast 18 times w/in a 16 hr time frame. Sipping chicken broth now.. and this AM weighed 3.5lbs less from surgery day. We can do this.. and hoping to my husband in soon to join the fun.. :-D
  12. Happy Birthday cmaneice.. ~!~!~! Lets all hold our little cups up in celebration ~! This will be an awesome year for sure~!

    FEB 3rd!!!! WOOT WOOT!!!

Muttilien , that sounds like a good menu today. was thinking we could only have the chicken broth and Jello.. so thats all I had today. As for the school matter.. Im so disappointed by the actions of which ever staff member took such a premature action without even gathering all the information. They didnt even really listen to the child in the first place. How humiliating to be investigated for doing nothing wrong. The principal of the school stated to my husband that the action was taken abruptly and that he did not agree with it. As for the investigation, Im certain that it will be okay.. its just that this was completely unncessary.. And now I feel terrible for having my daughter there at the hospital with me... she was so sweet and helpful to me. Gosh, whichever staff member that made such of a decision must have not really thought of how our children would feel. Their mother just having surgery, and then to be questioned by strangers, and to feel as if their parents or they had done something wrong. They come home from school today and said they do not like the social worker from school.. and think they are mean people... wasnt real sure how I could change their point of view.
  15. I experienced similiar situation with a few of the staff in the hospital. They said I looked too small to have this type of surgery, and was asking me all types of health history questions. In my case, I have been 100 lbs overweight for 13 yrs and im considered obese.. I had tried all types of 'diets' and exercise programs only to lose 10 lbs. My Dr talks alot about the many hormones in the stomach and how there is much research being done. The Doc says that this is why I will lose weight once and for all with the band.. 'hormonal inbalance' He also mentioned that there will one day be a pill available for just this situation that will replace the lapbands. This comes with many lessons, and leaning how to savor each moment in our lives and every tiny morsal is a big lesson to me.

    FEB 3rd!!!! WOOT WOOT!!!

Congrats on everyone's surgery. Mine went very well. Doc did a great job.. Im still sore, and looking forward to being rid of all the gas pains. Thanks to everyone who mentioned the GasX.. it helped alot. Unfortunately I have a sad side note: The Elem School where my children attend called child services on me because my daughter missed a day to come and be with me in the hospital. ( My children have not missed any school and do not have a history of missing other that winter illness) They somehow 'assumed' that she was left all alone at home.. Im very dissapointed, that they would think such a thing because my daughter stated she helped babysit her younger brother.. We were never contacted and the children were 'interviewed' at school during the day before I returned home, and they are feeling very confused... and so am I..

    The Band and Acid Reflux

My husband has the reflux and he is going to be banded. I would suggest finding a different surgeon. My H also has a repaired hiatal hernia and the Dr says it wont be a problem.
  19. Im scheduled to be banded on 2/03/09 so I really havent lost any foot fat yet :-) Just wanted to mention a good exercise for your feet that I recently learned in one of my classes. You will need a golf ball.. and while your sitting roll it around on the bottom of your feet.. You can also do while your standing too. This is very good for massaging the bottom of your feet and creating circulation and moving fasia and that fatty tissue around.. My teacher massages the Chicago Bears.. She taught us this technique.. Says she keeps a basket of golf balls in the bathroom and is always exercising her feet.. :w00t:
  20. That list is awesome~! Thanks so much~ Lots of us going the first week of Feb.. Congrats~ Ok, so i've had my last supper.. lol.. nothing to brag about really because .. I've been last suppering for about a month now.. lol.. Now I've begun the pre op diet today. So far Im thinking this is really going to be the most difficult part... 2 wks of just liquids before surgery... :wink5: Seems like it wouldnt be so bad afterwards... but 2 weeks of of this liquids only stuff and I just might lose more than poundage:cool:
  21. Thanks exumtam.. Looking forward to checking in~!
  22. Congrats to everyone getting their approvals and getting started.. Im scheduled for Feb 3rd and starting my pre op diet on Monday. Hugs to all.. I know Im feeling a variety of emotions too..
  23. Currently I am a fulltime college student and a caregiver in the evenings. The lady I care for is very sweet and fairly easy to care for her. She is in 1st & somedays 2nd stage alzheimers. My worry is this.. Her daughter is quite the handful in this situation. I am very devoted to this family and try to be a very positive support to them. The daughter is very judgemental and critical.. very political.. My surgery is scheduled Feb 3rd and I have yet to peep a word about it to this woman. (my boss) My husband is disabled and I mentioned him getting the surgery and she balked.. Unfortunately, she just has a hard time understanding certain things and also tends to be very controling. She was brought up very wealthy and frugal.. and she does not work.. and she feels that a person can just lose wieght .. and has certain old fashion ideas about weight loss.. and quite honestly alot of ignorance.. Im very nervous about letting her know that im going to have the surgery. Of course I will need to schedule a few nights off.. and thats within our arrangement.. although our current scheduling is very spontaneous to say the least.. Anyone have any thought or suggestion you would like to share? I am happy to listen... I need to do this.. however im nervous about the reactions of this woman... I will say with confidence that this woman does need me.. I can say with confidence that im not an easy replacement. She hasnt had any hassles with me whatsoever.. and I have been able to help her at any given moment.. Can I be replaced.. Sure .... Im just worried she just will not understand... and ultimately it could be possible that by having this done i would be putting my job at risk.. only becaue she lacks understanding and is very opionated.. judgemental.. ect.. Thanks for any input.. I would be more than happy to answer any addtional questions.. Hugs~

What does my band do for me?

Thank you so very much for sharing this... I have been wondering if I too could just keep it private from alot of people. As I have to deal with a few very opinionated people. Currently I work as a caregiver and my boss tends to get a bit too involved in my personal business and I have been wondering how I might deal with her as Im certain she would react very negatively to my decision. Your post lets me know that I can hopefully keep it a private matter. Best wishes on your continuing success..
  25. Waiting for a callback to confirm Feb 3rd.. Can't believe its almost time..
